G = General Audience (at least in the U.S.) It's assigned to kid-friendly movies.

Please people not again such rating worries. All alien movies were rated in most countries around the world with age of 15 or 16. The us strangely Gave an r rating though and in the UK they first rated 18 then re-rated to 15. So calm down!

@CBT1979 this is true, when they released the directors cut of Alien in 2003 it was a 15 rating in 1979 when it was first releasd it was an X (thats an 18 now) I had to sneak in to see it as I was only 12 at the time boy did that film scare the hell out of me. when I went to see it in 2003 I did notice some small cuts here and there but the chestburster scene was not touched Parkers death was differant (as I remember it)

@hukerlover Exactly. The directors cut showed the blood dripping down on parker and ripley was Added, but the death of parker was same where tge alien bites his head With his inner jaw. I think nowadays audience can take Much more than 20 years ago. when i watch a chestburster scene it never scares me anymore, because It is routine now :)

I wouldn't be happy about Prometheus being a 12. To be honest i can't see it happening. Theres no way Ridley Scott would make a film that requires you to think about the horror of space, the possibilities of our origin and even use H.R Gigers work, for a child to watch.

But its certainly possible that the studio told Ridley: "[i]Make the theatrical cut PG-13 or you don't get your budget.[/i]" After careful consideration, Ridley might say "[i]Well, I don't want to compromise my idea by making it PG-13, but that seems to be the only way I'll be able to get this done...Hold on..maybe I can make this work...[/i]" Of course that's just wild speculation, but if that's what happened, we just have to trust in Ridley until we see the movie.

i dont mind a pg 13 but im concerned at my cinema experience if it is... all those kids chattering through the film and slurping kia ora and munching frankie hotdogs urghhh the thought terrifies me more than the film.

It is a danger that fox would ruin a good film for the sake of a few pounds/dollars but i think Ridley has enough sense to stand his ground on the matter. Isn't Ridley producing this film aswell as directing it, surely he has a bigger say in the matter anyway? That being said, as far as i am concerned Fox can go fuck themselves if they think they can ruin this.

a few pounds!... no a film like that can have a significant revenue turnaround if you let the kids in to see it but at the expense of a compromised film.

I understand what you are saying but i think you are giving Kids to much credit here. This isn't Transformers, this is a film that has a big following because of Alien and the vast majority of that following are 18 and up. I would think Ridley knows his target audience and wouldn't sell out.

Ridley can go fuck himself if he even thinks he can pass of a PG...Im sorry but that is a deal breaker...might as well not bother making the fucking film..do it right or dont do it at all

Not for gore or any specific reason other than I just want Ridley to face the least possible amount of restriction when making his movie. But if Ridley says he can make it PG-13 (not PG), then I'll give him the benefit of the doubt until I see the film.

I agree with Jeystone - I love RS and his seminal Alien film, but if this becomes some kind of corporate marketing money making spin rather than a piece of adult art then Fuck off. The kids have their bubblegum wrapped disposable bullshit movies on tap - For fucks sake give the adults something to chew on for once. And no, when I have previously posted a passionate plee such as this, I think it was "walterhiller" who was like "fuck you, this is Ridleys 2001 go back to your Freddie Kruger films" - Fuck that response, I'm not after a freddie Kruger experience prick! I want a really dark, but provocative experience that isnt just blood and gore but dips into the darkest areas of the human phych - Something that really unnerves us. Not some kiddy/Walt Disney "Diet Horror" shit.

Well talking 2D or 3D I hope to watch an 18 version 3D. I understand your view point but I have only seen Avatar in 3D and IMO the 3D was very effective (not saying anything else about the film though). I know people have complained about 3d in films but I presume that is because not many films have actually been FILMED in 3D just converted later and this is prejudicing them against it. If a GOOD director actually films in 3D with the planning that is involved (i.e. JC Ridley and Peter jackson) then I'm sure the results will be well worth it.

@Shabou, Do we need another trailer you ask. YES! YES! YES! For fun of course.. the irony is, I don't want any of the mystery to be revealed. I bet that trailer only has about 1/20th of the composition of the movie. But yes, it has built a little too much anticipation though.. lol

it's very good but i think its just fan made its very much like Gigers work though so maybe and i think that would put payed argument on whether the film is PG13 or an R get see fox letting that bugger in a PG13 Kinder makes sense aswell if David mutates he is the mechanicle side oe the xeno
