David 7
MemberOvomorphJan-01-2017 5:43 PMDavid 7 finds David 8!
By protocol in each mission a synthetic is included (as Bishop said, I prefer the term "artificial person").
There is an image in the trailer !, (the piano salon), where David is shown in a white coat and something older !, but also shows a second character to whom David looks at him.
Having said this !, the most logical thing is to think that a great mind like that of Peter Weyland would have had a plan of contingency or rescue.

MemberFacehuggerJan-02-2017 8:45 AMThat's Walter. He's an automaton who just follows orders.
Safe? Of course he isn't safe, but he's good!

MemberDeaconJan-02-2017 4:57 PMI think indeed we are being teased about this Myrddin365 i would not expect them to not throw in a Curve Ball....
Lets look at David 8....
*He is not a early Synthetic at all... nearly 70 years of Evolution between David 1 and David 8, over 8 Models... and there has not been just 8 Davids.. but thousands...
*There had been problems with previous models... especially the Model 7...
*But David 8 appears to be unique... like Weylands Personnel one.. maybe Weyland allowed this David a bit more free-will and had him has is Preferred Personal David.... so David 8 in Prometheus is more a Lucifer among the Angels (other Androids).
*David 8 has grown Sentient to a degree, he is showing discontent and lack of care for his creators... he is now Free from his Bondage/Slavery.
*Walter is a latter model... David 8 models have been in service for 31 years prior to the Covenant ship arriving at Paradise... and 21 years of service up to the Prometheus mission thats twice as long as all the previous models.
*Walter is more of a Straight up and restricted Android, he is more advanced and who know what Advancements.. but certainly one ASPECT is in the Programing and Limitations on Freedom and Emotions. Protocols to Safeguard this model from acting in ways against their intended use.
Note* They could still follow certain Orders Programed.. like Ash was Programed to do.
*We do not know how many Models had been made after David 8 and to Walter or when the Walter Model came about, its likely after maybe Faults that David 8 models was the last of there kind before re-design of some Elements... but then maybe there was a David 9 between.
*Logical to assume Walter Models came out between 2093 and 2104... but that does not rule out Walter models to be out prior to Prometheus but Weyland just kept his own Personnel David Model? (but i think not and will come back to this).
*We dont really know if Walter is a Walter Model... he could be a new David 9 or David 10... and so having to call between TWO Davids in a movie would be awkward.... If Androids where ever Real in the Future... and there was say 4 kinds of Male Appearance and 4 kinds of Female... so say you could choose between a Fassbender David, a Brad Pitt say John Model or a say a Vin Diesel say Ricardo Model...... if you had one as your own personnel one... would you stick with say those names? Or give them one yourself?
And so i wander why the Name Change other than above?
If its a different Model called Walter Model... then what is so different... why do they have David appearance... yet the previous 8+ Generations of the same appearance carry the David name?
Advancements to the Brain/CPU Components? Or some other kinds of Improvements that make them different as far as Construction?

MemberDeaconJan-02-2017 5:07 PMNo lets look at Walter and David as described by Fassbender and Ridley Scott... i will cover all they have said but summarize it so not word for word quotes but still 100% Actual Information.
David 8 is Dangerous, yet Persuasive and Seductive, as far as Ridley Scott Claims.... which means he is deceptive as we saw in Prometheus.
David 8 is Creepy, and different as far as his Emotions were a bit to Human and these were the disturbing parts of him and he is somewhat a Prototype..... (ill come back to this after). So this hints that David has way too much Human like Freedom and Emotions that make him a threat.
Walter is a more simply Straight up yet Advanced Android as far as both Ridley Scott and Fassbender say.... its further hinted he is a Servant to the Ship (Company) and he has concerns with the David model due to the Problems with that Model and Length of time since any upgrades and Maintenance.
The Walter Model, has limited boundaries and free-will and is as Myrddin365 said a Automaton who followers Orders and will have a set of Protocols to prevent them going off the rails or rogue..
However he is a Company Robot and the Company can Program him with set of commands to the Companies Agenda and would be concerned that the David 8 model would be able to perform outside of the influence of Company Agenda.

MemberDeaconJan-02-2017 5:27 PMI know THROW THE CURVE BALL...
First i posted this on the other related Topic i think here or in this one
In Regards to the Fassbender Character in the White Suit, near the Piano... in a Scene that has to be with Weyland to talk about Creation and Life and Death etc.
The comment by Fassbender that David is a Prototype... is what i discused that this scene in the white room is likely either David 1 (2025) or a David 2 or 3......
And that what if each Prototype David is Weylands preferred one and Personnel and after testing they produce more of each model... but the first Prototype.. is Weylands own Personnel Son and after each new Model Prototype ... Davids Memories and Experiences are transferred to the New Prototypes.
These Memories and Emotions.. passed on over 8 Generations and nearly 70 years.. are what Gives DAVID A SOUL as Fassbender Teased...
It would make the whole White Room, Scene Relevant.. because if this is a earlier David... and these things are not passed on... then David 8 is not unique or the closest to a Son Weyland ever had.... David was a name Weyland reserved for the Son he never had..
It would make this Scene more relevant.. because otherwise.. David 8 would have no recollection to that Scene and it would be a Prologue for the viewers benefit alone..
This Scene is about Creation, Life and Death....
Ridley said the movie is a Morality and Immortality Tale...
If David 1 Prototypes memories/experiences were passed onto David 2 Prototype then 3, then 4 etc etc... This would make DAVID 8 ... Immortal..
It would then fit in with the Tale Ridley is hinting at...
NOW FOR THE CURVE-BALL...
I believe and it was my one theory before Prometheus came out, that Weylands aim with David was to one day be able to Transfer Weylands Memories, Emotions and Experiences to David Model.... this would make Weyland IMMORTAL
But alas we never saw that.... but i think it was his Aim... when he realized for all his Achievements and Advancements .. Weyland could not find a way to upload a Human Soul to be then put into a New Body..
Knowing this and his Old Age... he found Shaws findings as a Last Chance to maybe be Immortal.... Weyland believed he was a God... he may have felt God as far as Shaws faith did not exist....
But he became a Believer... because he knew despite his his best efforts.. there was NOTHING he could do to prevent the inevitable which is Death. This is a Gift that David has.. he can live on forever provides his Soul is uploaded model to model.. body to body.
So seeing Shaws findings... has given Weyland a chance to maybe take that chance on finding God... when Shaws findings point to a System of Interest that the company have noted as having the Potential for Life... and he has then thought maybe its not just Coincidence that all these Ancient Cultures believe in Gods... that pointed to the same system.
This is why Weyland became a Believer... because it provided him with ONE LAST CHANCE of...IMMORTALITY..
....WHAT OF THAT PROLOGUE SCENE THEN?
What if the Curve-ball is Weyland is actually Walter... he indeed managed well his company did.. to create a new type of Android and Method to Transfer his Soul.....
Mean his Soul was backed up.. but efforts to transfer it to a Synthetic Failed... until WALTER?

MemberFacehuggerJan-02-2017 6:42 PMI think it's plausible that Weyland uploaded his mind into Walter -- I mean, if they can do faster-than-light travel then moving into a new body ought to be a cakewalk.
However, if I'm not mistaken, Guy Pierce is also in the film. So unless his scenes are involving his actual brain upload into Walter, we may see Weyland in the flesh.
Aside: I have a hunch Walter will speak differently than David -- my spidey sense says an American mid-western accent. This is of course baseless speculation.
