In the original leaked trailer there was a glimpse of a creature (this didn't appear in the official trailer).
Somebody over at AvP Galaxy has made a GIF and here it is.

I was wandering if Ridley will be using any of the ideas of early life on Earth as his inspiration............

humm to me is the classic sequence like :
we see two crew members talking in the temple ...camera pan to right ..slow .... slups !!! something hide from them .... and everyone in the theatre " what the fuck was that ? " ...
" HEy Spartacus told me it was an alien sausage !!"
" shut up there !!"
" hey two space jockeys making out "
"Sparky was right on the money bro!!"
...add random sound of Frantz throwing out ....
..how to ruin your alien experience 30 years later :D ;)

GavinJanuary 02, 2012
Or maybe its a creature that evolves in a matter of seconds, starting like that and becoming more evolutionary advanced, possibly becoming the tall guy.

Looks more like a tongue to me. Or....more realistically......some liquid. It also looks like the film is jumpy, like somebody cut it and it is playing in reverse.

LMFAO
wait a second what the "f" am I laughing about? I should be angry !!!

SpartacusJanuary 02, 2012
it is absolutely amazing I am just saying how so many of you do not get what I am saying.
I have said so many times that it is a xeno BEFORE it has been tainted by a Human Gene pool!!
My theory is The Engineers are terraforming with the purpose of creating the perfect bio-mechaincal weapon.
so it could be a different type of creature they created OR it can be a "xeno" as I suggested and have many many people involved in the making the film have hinted at...long before it's been tainted by Human DNA.

DinosaurRaghhhJanuary 02, 2012
Lols Frantz,
I think you might be right @Miser the leaked trailer seems to be the reverse of this 'Serpent GIF' as if the creature is jumping out at something ..........................

SpartacusJanuary 02, 2012
and if saying out loud that if it turns out that the Engineer's are Terraforming planets for the purpose of creating a bio-mechanical weapon and that if it does appear in the film for a few seconds near the end of it RUINS THIS FILM FOR YOU...
than just do not go see it !!!
you won't like it at all !!!
You've already made up your mind not to before seeing it !!!

FrantzJanuary 02, 2012
we should made a research and find when and where was said that the SJ are terraforming ( that is already a wrong word in this case ...terraforming = making like Earth ... ) something ...

SpartacusJanuary 02, 2012
I posted it yesterday and also agree with what you just wrote before that.
I will post it here again for you gimme a minute please.
I have had that same thought many many times!!!
They make it up as they go along or beforehand during the writing phase!!!

SpartacusJanuary 02, 2012
Disclaimer; while I realize this article is 10 months old, it suggests that the info contained was provided by inside sources involved in the making of the film.
What is also very interesting is everything he mentions has now been confirmed by secondary sources now {except for the Biggie reveal}, which in all probability and IMO he is right about as well.
Quite simply: it has the Alien aliens in it.
I know I’m not the only person on the UK blogging and film writing scene to have heard these rumours, and we almost certainly heard them from the same or associated sources, but I’ve gone on to speak with another party. Despite this individual having to be rather careful about what they were saying, they certainly didn’t quash the story.
So. Let’s go with it. How does Ridley Scott’s Prometheus fit into universe of the Alien films?
Quite simply: it has the Alien aliens in it.
The catch, though, is that you might not recognise them – at least, not at first.
Remember how the alien took on canine qualities after gestating in a dog? You may even suppose that the first film’s alien was so recognisably humanoid because it had grown in a human. The same applies here: generation by generation, the creature mutates. As Prometheus begins, the xenomorph is not too recognisable. Sure, it has that alien DNA that Scott and Fassbender teasingly referred to, but it’s missing… well, it’s missing human DNA. Or dog DNA.
All you have to do is imagine how it might look if it were to mix DNA with another alien species… and I think we’re starting to work it all out.
I learned that the film’s setting is, in part, a planet that has been terraformed to create the perfect environment in which a particular bioweapon would prosper. Terraformed deliberately to farm the weapon? I got no clear answer. Is this bioweapon the alien? I got no clear answer. While there was a lot of wheezing and coughing on my end of the phone, there was a good deal of quiet smirking on the other, it seems.
I did ask if the film is really going to be called Prometheus. The answer? “Maybe not. Though they are calling it that for a reason.”
Sadly, I was not able to confirm the rumoured use of an 8-foot animatronic Space Jockey, but the way I was told “there’s nothing we’re calling a space jockey here” just led me to believe, perhaps erroneously, that it would be the same character, or at least species, but with a new name. On past information, that name would seem to be “The Engineer”, but I may be getting ahead of myself to join those particular dots so readily when their sources aren’t the same.
Anyway. The only thing I’m completely sure of here is that Prometheus does indeed take place in the same universe as Alien, and in this universe there’s a big terraforming operation going on, somehow related to the classic Giger xenomorph.

Sparky, no disrespect meant but man, you seriously need to relax. Get a grip. Sending 3-4 posts in a matter of seconds is just ridiculous. Nobody I have ever met needed approval as much as it seems you are looking for here.
Like I said, this isn't meant as a clash or disrespecting you, I understand you are really excited about this film (as are all of us) but please show some humility (as stated earlier in this thread) and refrain from arguing peoples opinions since everybody here has the same chance of the thought out theories making sense.
This is why I stopped coming here earlier. You and I got into a discussion about what may or may not be in the film and you did the same thing. CAPS, argumentative and even trying to belittle ones intelligence just because they disagree with you.
Posts like the above are exactly what I am referring to though.
It is perfectly fine to disagree with people. That is what discussions here embrace. My ( and I am sure I am not alone) issue is having to read through argument after argument of you stating your opinion as facts.
I am quite certain a barrage of words are coming in your response but since I have kind of lost interest in the discussion on this site, once more I am bowing out.
Enjoy the conversations guys. It was awesome talking...even with you Spart (albeit most of the time), but I am 42 years old and have need to bicker nor read it at this stage in the game of life.
Take care all and hopefully the movie is everything you all want it to be.
Miser
:-)

I have got a long way in life by being honest. That GIF could be a thousand different things. One might be related to a xeno. Are we wishing this to be a xeno?

SpartacusJanuary 02, 2012
You guys are right on with that I agree, even the last part, could be it never looks ANYTHING AT ALL like a Xenomorph or is something else all together and I agree until we see it it is all speculation BUT I am going with probabilities here and in the teaser trailer there is that line Ridley says that I cannot get out of my head...
"Little Things Doing Great Big Things"!
or something like that anyways, I posted it somewhere for ya!!!
Micro changes in air densityJanuary 02, 2012
I think the idea of the slow transformation of the classic Alien throughout the movie and in front of ours faces would make for brilliant viewing.

GavinJanuary 02, 2012
"Little Things Doing Great Big Things"
Such as what i posted about a creature evolving during the course of the movie from a basic life form into the tall guy at the end.
But that said, it is such a cryptic statement it could mean anything, which is why Ridley said it.

SpartacusJanuary 02, 2012
That, I really really like, the idea of a slow transformation....sorry for posting my comment so fast but "I am here, I am here, I am here, I am heeeeeere"....{spoken like "The Who's" in "Horton Hears a Who"}

SpartacusJanuary 02, 2012
wow read this one again you guys that I posted yesterday I think it puts to rest what Ridley has in mind regarding my idea about this all being about Terraforming and making a bio-mechanical weapon but I W E L C O M E-W I T H-O P E N-A R M S any thoughts and twists and other slants on itor things you want to throw at me regarding it...
Ridley Scott:
"I think the Space Jockey is actually the pilot, and he’s part of this military operation – if that’s the word you can apply to his world, and therefore this is probably some kind of carrier, a weapon carrier, a biological or biomechanoid carrier of lethal eggs, inside of which are these small creatures which will actually fundamentally integrate in a very aggressive way into any society or any place they’re dropped."
–Commentary from Alien DVD of Quadrilogy Set (2003)

SpartacusJanuary 02, 2012
and also, didn't Biomechanic already suggest it was spring loaded thingy for his contraption he designed that represents what that was ???????????????
You must remember that SNORKY...right...?...
Could it be possible come to think of that now that this isn't a living thing per se but rather a mechanism as he suggested?

GavinJanuary 02, 2012

Just, as with anything regarding Prometheus is open to interpretation. It even supports the theory i posted Here.
Regards BM's diagram of the thing in the urn possibly having a spring loaded tail doesn't make sense to me, as their doesn't seem to be enough room within the ampules for such a coiled tail.

DinosaurRaghhhJanuary 02, 2012
Perhaps what is seen in this GIP is as Scott has stated "the alien will be reenvisioned as a progenitor of the received form of the Xenomorph". I'm wandering if anyone could get a longer clip of the creature jumping from the original leaked trailer???

FrantzJanuary 02, 2012
i think was more something like "things that appear to be insignificant ( at the start of the movie ) will become enormous at the end "

RickJanuary 02, 2012
Its really hard to see. During the entire gif it over lays the big head as you can see the nose and that is followed by the ship crashing at the very end. To me it looks more like a partially submerged baby xeno. Being that they are born white, have a smooth domed head, and only turn black as they age. This theory works for me.

RickJanuary 02, 2012
The only thing that sticks out weird to me is the dolphin style blowhole at the top (or actually facing you) when you watch the GIF.
It could also be the CGI Base of the Derelict crashing. Since there is a bit of overlay at the end ofthe GIF

artyohJanuary 02, 2012
There's a shot of people in the vehicle "hanger" using flamethrowers. They could be simply testing them, but I wonder if they might be using fire to rid themselves of some kind of small, but troublesome, parasitic vermin indigenous to the planet/moon where they landed.....something which they don't want infesting the ship....something that might come into accidental contact with green morphing-goo when the humans inadvertently provide access for them upon entering the "temple"......maybe the squirmy object that's visible in that clip.....something that seems small and insignificant, but ends up being neither. :p

RickJanuary 02, 2012
That image is a dolphin or porpoise type animal diving in time lapse video. You an see the blow hole, followed by a small dorsal fin at the end. LOL Could it be from dolphin tale?

SpartacusJanuary 02, 2012
i think was more something like "things that appear to be insignificant ( at the start of the movie ) will become enormous at the end "
Thank you Frantz, Yes, that is exactly what it was.
Here's the exact quotes of his on the 3 Teasers.
Yours is the Last one on the list Frantz, again Thanks man.
From The 3rd Teaser Trailer
#1-"The surprise is in the story"
#2-"It's All About Everything"
#3-"I come form the All About Everything school, so simply thinking, of some good dialogue and there fore terrific actors.
From The 2nd Teaser Trailer
#1-"The cast finds an establishment which is not what they expected it to be"
#2-"What we do find, Dangerous elements that are capable of eviscerating all of them in a heart beat."
From The First Teaser Trailer
#1-"So here we are, I'm back again."
#2-"It's Epic."
#3- "Not just by definition of the scale set".
#4-"It's about the very grand idea, of notions, The surprising things that appear to be small, yet, will be enormous."

RickJanuary 02, 2012
LOL Sparky,
Its hidden in #2, #2. Dangerous Elements capable of EVISCERATING all of them in a heart beat. If you think of the definition of that word it means to remove someones entrails or completely gutting someone. Think about it for a second that is really fricken harsh, and what do we know that is that harsh? Only one thing I can think of and thats my PET.

Alright. My two bits. A bit of interpreting evidence, a bit of rational thought and a bit of hypothetical thinking.
To begin with I think the GIF quality is terrible and it makes me side with Juxtapose´s earlier comment:
...is it just me that can't see the serpent?....I see a white thing with the word..."CARD" on it?...and that's about it....
However somebody on the forum (thanks!) had posted this link:Slow motion footage At the 2:03 mark you will see a bit better quality (more frames, sharper, brighter). Still terrible quality but an improvement.

Okay. just the facts/evidence first (light interpretation)
Now looking at this version I think it could be the opened sarcophagus in the SJ chair room. The solid metallic top becoming like plastic or cloth sheet and flowing/pulling to the side like a curtain. Vapour and light ensues. This is the evidence and how my eyes/mind interpret it.

Then some rational thought/connecting the dots (heavy interpretation)
Looking at picture from AVP Galaxy´s trailer analysis below the sarcophagus on the left has opened:

It seems to have the top cover missing that we see on the sarcophagus on the right. My first thought was that where has the cover been placed ? But seeing the footage tells me that it has not been raised off but it could have been pulled to the side like a thin cloth. And I think we can be pretty confident it is a sarcophagus as there is the window on the right and space for arms on the side (see pic below).

Then some playing with ideas (no evidence what so ever, total jibberish)
Something/somebody might come out/go in the sarcophagus but the scene stops before it. Could be the tall guy.
What happens to the sarcophagus is not necessarily organic transformation. It could be sci-fi nano memory metal shape shifting. Maybe the difference between the Alien and SpaceJockey is that A is totally organic being (and perfect at that like Ash stated in Alien movie) the SJ uses nanotech in their technology but could also have nanotechnology incorporated in their physiology. Would make interfacing easier with the technology they have. There could be other cool cyborg capabilities as well (grow a gun on your shoulder it you need it etc). Here imagination is starting to get out of hand. :-)
And a disclaimer:
What do I learn from this? Absolutely nothing useful as to me it reveals nothing of the plot (probably reason why it is in the trailer). It was a fun detective work though but time consuming.

Also the movie seems to be referencing Egyptian artefacts (the ampules and the giant head) so makes sense.

Then some playing with ideas (no need to take seriously)
Something/somebody might come out/go in but the scene stops before it. Could be one of the infected Magellan/Prometheus crew going in to get final transformations done. Could be the tall guy getting out that was there just waiting to get out and active. There is total of 3-4 sarcophagus (the 4th looks different from the other 3). IF the sarcophagus are found in the SJ space craft then the craft needs crew of 3-4 to do what it needs to do. But this all is hypothetical.
What happens to sarcophagus is not necessarily organic transformation. It could be sci-fi nano memory metal shape shifting. Maybe the difference between the Alien and SpaceJockey is that A is totally organic (and perfect at that as Ash stated) but SJ uses nanotech. They use it in their technology but incorporating it in their physiology would improve interfacing that technology. People really do need to not read too much into Ridleys comments, especially when he uses words like EVISCERATING and VISCERAL. Personally I think Ridley just likes the sounds of the words, because he usually uses them out of context.
If you want a visual definition of VISCERAL think Hellraisers 1-4 (after that they get really lame), thats VISCERAL.
