Predator appearance in Prometheus?!?!?
Fire_Stream21
MemberFacehuggerFeb-21-2017 7:56 AMI recently watched Prometheus for the billionth time (lol) and I noticed that the lights from the predators are in Prometheus (around 1:09:00 in the film... I watch movies on free movie sites IDK). It takes place when Prometheus losses contact with Milburn and Fifield and then the whole team goes back into the ship. Maybe this is what engineers are running from?! I don't know... but what do you guys think?

StaffNeomorphFeb-21-2017 9:00 AMThat's actually called a lens flare. A moment later you see the "laser" move away. The flare is from the 3 lights in his flashlight.
And the Engineers weren't running from predators since Ridley Scott dislikes AVP and doesn't want predators in alien universe.

MemberDeaconFeb-21-2017 9:14 AMBut seriously yes it was a lenses flair
Ridley has no Problem with Predators... he just never saw the point in Merging the Franchises, he thought it was a silly idea and this would be regardless if AVP was a much better movie.
Ridley strongly believes that the two should remain separate.
I do wander if they would explain the written language on the Urns is different to the Engineers on there Doors/Architecture and Technology.

MemberFacehuggerFeb-21-2017 10:26 AMI mean you guys are probably correct, but wouldn't they remove it though before publishing it?
S.M
MemberXenomorphFeb-21-2017 11:46 AMWhy? As has been said - it's a lens flare. Janek's torch has three globes in it, which is what creates it. Lens flares are very common in movies, created by light entering the lens of a camera.
Alex Thomson (DP on Alien3) doesn't like them because they give away that you're viewing the story through a camera. But someone like JJ Abrams likes them so much he digitally adds them.

MemberFacehuggerFeb-21-2017 11:50 AM@S.M IK, but if Ridley would think that the Predator crossing over into the franchise is silly (which he does) why couldn't they just edit that out??
S.M
MemberXenomorphFeb-21-2017 11:52 AMBecause it's a lens flare, and there's no point in editing it out.
There's long horizontal lens flares in Alien from the torches they used. Should he have cut them because they looked a little bit like lightsabers?

MemberFacehuggerFeb-21-2017 11:56 AM@S.M I get your point, but its really REALLY coincidental in this case thanks to AVP. My point is more people could think 'why did they put the predator in Prometheus?' And then criticize it some more, trust me it has gotten a lot of criticism.
S.M
MemberXenomorphFeb-21-2017 12:36 PMNo, it hasn't. The movie's been out nearly five years and 99% of the audience didn't twig one second's worth of a triple lens flare.
Considering the complete absence of Predators in the film - and Aliens - why would anyone care even if they did notice?

MemberFacehuggerFeb-21-2017 4:49 PMIs that a face on the urn, right side level with the 10 on the ruler?
looks like one of those masks that represents happiness in theatre production circles.

MemberNeomorphFeb-22-2017 3:39 AMI think ridley hates more the way the crossover was executed rather than the concept of the crossover if it was done in more the comic and novel fashion with a good script and director. kind of like aliens but with a few predators who have no idea of the xeno thrown into the mix.
BigDave
MemberDeaconFeb-22-2017 8:12 AMI think a AVP if done right could work, and we cant rule out another attempt down the line...
But i think Ridleys stance was he did not see the point, regardless, but i would say the way it was handled is something Ridley was not fond of but i am sure he said he has not seen the movies though.. and does not intend too

Just going along with the general silliness of this thread.

MemberOvomorphFeb-24-2017 6:59 AMNope :-) Ridley and Fox clearly stated more than once their opinions about the AVP movies and no way in hell are they coming into this tale. That´s why Shane Black is making his stand alone movie Predator 4.
Please don´t mingle these two worlds together, it only works in games and comics.

MemberNeomorphFeb-24-2017 10:51 PMthough with a good script and director it could be done properly. I get the avp and avpr sucked but that's because it wasn't done right. should never have taken place in present day earth for a start. id love to see a crossover done right as it does have so much potential.

MemberOvomorphFeb-25-2017 2:05 AMtakes away the purpose of the alien being superficial putting the predator in and turning them into hunting bait for them, come on. i love the alien too much to see it being put down by Cameron and AVP to simple creatures who are hunted or hunt.

MemberOvomorphMay-20-2017 7:11 PMThere's a mask inside the old man's room in Prometheus, that looks like the face plate to a predator mask. It's smaller than it should be, but interesting. Looks like the predator mask Arnold fought in the 1980s.
