It does look like he touches it for it to 'activate'. Though it would lessen the threat somewhat if he could've just walked away if he hadn't touched one of them.

yea I agree sm and in subsequent films/ comics/ books, the eggs open on theyr own without contact. I do think it goes off sensory instinct though. when something comes in a certain radius it senses it. though alien is the exception, I think we have to allow for ridley not expecting sequels when he made it

ib read on another post someone suggest theyr some form of root? the face hugger looks very much organic and maybe roots would help sustain it for long perionds, feeding off neutrients in the ground?

So they are a hive mind that projects telepathically to communicate with each other and weaken prey. Possibly subjugate them eventually. Seems to be the consensus

I'm inclined to agree that they can't receive telepathic messages from us. They can only project the nightmares. Maybe until one of us gives in and tries to respond? Or maybe once they spend enough time or get enough hosts to crack our thought patterns?

Oh.Unfortunately i haven't read that.I was talking about it with ali81 and he says they come highly recommended.

I think they would communicate with themselves via some kind of Telepathic means but i also think they would use different Pheromones and maybe sounds that Human Ears cant detect.

Maybe some of these sound-waves are produce via different kinds of movement they may make?

I am not sure about Telepathic Communication with Humans though, i guess we cant rule it out... i certainly think they like to play Mind Games with us... by intimation, but actually be able to be Telepathic to us... who knows.. if they can then i would hope they can show us this in a future movie.

Mind you David can Telepathically communicate with the Neomorphs LOL Apparently... i would much rather it that he can communicate verbally with sounds the Human Ear cant pick up.

A telepathic link is so invasive. That's what gives me chills. If it's true, these creatures invade every part of you. Nothing is safe. Once you come in contact with them, they keep hounding you from every possible angle of attack. Certainly adds to their reputation as a perfect organism.
