I would like to think we will.

All things said and done, the Covenant is in exactly the same predicament as when we were first introduced to it.....minus a few characters and + David and a vector for future Xenomorph infestation.

We still have some 2000 odd colonists travelling in a well equipped colonisation ship loaded with terraforming gear (minus one XL dump truck) heading to Origae-6.

It's a clean slate, and the possibilities for what does happen next can be potentially very exciting, regardless of who takes ownership of the franchise.

We could have a world-building premise on Origae-6 with David overlording upon both his colonist subjects and growing xenomorph experiments.

We could have the rumoured War of the Worlds showdown with the Engineers and other players.

We could have a claustrophobic derelict spaceship premise

We could go to LV-426 and set-up the Space Jockey (but please don't)

Hell, we could turn the Covenant around and return to earth and get the Earth Hive story arc.  

The point is, there is a blank slate available to finish these prequel's AND set-up the new direction for whomever takes the reins of the franchise.....providing that more films is part of the plan. Which, damn it, it bloody well better be XD.

Fox wants a wholly original story with completely new characters but your Pitch should draw on all the things that made the original Alien so groundbreaking. 

Is someone looking for a fresh direction?

I think we can all agree that in an ideal world that the Space Jockey should be left a mystery. However, should Ridley Scott ever get around to finishing his series of prequels it's likely he will needlessly retcon the enigmatic creature into something that will likely splinter the already divided Alien fanbase, possibly beyond repair.

In terms of what I think the Space Jockey should be. I have always thought it would be best explored in the story of the subjugation of the Hadley's Hope colony. I always imagined that the colonists, after inevitably failing to save Russ Jorden's life investigated the derelict Juggernaut, and in doing so likely examined the Space Jockey in great detail.

I always pictured one of the colonists studying the SJ realizing its head is a helmet before cutting it open with a cutting torch similar to what Ash used to remove Kane's helmet. However, upon removing the helmet this bust (by Dominic Qwek) represents quite clearly what I would prefer to be uncovered.

I know the Novel River of Pain explored the fate of Hadley's Hope, as too did a recent Dark Horse comic, the name of which eludes me atm. However, I feel the story would be best suited to be told in a TV serial (cough, cough - Disney streaming), with the episodes exploring many of the mysteries of the differences between the 1979 original and the second movie, the colony, the derelict, the egg chamber and Weyland-Yutani's motives, plans, and intentions.

Well, about biomechanical - Engineer from LV-223 already looks biomechanical. Mb black goo created only organic life forms (like as neomorphs). And only Engineers have another technology of biomechanization.

Time-Traveling Walter i am not so sure about, i am not sure that placing a Time-Travel Element to make the Space Jockey appear Ancient is something that would be done...   But going the more Recent Plan which seems to be a Set-Up that David Creates the Xenomorph that will EVENTUALLY end up on the Derelict does pose a few Flaw.

*The Derelict looks a little Different, more Organic and so its a Question of would this be Addressed, does the Ship get INFECTED is it just a Older/Different or Newer Model than the Juggernaught.  Are the Juggernauts Reverse Engineered from the DERELICT? or will this all be a Oversight?

*The Derelict looks like it has been there for more than 10 years, which looking at by the Time David Arrives at Origae-6 it would be 10 years before the Events of ALIEN.

I am not sure they will address these... and IF they reveal David has RE-CREATED the Xenomorph they can By-Pass all of these. HOWEVER if they are continuing with David being the Creator then the following has to happen.

*There has to be a Engineer Ship that comes into play and IT has to eventually have THOUSANDS of Davids Xenomorph Eggs on board and so its likely eventually we may have seen HOW/WHEN this happens.

*There has to be some Evolution to the Xenomorph to get it to be the same as the ONE we see in ALIEN which is less Organic.

And looking at that Last Point... and looking at Alien Covenant being a Direct Set-Up to a Sequel or TWO that will lead to ALIEN then i do think we have to WONDER... where does the Bio-Mechanical Aesthetic of the Xenomorph in ALIEN come from?

And so in part your video does touch upon the Potential for Introducing a  Synthetic Construct and the Fire and Stone Comics gave us ELDEN who could be infected with the Black Goo, and so we can WONDER can such a Synthetic Construct be infected with a FACE-HUGGER?

The MEET WALTER Marketing was interesting as we did hear a lot about DNA imprinting, and while Aesthetically the same on the Outside, Walter is different to David as far as a Component/Construction is concerned and Walter does appear to have some Organic Features well at least Synthetic Ones that Replicate the Internal Look of Organic Components when is this REALLY Necessary? As surely only a Outward Visual likeness to Humans should be enough.

So INDEED i think the Set-Up could have been that a More Modern Synthetic such as WALTER could provide the KEY to the Bio-Mechanical Atheistic to the Xenomorph.

PROMETHEUS was setting up the Philosophy of Sub-Creating and Rebellion by your Creation and the Hubris of Playing with Forbidden Fire.

So having a David Upload himself into a Walter Body which would be likely to happen as David has suffered some Damage over the years and the Walter Models are Evolved/Improved they just Lacked Davids Free-Will.   And David would ideally need to use a Walter Body if he is to Charade as Walter to those Colonist.

And so here is where the GREAT HUBRIS could come from... David getting himself a NEW BODY could in his Hubris leave him Open to be infected by his OWN Creation.

I would certainly think the Plans in Some-Way involved the WALTER Model or a Latter Model being used to Provide that Bio-Mechanical Element to the Xenomorph and so the WALTER-MORPH theory does hold some Weight IMO

Regarding the Colonist and being Replicants... thats a Interesting theory, and WHO knows.   This Deckard could be just a Easter Egg and nothing more.

ONE thing is for sure... the Franchise has Re-Used Concepts/Ideas that never made it into the Movies, and so there is a lot that can be used.

This is the Concept work for Elden who was going to be a Female Synthetic Construct... maybe they could Run with this?

It is what i was going to do with my Alien Covenant Sequel ideas... when a Female Synthetic Construct arrives via a incoming WY Ship and David becomes infatuated with her... he has finally found his Queen, as in the Synthetic Partner to his Agenda to become KING he manages to Tempt Her like Lucifer did with EVE and so he gets her to see to HIS ways, which he attempted and FAILED with Walter.

Latter i would have David working with a Engineer or their Hierarchy and come to a agreement... but then have these beings then USE Davids New Love Interest to EVOLVE Davids Creation.  David then gets his Revenge by being responsible for the Space Jockey Event by way of Sabotage and then DESTROYS LV-223. 

But ONE Ship escapes but the Destruction of LV-223 causes a Temporary Tear in Space that Sends the Derelict Back Thousands of Years.

I think Disney would be looking to see what kind of a Movie would Attract the Most Fans to the Box Office.   I feel they may not follow Ridley Scotts plans and intentions IF they feel this route will only please a selection of Fans.

Time is Ticking away.... i mentioned on another post that the Longer any Sequel is left, the Older Micheal Fassbender will become and the Harder it would be to Portray a Synthetic who should look as close to what David did in Prometheus...    The Longer its left the more we maybe have to either see CGI Overlay/Touch up used, Reduce the Role of David or simply just be put down to a Oversight.

Maybe they could give us a Movie that fits with Prometheus..... i have mentioned before that doing a Ancient Set in the Past Movie like a Med-Evil Engineers so a movie showing WHY/WHEN they came to Visit Earth could be on one hand interesting but on another hard to do as it may not appeal to some.

HOWEVER.... the Scope with Prometheus that has somewhat been closed down with Alien Covenant, was these Engineers are Ancient, Long Living Advanced Genetic Space Gardeners who can Travel to Galaxies and not confined to our Galaxy.... so the POTENTIAL for Worlds these beings have Created/Seeded and Visit is VAST.

So we could be given a Engineer Connected World... another EARTH they have visited that is Thousands and Thousands of Light Years away or maybe even in another GALAXY were they could have Humans or Very Close to Humans and show the Relationship between the Engineers and their Creations...  on this WORLD pretty much how it may have continued on EARTH had the Problem that Arose to make the Engineers decide to Eradicate Mankind on Earth 2000 years ago not occurred.

Could set up a Beautiful Majestic World where Ancient Culture/Architecture that was on Earth 2000-4000 years ago meets some Engineer Technology and so a World just like Planet 4 in its Prime, that maybe meets a bit of HR Giger Style Industrial Bio-Mechanical Aesthetic.

The PROBLEM is would such a Movie be something most Fans (inc None-Alien) would want to see, would they know what movie it is and if they know its connected to Prometheus/Alien Covenant would the Stigma that those Movies had, effect Fans wanting to see any such Engineers based movie?

So i think Disney would only want to Tackle a Alien Franchise movie that more connects to the Original Franchise, and Right Now we see a lot of Fans are Disappointed with David his Character the Emphasis on the Prequels being about him and how he CREATED the Iconic Xenomorph.

So i do think thats a Concern....

Maybe Disney would be Safer to make a Movie Sequel to the Alien Isolation Game?  Then they can Gauge if there is a Market for Alien/Xenomorph movies still.

The thing with Star Wars is that Disney is locked in for Episode 9 and another Star Wars Story.  They locked themselves in on the new trilogy.  It HAS to be done.

I feel like the prequels of the Alien franchise could go anywhere, but I don't think Disney is going to let the franchise, as a whole, sit in limbo.  We're likely to get Alien: Awakening from Disney which would be in line with what Disney thinks an Alien movie should be like.  This way Disney can test the waters before locking into to a new trilogy, much like they did with the Star Wars franchise.  I just don't think Disney can leave a hit franchise alone until their idea of whatever franchise they pick fails and is proven an economic drain.  Disney just has to see that their formula fails before the franchise they own fails.  Plus, I'm sure Scott is pissed about his prequels not being 'green lighted' like he thought they would be.

Hopefully the final prequel will be sooner rather than later.  I hope Scott gets to finish his "baby".  Still, Disney can't wait to long or they could lose more interest in the franchise than what Alien: Covenant did to Prometheus.  This massive space between prequel sequels is just a little much.  I'm afraid the story could get a little lost if there is a big gap.  At the very least, it would be more difficult to connect the dots of the prequels as whole.

We're just gonna have to wait and see who is the winning bidder.  I guess nobody wants to spend money on movies if they don't have to spent until all ownership rights are fair and square.  Makes sense to me.

By the way, I really like the first photo.  It reminds me of Prometheus.  It's kind of creepy and mysterious.  It just shouts what the Alien franchise should be.

As for the articles plagiarised, I am going to blog about it, show all the facts so there really can't be any mistake about what happened.

Don't get me wrong, I love it here. When your community posts stuff it is amazing content and I even promote my favourite posts from here on my Tumblr and always crediting the original posters. It's only fair.

The internet can be a strange place where we are all really just finding our feet, so I will just chalk it up to what was done in the past is in the past. But let's not forget it or we can't learn from it.

But as you say ignorantGuy its not easy.... because of the system is not actually real, or even based on anything real....  Another Problem is a number of times the Writing Appeared in Prometheus it was a jumble of Characters with NO meaning at all...   Not that i could figure out anyway... especially the Cryo-Pods... 

Wayne Haag did mention that some of the Writing in Alien Covenant was actually thought out more and so meant something...  but i guess which ONES could be a question only he could maybe Answer?

The Cryo-Pods are the same in both movies, but then if the first one it had NO meaning then to keep it looking the same as the other movie they would have thought it was best to Replicate the Prometheus layout.. rather than have NEW Hieroglyphs/Cuneiforms  that meant something related to the Device they were inscribed on.

I really  like the Cavernous Corridor piece, its just a shame we never got to explore enough of the Interior of the Engineers Architecture a little more.

It would be nice to see more in another installment, however IF Disney take over, it appears they have COLD FEET over how disapointing Han Solo did at the Box Office, and i think how disapointing Alien Covenant has been and especially the Negative Reaction more than Box Office.

I do Fear we may have to WAIT a long time before we get another ALIEN movie, especially if Disney take ownership, purely because they would only take on a Project that will Guarantee a good Return.

As far as the OT...

its a case of how easy things can be misinterpreted and who knows what the real deal is.

It appears Waynes Comment could be taken as  a Tease... but then it could simply be him making a comment because he maybe constantly hears over and over about the next Alien Project so his reply could have been in frustration...

Or unintentionally taken the way it has been taken by some Fans.... as him teasing he is working on a Project...

Wayne Haagg is a Concept Artist who has more than just Alien movies to his BOW the kind of Work he does is especially suited to EPIC sets/scenes as far as Matt Painting for Projects like MERLIN and it could be that Wayne gets his fair share of messages regarding the Next Alien Project... and people jumping on the Bandwagon that everything he is doing next could be connected.  Must get a bit Tedious to him at times.

It could be he is working on Merlin... if he has a NDA he may not be able to Confirm Anything...

I think we needed to look at the Likelihood of any Alien movie being in Production, i think with the Result of Alien Covenant and Take Over Talks, i would assume not much is happening behind the Scenes.

So if Wayne is working on a Project that he cant say what, even if its Merlin he cant say what he is working on, and maybe even what he is not.

in Hindsight his reply should have been something like "Sorry Cant say, but its not Alien"  but then maybe under a NDA this then would leave only Merlin?  But we have to Remember Ridley Scott works on Many Many Projects and NOT all are Movies...  And i am sure a Director like him would always be willing to use Concept Artist/Matt Painters he has worked with before, just as much as he works with some Actors he has worked with before.

I Do think Merlin is a Project that RS could use as a Stepping Stone to push any ideas for Alien Awakening, and WHO knows if he and Wayne when working on what ever Projects have a Chat about ALIEN, its likely it would come up, but this does not mean it is to discus the Future movie or that any Official Work would be done....  and so it would ONLY maybe be a Chat about the Great Relationship/Work on Alien Covenant purely as a a Conversation piece and not WORK  and there is NO way we would know if they have/had and will have such conversations... and if they did, its maybe personnel casual chat and NO way officially setting up any work for the next Project

ONE thing is for Sure... Ridley Scott would hope to get a Green Light on his Alien Saga and it would not be surprising if Wayne Haag is on his list of people to get on board to do another FANTASTIC job.

But Unfortunately neither OWN the Franchise and so they really cant have any real impact on determining IF/WHEN the Next Movie Happens..  Ridley Scott would LOVE to make another, and you can be sure Wayne Haag would love to work on it... but its out of their hands and so i think it can be frustrating for them to be Quizzed about the Project that they have NO control over.

Hey like I said, I have had issues in the past with Scified copying my stuff and it was fixed up. 

I do however hold anyone in the community responsible for besmirching anything including their own website.

And I am glad you caught that it was Horror Freak News Chris, I was just testing you were paying attention. So you know if you find the information you should also clarify it, and the other tweets which you missed before they were deleted didn't say Covenant was in production.

I believe several people contacted you when you started sharing the article to make sure you knew you made a mistake.

I know my blog is little and your site has massive amounts of exposure.

But please don't take me holding Chris P accountable as a reach for followers.

I have had my blog and name removed from this site because I didn't feel comfortable with content I worked hard to get to be put on here so Chris P could make a buck, to be honest.

As with yourself, this community has been nothing but supportive towards MUTHUR, which makes her unprovoked assault that much more of a betrayal.

Also, I did not reference news from Bloody Disgusting, in fact someone on these forums shared the news from I believe it was Horror Freak News? I would need to double check but I used Haag's Tweets themselves as the resource for this post.

Attempting to cause drama on a site which you do not own or are affiliated with in an attempt to gain exposure for yourself is cheap and smart, but sadly will only create a certain impression of who you are and how you operate. Also - to insinuate I copied content from your rather small and relatively unknown blog is a bit of a reach as well - and rude. I'm sorry to offend but I do not visit your blog, I think I may have come across it once through a direct link share on Facebook which you posted - beyond that I do not use your content for anything of value here. I would thank you not to throw accusations of copyright infringement around as insinuating so is considered slander - something you may wish to educate yourself on as well. Not something I'm surprised by however, from someone who collaborates with "Mr. H".

Thus, because it ends with a question mark this article is speculative and not a statement, therefore this article is not news. Because this article is not news, the claims that it is "fake news", and the accusations that we are spreading "false hope", both of which can be found within an article on your blog are therefore unfounded.

In an article on your blog, within your recent podcast, and in your comments to this very article here you have instigated, perpetuated and continued an unprovoked assault against our admin, our network, and our reputation. You have also instigated an organized boycott of all of our sites and social media pages. Not only are your claims against our practices, admin and content unfounded they are merely an echo of those directed towards us recently from the YouTuber Mr. H Reviews, which were just as unfounded then as they are now, as I have covered in previous comments.

What is worrying and telling both is much like a vegan eating a beefburger is that you deem it appropriate to berate and vilify us while masquerading as an active member of our network. If you wanted exposure for your fledgling blog you could have simply asked and we would have gladly promoted and supported your endeavor, and extending our years of experience and practice to help you succeed. I understand I have asked in the past to not plagiarise information that has been posted to my blog, I have noted two times this has happened and I approached the people in question and asked that the information is taken down. I also spoke to Chris P on Facebook and he assured me it won't happen again.

The things I don't like that have been done have been addressed and always remedied.

I suggest you write up a code of conduct for your site and perhaps have your contributors read up on these two article links I have posted here.

And if you're not hearing any news on production or anything it's probably because it isn't.

Lol, well when I first brought him home from the hospital, I actually tried having Prometheus on in the background while I was feeding him, but I guess the movie sounds pretty ominous instinctively because he stopped eating and his face looked like this: O_O; and then I felt sort of bad :-/

For me that "I'm sorry, did you say something?" from Wayne Haag sounds like he is tired and irritated by our obsessive questions about the Covenant sequel. I don't think he is held by an NDA, it's just he simply has nothing to share on this topic and he is frustrated by misinterpretation of his words. Misinterpretation that was not at all deliberated, people just want to get their toy back from Dismay.

That is how I see it.

Is it journalistic integrity when in a 30-minute podcast labeled to be about the recent bidding war for 21st Century Fox you spend over 20 minutes perched upon a presumed pedestal of superiority while dragging a site, of which you are inexplicably a member, through the proverbial mud for running a speculative article. Is it journalistic integrity that in said podcast you are joined by a YouTuber friend who mere months ago needlessly attacked said site on his preferred platform of YouTube before reiterating his attack on the site in question even though the initial purpose of their video mirrored that of the article it berated - to inform and warn their respective fandom of a rumor.

This isn't our job. No-one gets paid for posting articles on Scified. As fans, this network of sites is our hobby, our pastime, our escape. We have bled years into making this small corner of the internet our own. Throughout our endeavour we have been hacked, plagiarized, insulted, taken advantage of, and even abused by the very studios we are providing free advertising to.

This article now has over 20,000 views. In part because of this needless drama you and your YouTuber cohort have instigated against us, but also in part because we have a lot of non-vocal fans and followers who associate with our network and our community of fans of which we are part of. I find it perplexing that you are attacking the very admin and community of a site you have previously been an active part of. Did someone here offend you in some way and you are now lashing out? Or is your attack a bid to gain an audience of your own for your fledgling blog?
