An Alien: Romulus sequel is officially in development! As of October 24th, 2024 is was announced officially by 20th Century Studios that the studio had begun preparations for another Alien sequel, following on from Fede Alvarez's Alien: Romulus, which took place between Ridley Scott’s Alien and James Cameron's Aliens. Not only that, studio head Steve Asbell confirmed they were working again with Fede Alvarez, bringing the filmmaker back to direct the next film as well!
What will the next Alien movie be about?
As far as we know, the next Alien film will pick up where Alien: Romulus left off, following Rain and her Android brother Andy. Both Cailee Spaeny and David Jonsson are expected to reprise their respective roles as Rain and Andy as well.
What is the official title for the Alien: Romulus sequel?
Currently no title has been revealed for the next Alien sequel, however we suspect the format will continue the tradition of the Alien moniker followed by a space station or ship's name subheading. Once a title is officially announced this portion of the article will be updated.
When does the new Alien film release?
Currently no official release date has been set for the new Alien film, but considering the film was just announced, it's safe to assume a title will be revealed sometime next year.
Will the next Alien film release in theaters or be a streaming exclusive?
Given Alien: Romulus' financial success at the global box office, it's safe to assume the sequel will also release in cinemas rather than a streaming exclusive, however 20th Century Studios have not yet stated so.
