'why is David kissing Walter in Alien: Covenant?'
I don't understand why you think that it is a gay kiss. The kiss in BR is a gay kiss? No.
The Covenant kiss can be a 'good-bye kiss', or they say it is a 'kiss of death', etc.
'Plus, statistics show that a very small amount of the population is gay or bisexual. Why does David think he is one of the few that are?'
You say David thinks that he is gay? Sorry, it is new for me.
'very small amount' - How small? How do we know that? In Germany it is over 20%, it can't be so small because different industry branches aim these people and their bank accounts. But is it important to David??? I think he does not think about sexuality and homosexuality when he kisses Walter!
This is where I thought this was going...... XD

You're a sparkly vampire
colleague is correct, not college. Sorry my bad. Typo.
@Ati
If androids can develop emotions, then why is David kissing Walter in Alien: Covenant? David thinks he understand emotions, but he has expressed them wrong in multiple situations in Alien: Covenant. We live in a culture that is similar to the Alien universe. David is a part of England culture, which, I estimate, is similar to American culture. Guys don't kiss guys and if they do, it typically frowned upon. Really, though, there a lot of mixed emotions on gender issues and humans in America. Plus, statistics show that a very small amount of the population is gay or bisexual. Why does David think he is one of the few that are? I guess he does think he is a god in a fanatical way..., but with all of the info on what it means to be a man, why would he choose something that is associated with not being a typical man? I wouldn't think his self-imposed god-like status would include him being a gay or bisexual. That is not what our culture would impose. Maybe he learned something from what he could read about the Engineers?
#WAxit - This is strange.
'in Europe its all doom and gloom over Brexit in the news' - And it is only one from the many.
college - You use college for colleague in Au English? (Silly question I know, but who knows...)
As far as I know, replicants in Blade Runner have artificial memories.
As for the androids, they have info about everything, they are programmed - they do not get artificial memories, but after their birth they start to collect pieces of info about the world, they live, they experience, they become older, so after a while they will have memories as well, I mean real/acquired memories.
As I see it, both artificial memories and acquired memories can generate emotions. We can see this in the relevant movies.
Sorry to go back off topic. But its funny you mention that. I have a college who just returned from a month back home in Ireland. She said over in Europe its all doom and gloom over Brexit in the news.
Here, Front page news: We are making fun of Western Australia for wanting to become a territory instead of a state #WAxit.
We work hard down here, but don't take things very seriously.....
Fassbender should be very wary about associating himself with another bomb considering Steve Jobs, Assassin Creed and now The Snowman. And some characters can hurt an actor's image or caused him to get typecast.
@Ati
That is correct. When I say androids in relation to the Bladerunner universe, I mean replicants.
I Moon Girl - You refer to replicants when you mention the BR universe, don't you?
IRaptus - 'Ill take that as a compliment XD'
It was, and I envy you. You are far away from the sh.. of the other side of the planet.
But jumping back to the topic, the bizarre will be needed in the sequel, I think.
Ill take that as a compliment XD
I might keep it yet. We will see
IRaptus - Temporarily? :) You Australians are so different! :D
I have a good surgeon :P
In celebration of meeting a genuine Aussie legend (John Jarrett from The Wolf Creek films) tomorrow I have temporarily changed my avatar lol.
IRaptus - ...no comment... :/
Wow! You have a new face! Was it expensive? :)
I've just finished watching the 3 Human Centipede films. Nothing is "too much" anymore apparently lol
IRaptus - Yes, it is. :)
What do you think about the possibility to see something like this in Covenant 2? Would it be too much?
same here, can never get enough of this franchise. I've mainly collected all the novel and collector book like the W-Y Report, USCM tech manual etc.
Drive my wife nuts with my constant obsession XD
I'd post more often,I just have a hard time coming up with something to say.Just posting for fun here cuz I really miss posting lol
My obsession goes back to my childhood lol.Just can't get enough
Ingeniero I don't see how an A.I. centered film can be surprising at this point. And I don't see how a mad robot or a synthetic conspiracy can be perceived as a "fresher" idea. A movie like that will bomb badly and deservedly so. They can explain the synthetics' role in 5 minutes running time and leave the rest re-visiting much more interesting questions like why the Engineers wanted to destroy humankind 2000 years ago, why they seed other planets, what is the relationship between the Engineer race and the xenomorph and the black goo, etc.
V I N E T I C U M and Ingeniero - Thank you for your thoughts.
Michelle Johnston - The topic essay was not created by me but it is taken from the site https://cinephiles-delight.tumblr.com. I like sharing articles, comments, images, drawings, etc from everywhere but it does not mean that I always agree with the ideas and statements contained by the material in question.
For example, I totally agree with you here when you mention: 'This greatest love stuff is bullshit if you watch...' I think I was among the firsts who expressed something similar.
I am always glad to read your comments, thank you for your lines here as well.
Ingeniero - You're agreed.
The original essay is much longer, it contains remarkable ideas in my opinion.
Ingeniero - 'You also have the coolest topic (Dr. Shaw above) closing graphic on the forum.'
:D Thanks, it was made from your still. If you allow me, I will make more versions from the pictures of your relevant thread. :)

It does make sense.
When David said to Peter Weyland "You will die, I will not", the conversation was over and time for David to pour tea.
Peter obviously did not take for granted he was going to die and was rather bothered that David assumed he would not conquer death. A rather lofty helping of pride was allotted to Peter up to this point and he believed to the end he was entitled to "more".
New find...wonderful detail. Great job Ati.
You also have the coolest topic (Dr. Shaw above) closing graphic on the forum.
All I have to say is what are you people smoking. The internet is 79% pornography (judging by referral URL's to anything I monitor) and 19% validation and 2% honesty. Trite nonsense, I am out of here carry on with your projections.
Remember if we really are secure in our beliefs about art and know whats going on we do not try and convince complete strangers. Profound joy may offer the occasional witness but it doesn't lead to the obsessive desperate pseudo intellectual validation offered here.
That's a bummer. I would have loved to see the Walter and Daniels.
The "toys" are exceptional.
Yes I would like to have a face hugged Luke Scott figure!
Yes ninXeno426, like cuponator3000, I've been "interested" in since 2011 with the Prometheus announcement and aware since 1979.
Thank you for posting again.
We are misunderstood in conventional settings and I feel that it is very important to know the history of LV-223.
As to the decision to kill Dr. Shaw...why would she expect anything else?

"Even David’s introduction to the crew of the Covenant could be taken as another instance in which he is portrayed as the archangel Lucifer. The name Lucifer literally means “light-bringer”, and when we first see David in his present state he announces his presence by firing a flare/flashbang into the air which explodes in a bright, blinding light, so he is literally in this case the light-bringer."
That is an excellent frame of reference in Comparison to David in so many instances.
"In the book of Genesis in the Bible, God gives life to Adam’s corporeal body by breathing the breath of life into Adam, an act which is represented in a literal sense by David breathing onto the face of his creation, symbolizing his god-like relationship to the creatures and highlighting his own image of himself."
David was very disappointed when Captain Oram cut down the neomorph. He had held up the mad robot has a friendly face for a while until Oram fired. David didn't look twice at the Rosenthal's head nearby and could only see his creation. And earlier, David was surely warm to Walter's "next visionary" question as well.
Thank you Ati. This is a great find.
I saw something different (your take above) in Prometheus and Alien: Covenant Thoughts_Dreams. I will be just fine with anything Ridley Scott does on film in regards to what Alan Dean Foster wrote in the Alien: Covenant Origins novel.
"I honestly believe that he deserves it (the next movie to fail if we get another movie centered around AI) because he made this the AI show so if this is what he got then I am glad to see it crash and burn."
You don't like being surprised Thoughts_Dreams?
The Alien: Covenant novels are both great. Alien: Covenant has crashed and burned it's way into stellar Blu-ray sales. Ash and Mother were always a big part of the Alien show followed by Bishop's contribution.

AI was running the show on the surface of LV-426 and in orbit until Ripley and Parker had their fill. AI was also running the show on Fury 161 when Ripley was scanned, AI recognized the organism in the scan and sent a message to corporate prompting the arrival of Michael Bishop.
I'm not sure how to classify Call saying "Father" to AI and the effects quality of the beast at the end of AR (thumbs down is polite).
Haha my obsession hasn't stopped since 2011, ninXeno426! So , I feel you. I keep getting unnecessary merch (mainly shirts) and don't think I will ever stop watching any/all of the films on a pretty regular basis.
I know the feeling, me and my brother are big ALIEN fans. My mom and dad are more of a Star Wars, Star Trek, and Stargate fans.
Ati your topic has moved me in compassion :.) ! Thanks . I am happy to go down this road together with you up to the Madonna of the arc .
"Au Revoir Shoshanna"
Perez turns around and sees the alien, "No!"
(The alien gets shot at and some blood lands on a window...)
Perez yells, "Get out! Everyone! NOW!"
Makes a lot of sense!
