What is that eyeball octopus alien specimen in Alien: Earth? It's official name is Trypanohyncha Ocellus – or T. Ocellus for short (also known as Species 64) and it is a highly intelligent invertebrate, parasitic organism. Recovered by the Weyland-Yutani deep space research vessel the USCSS Maginot, this deadly little organism found its way on Earth after the Maginot unexpectedly crash-landed due to a containment breach. This article details information about this specific specimen and will be expanded upon as new information becomes available.

Species Classification
The Trypanohyncha Ocellus (T. Ocellus) is classified as a parasitic organism. It first enters the eye socket of another living organism and then proceeds to hijack their brain and nervous system.

Once the T. Ocellus has control of a body, the resident host consciousness seems to be completely absent.
Temperament
The T. Ocellus was initially thought to be highly aggressive, but after the release of Episode 5 – In Space No One..., it was revealed that Ocellus actually exhibited an array of different temperaments – it even tried to interact with the crew. While it's initial introduction saw the T. Ocellus attempting to attack Nibs, its behavior on board the Maginot showed a different side to this organism.
While escaped on the Maginot prior to its crash, it took over the body of Maginot Chief Engineer Shmuel – allowing the Ocellus to make bizarre sounds and audible cues. It may have known the death of the ship's crew meant a possibility it could die in the crash, so it had incentive to keep some of the crew alive, which might be why it seemed to protect Zoya Zavery from the Xenomorph. Since the Xenomorph has no eyes, it did not have a vulnerability the Ocellus could exploit, so it retreated once the Xenomorph made short work of Shmuel's body.

Traits & Abilities
- Invertebrate
- Extremely quick and agile
- Highly intelligent
- Able to alter brain waves of host organism
- Preferred method of attack seems to be through eye sockets – quick access to the brain in conventional beings
- Able to reanimate lifeless bodies regardless of physical state and circulation
- Able to enhance host body capabilities (using Shmeul's body to fight the Xenomorph)
- Can utilize host body vocal capacity to create audible calls

Weyland-Yutani Applications
The purpose and intended application for the T. Ocellus species at Weyland-Yutani is unknown. How the organism was discovered and where it originated from remains classified. Given its unique abilities and traits, it could potentially provide technogical advancements with regards.to cognitive improvement for Humans and A.I.
With no indication that the signular T. Ocellus on board the Maginot can reproduce, it can be safely assumed the organism would be studied and dissected rather than multiplied and grown for any form of bio-weapons application. The purpose for Weyland-Yutani's fascination with this organism remains to be understood.
As new information regarding this specimen become available, this post will be updated.
