would alien isolation make a good movie?

MemberChestbursterJul-16-2017 10:15 PMjust wondering.it has a full enough plot, tons of scares and fans would probably enjoy it. but would it make a good movie? I am asking this because i have a movie trilogy idea that would follow amanda ripley. the first movie would be alien isolation. i will post an in depth plot of my movie ideas soon but for now i am just asking if its a good idea. if you dont think so, Please tell me. My biggest concern with it would probably be that alien isolation the game is like a 14 hour campain that I would have to cram into a 2 and 1/2 hour film, and he other being that most of the scares and deaths you experience in the game are your own. i wouldn't be able to have amanda die like 15 different times. even withought the deaths most of the scares come from a first person perspective. if i were to film the entire film in first person, it would liteally just be like watching a vidiogame. UNLESS, i would introduce the first found footage alien film. that could work with a few tweekings on the plot. remember, this movie is pretty much a hypothetical and wouldent happen for a long time. its sort of my dream though to direct an alien movie. thoughts?

MemberTrilobiteJul-16-2017 10:37 PMTIMMY THE ULTRAMORPH - Having played Alien: Isolation multiple times, I can say for certain: it would make an excellent film. However, whether or not it would actually be created as an excellent film would depend wholly upon the director and studio responsible for its creation. My only compunction with the proposal in general is that it might be too much in the vein of the Doom film from 2008. While the Doom video games are quite fun, the big screen adaptation deviated quite a lot from the core concepts of those games. In the end, I would want Amanda Ripley to be presented as she was in Alien: Isolation: a realistic human being in the midst of an utterly nightmarish series of events for which she is in no way prepared - not some super-heroine running about and killing hordes of aliens without a care in the world. :)

MemberChestbursterJul-16-2017 10:53 PMso pretty much, as long as it sticks to the source material it should be good? thanks. i agree.

MemberOvomorphJul-17-2017 2:25 AMAh, this game is one of my favorites and I am close to platinum trophy for it. The trophy I need to have is to NOT die by the alien. But anyway, the plot itself is good and the characters were good. I liked Ripley and I kind of shipped her and Samuels together because I think he cared for her a little bit. I also have the DLC were you can play as one of the original crew members from Alien in trying to expel the alien from the ship.
In my opinion, this game very much plays like the original movie. It was scary and you had to use your logic to outsmart the beast. This basically was a stealth game because there was really no way to kill the beast. This game is a must if you're a gamer and a fan of the original movie.
The only problem I can see with this being a movie is that maybe it would be too slow for the general audience. It would have to made more 'action-y'. I don't think Alien wouldn't have had the same impact today and as it did back in the day. Most people I've spoken to like Aliens better than Alien because the reasoning being it was more action. It was more exciting. I always say to them that I thought Alien was better because the feeling of hopelessness is what made the movie scary. I think this would be the same issue for Isolation because this game very much relied on stealth.

MemberChestbursterJul-17-2017 10:41 AMWell, the main problem would be that you have to shorten it SIGNIFICANTLY. I think that it would be best as a film if it did retain the three different sections (Like, the first was getting on Sevastapol and killing the Alien, then the long android section, then the multiple alien section), but each would have to be shortened super hard.
That wouldn't be too hard, a competent film could be made without showing every task we had to complete. I think the real trouble would just be how you handle the Alien's appearances. For the game, it drops down at certain moments and then hangs around for, like, ever, and you just have to sit and hide. You would have to completely change that aspect and make it more like Alien, where after an encounter or two, Amanada is running around with the fear that it might show up. Even if it showed up a bit more often, Amanada couldn't just hide ina locker for ten minutes everytime. I think the first act and second act of the game would have to be structured a little bit differently to really make the film work.
Overall, yes Isolation would make a good film. It would just require a little reworking.

MemberPraetorianJul-17-2017 2:35 PMSomething Real I agree about the Doom film. Instead of just giving us the original portal found on mars to hell = demons story, they tried to make up some Resident Evil style storyline that just didn't work. They should've just followed Doom 3, it had a robust enough storyline to adapt to a film.

MemberTrilobiteJul-17-2017 4:47 PMIRAPTUS - I agree with you wholeheartedly, my friend! Mankind discovering a portal to Hell on Mars is an extremely fantastic and simple story - one which would have kept audiences on the edge of their seats if it had been presented properly! :)

MemberPraetorianJul-17-2017 5:01 PMSomething Real here's the plot synapsis for Doom:
"Martian chromosome (called C24) they found and synthesized from the bones discovered, and that not all of those infected will fully transform into creatures. Some of those infected develop superhuman abilities"
How the hell (pardon the pun) does this have anything to do with Doom?
Basically Imps = Mars zombies
not cool.

MemberTrilobiteJul-17-2017 5:11 PMIRAPTUS - Hahaha! Once again, you are quite right, my friend! If the actual demons and undead had been presented in the film, it would have been so much more intense and frighteing! :)

MemberDeaconJul-17-2017 5:35 PMI will have to borrow my brothers PS4...
I have a 10 year old PC that wont play the game, and a PS3 and Xbox 360 and i think you can get the game on those systems but i think a PS4 would do it more justice... i never invested in a new console as i hardly play the others... i buy a lot of games before that like my movies stay sealed in boxes lol
I have spent most the last 2-3 years playing Doom 64 and Doom 1+2 lol Oh and Advanced Wars on the GBA... i had a 3DS when they came out and have 7 games for it but only ever opened and played Street Fighter twice on it lol

MemberFacehuggerJul-17-2017 5:54 PMYes! I am playing it again for the umpteenth time and am in reactor maintenance, What went down on sevastopol after the anesiadora showed up would make a great story, the residents of the station disappearing one by one with people wondering whats going on, then everything descending into anarchy, i bought the the art of alien:isolation and according to the story writers a lot went down on the station before the torrens arrived so you could make a trilogy out of it, but yes TtU, it would make a hell of a movie.

MemberTrilobiteJul-17-2017 7:09 PMWe have discussed this before and yes, it could be a great movie! It could be a good story between Alien and Aliens.
Amanda doesn't need to die. She could float in space and get found like the game suggests. Also, the working Joes could make an interesting dynamic.

AdminPraetorianJul-17-2017 9:18 PMIt would, but honestly the game is enough. Speaking of which, I just watched it all the other day, someone cut the story into a movie and i'm glad because i've had the game and all it's DLC since day one but have been unable to play it since it scares the living shit out of me, lol.
Here's the full "movie", enjoy!
