Thoughts_Dreams - These are the drug posters of the AC marketing, no doubt. :)
BigDave - '...because when we got the name COVENANT i think a lot of us was wondering how can this name fit into the Franchise and Connections.'
It means nothing, it's just the name of the ship. :DDDDDDDD
Ridley 79 - Of course, I'll inform you, I've watched the first moments of it, I think I'll like it.
BigDave - 'As far as a Name? I would think that ALIEN: DISSOLUTION Would fit... as it can be put down as AD which marks the 2000 years ago period also Dissolution is synonymous with Death, but also the Natural Dissolving of Elements, or Disintegration which is what we do see the Black Goo can do and Certainly the Sacrificial Goo
Dissolution also also meaning the ending of a Agreement, a Partnership (Covenant) and so i think it fits in well with the Back Story for Prometheus, if these Engineers on LV-223 were indeed our Watchers, who look over us...'
I find your idea very strong.
cuponator3000 - You found the same wiki source! :)
Ati- Cool let me know what you think hope you'll enjoy it ;)
Ridley 79 - And done! :)
I'll watch your version when I have time.
Gavin - Please, go on. :)
This October will be very-very long!!!
Ridley 79 - You're welcome.
You can do the same in your topic as well. Just use an Enter right after the link, that's all.
Lone and sosse and BigDave - My pleasure and glad you like it!
Lone - 'I've been on a quest to find out who designed the beautiful renaissance style poster? I wondered if it was Gutalin, but probably not. Is this a signature?'
Unfortunately I don't know who the creator is.
As for the segment you zoomed in, yes, I think that is a signature. If I see well, there are three letters: gHZ.
sherris - 'Ati got A:C on his back !! Well done. Enjoying the effort you put in which is quite different to the norm and always prompts a thought or 2'
Thank you very much for these words! But we should admit I am not the only one. I must name Ingeniero, his articles are very creative and informative. He creates, I usually/only share photos, images, ideas, etc - and that is a big difference.
Thoughts_Dreams - 'Holy shit! Eeh, the title opens this post up for various poop jokes.'
And you are always the one who delivers these jokes. :D
Thank you for your support. :)
Yes, these look awesome, but I think it's OK that they used the versions appearing in the Covenant. Probably they wanted to show/stress the difference.
For nostalgia fans, they did this in Time Bandits (1981).

sorry dp ranter
The lack of time on the murals was a let down for me. i couldnt make out what they were changing into or exactly from. A new character who happens to be my favourite as we know so little about him. The Bird Faced Creature. I think he has something to do with the first ever egg. I also feel that the comment "This is the blood of our lord..." from the original Prometheus script could be linked to this awesome creature.
Go on shoot me down. its only an artist having freedom - well im not accepting that !!!!
I love Prometheus even with its story presenting silly actions to situations all of which could of been avoided with small dialogue. Without those couple of silly incidents which like i say could of been fixed with small dialogue it was a damn near perfect film which easily opened up a universe with endless possibilities.
I think every last comment is in there for a clue to something else and the more we watch the more is unveiled.
For those reasons it is one of my favourite films of all time. Even with its few flaws it deals with creation on so many levels and also the possibility of somehow getting to see the real gods. Not the Enineers 223 or the Elders as we thought. Maybe a higher power will come into pay. it all links back to pre visitation and throws out darwins thoughts. such a lovely set of ideas put together and made as one of the most thought provoking films of our generation.
So yes i think there is a lot more to Prometheus than we can soak in in one watch ????
Ati got A:C on his back !! Well done. Enjoying the effort you put in which is quite different to the norm and always prompts a thought or 2
Fire !!
WOW! Like those much more than the one they chose. Keep these for Covenant 2....hopefully.
Thoughts_Dreams that could be a Marvel movie. Super heroes are needed to stop that evil doctor breathing.
Regrettably I have only watched 15 new movies this year out of the 59 in all movies not counting repeat views of Covenant. This year has kind of been light on great movies, at least in large quantities like 2016. Plus we still have huge hits yet to reach normal cinemas like The Killing of a Sacred Deer, The Square, Bladerunner, The Florida Project, and apparently a Paul Thomas Anderson film in December. Of course those will be for the Top 10 list.
5. John Wick 2. I really did not like this one compared to the first, the action and cinematography seemed to take a nosedive in comparison. It is still a better action movie than what has come out of America in a long time!
4. Lego Batman. This was an amazingly funny film, taking the runaway success and quality of the first Lego Movie and perhaps enhancing it. A thoroughly enjoyable film, funny to the very end, not stopping for the “plot” to advance it keeps the intelligent laughs going. Why can’t more modern comedies be this witty and clever?
Now we have the top 3 and this is where it gets heavy. These are the biggest movies of the year so far and one is not to be missed.
3. Alien: Covenant. Saw this 3 times in the cinemas and it was better each time. A thrill ride that makes breathing difficult and seldom lets off the gas. The Android scenes are masterclass
2.Good Times. Robert Pattinson kills it in every movie I have seen him in! (The Rover [Perfection], Cosmopolis [Great movie], and now Good Times). This man was stellar in his performance and the Directing was phenomenal. Covenant had intense moments? Well Good Times had almost nothing but! My stomach was clenched throughout the film as there was so much dread and uneasiness. Plus the Soundtrack was outstanding, very nostalgic but doing its own thing with inspirations from 80s synth soundtracks like Vangelis. Not one to be missed.
1. mother! Now this is a very important film and should not be missed by anyone. A haunting metaphor layered by wonderful performances and beautiful cinematography. A tour de force and one that will leave you feeling sick and moved. A slow burn but still at the same time an enthralling psychological thriller taking you on a wild ride of emotions and gut clenching uncertainty. I would not say this beats Aronofsky’s Black Swan but it is dang near close to the power of that film that it deserves this number 1 spot.
Those last 3 were difficult to rank but that is what makes ranking movies so fun. An honorable mention would go to The Big Sick, a cute love story/coming of fame Comedian story.
Was not thrilled with Logan, Kingsman 2, GotG 2, Kong, and shockingly Baby Driver. BD was the biggest upset of the year, with such a pedigree and a perfect Director it was bound to be amazing. I am not sure what happened and Wright still has 4/5 perfect movies so that works for me! Kingsman as well, the first was an instant classic yet I found the second to be shallow and hollow.
Anus Mouth could be the name of a villain in a movie. “Our heroes must stop the evil doctor Anus Mouth before he destroys the world with his stinking breath!”.
I bet that the movie would become a hit. ;)
The third drawing is the best IMO.
Daliens: I have seen that drawing before. Imagine how nasty that it would look like in a movie.
As far as ass-bursters go, imagine how it would feel like if you got to take a crap when it is one that is on its way out but then it comes out like a Xeno explosion from the ass. Holy shit! Eeh, the title opens this post up for various poop jokes.
The first one is better, the elongated part in the second picture has a shape of a dick. At least the second image follows the style of Giger sort of.
If that means a movie that would mean less David and more about the humans then sure. Scott is good with the visuals but that is that. He directed AC and Prometheus and they are both underwhelming so they probably wouldn't do worse with a new director, they got to look around carefully before they decide who to go with.
The ship has a nice design and reminds me of the derelict in some way (the first picture). Is it only me that make the derelict connection when I see it?
The second picture looks strange, that is how I imagine how people who are high on acid see things. I like the picture but it looks kind of odd compared to the rest. Search for LSD art in a picture search and you see what I mean.
The facehuggers in the first picture look a bit like they have the shape of almost a marijuana plant. Search for that if you want to see the similarity.
I like all of them, I don't have a favorite.
By the way, the title Alien in (under? I am not sure if it is a part of the first picture or not) the first picture reminds me of how they started the old Star Wars movies when they gave us the backstory to the movies (4-6).
As far as Alien Resurrection is concerned I don't have any problem that it isn't there.
Agree Michelle...
Such a shame most of this appeared to be brushed under the carpet and only a bit kept, purely as they could not ignore everything regarding David and Shaw.
Its a shame as i think a Movie/Novel Set at the Period of the Crossing could have been very interesting, the clues we have are ambiguous and so there could be many ways this could have been explored.
I think some IMPORTANT things have to be considered regarding the Character of Dr Shaw and David and their Agendas.
David: I think it was set up to show that David had gained more free-will, certainly more than Androids would have been permitted and while he was their to serve Weyland, David realizes the flaws of Mankind and David sees himself as superior, yet we see David is treated as just a Tool by mankind, while he is very Emotionally Complex, he is just a Machine, and so i think he resents some of the actions and opinions aimed at him. Such as the treatment by Holloway.
I have the feeling that the Gift of Davids Free-will and programing to make him more Weylands Son, actually leads to David actually feeling he is more than just a Robot... he begins to feel the only difference between him and a Human is that one is a Biological Machine, the other a Synthetic and while David does not have a Soul... the Question is does Mankind have a Soul... because if there is NO SOUL as far as the Spirit that lives on in a After-Life, then indeed Mankind has nothing over David apart from being able to Re-Produce.
A Soul can be defined, by a persons Actions and Deeds, and Good Deeds could make someone have a Good, kind Soul.. which David had noted that Dr Shaw had.... where as Wicked and Selfish Deeds could show someone to have a Bad Soul... like Peter Weyland.. And so for David his actions and responses could govern what kind of a Soul David has.
We can also look at a Soul as being the collective Memories and Experiences that we have in Life, each Experience Shapes us as a Person, each Memory is what defines us. The Concept of a Soul is when we pass on then our Memories/Experiences Live on as they are our Spirit and not just a Storage of Memories/Experiences imprinted on our Brains.... for if it is the case of the latter, that there is NO SOUL as in The Spirit.. Then its our Memories and Experiences that are a SOUL and if this is the case then indeed David would have a SOUL and this is something Fassbender Pondered
And so Once Weyland was gone, David is free, as free as you and i are to make our own choices. Davids upbringing and interaction/treatment would certainly effect his Moral Compass, having been brought up by Weyland and how Weylands Pursuit of Immortality and Creation which leaves behind a Legacy so we can be Immortalized by our Creation or Great Deeds. This is very much where the Ozymandias Poem fits well, as its to show that when a Person has gone... what is left to remember them by is their Works and Monuments built in their name/image but in time these things can be forgotten and crumble to dust.
So i think this imprints on to David, and how he can not be Human because he can-not create... not how a Human can, and so he would from seeing how Weyland was, he would want to create his own Legacy and Works.
Dr Shaw: She had her faith tested, what she hoped to find in meeting our makers, ended up being totally different to what her Faith would have suggested... yet she still holds onto the Notion of a Higher Power and that someone/something must have Created the Engineers and who ever this being or what ever is, must have had some reason for Creating the Engineers, or if the Engineers have no Creator, then Dr Shaw would want to know why was we created, visited, taught things and then abandoned.
So for her Shes has NOTHING for her getting the change to meet these Beings in the slight hope she may get her answers at the risk she will get Not and Death, is all Elizabeth has to live for. For Her, her life no longer matters, she just wants Answers and wishes to Pursue those Answers even if the chances of getting any are remote and the chances that Death awaits is High.
DAVID... being Immortal to a degree however, would want to LIVE, he is free, and i think he does not see himself as a mass of Circuits, and Synthetic Mechanics... he would not want to go and RISK meeting these beings with the potential that he would more than likely ended up disembodied like he was the last time he came Face-Face with one of these Would be GODS.
David also grew fond of Dr Shaw, because how she treated him, he would have felt that at last someone is treating him more than a MACHINE.. so David would grow to Care for Dr Shaw, and he would not want to see her Die... he is fond of her and her Companionship.
And so for him, he would see the Chances of being accepted by the Engineers being slim, where as if he chose to Destroy them, he could Salvage Dr Shaw some Answers from the Ruins... and Guarantee his and Dr Shaws Survival.
David would not doubt be intrigued in the Bio-Weapon and Creation and the "Sometimes to Create One must First Destroy" comment could show us that there was more to the Engineers plans than just to Lay Mankind Waste... and so this is something i am sure David would be interesting to explore.
No Doubt... he discovers a bit more between the end of Prometheus and prior to arriving at Planet 4/Paradise about the Engineers, i think there is a lot that could be explored regarding Dr Shaw and David.
The starting a NEW EDEN is interesting and i feel a missed opportunity, when we saw the leaked Photos of Davids workshop and those Humanoid Skulls, and those Baby-Head Xeno/Neomorphs... it had me wondering how did David get these things?
At the time i did wonder, could they have been DR SHAWS Children? i feel this was a interesting thing they could have explored, that would fit with the COVENANT theme...
Dr Shaw... has NOTHING... if David also then lays waste to the Engineers then Dr Shaw has no way of getting her answers, only by what David can find out..
But what if David can offer Shaw some Solace?
What if he tells her he could find a way so she can be able to Bare Children? Something Dr Shaw thought she could never have... only Child Birth she had was the None-Traditional Demon Child that lead to the Deacon.
I feel that they could have explored that David could propose a way to allow her to create, this could have been explored in a number of ways.. Can David find a way to allow Dr Shaws Egg Cells to become Humanoid Off-Spring? Could David obtain some Engineer SEED?
I think the possibility could have been more Horrific, if David managed to Impregnate Dr Shaw to have a Child or Twins... a Male/Female Pair and then have it where it appears Dr Shaw now has a chance to start a New Eden in the confines of the Juggernaught until the outside is SAFE...
Then have it where one of her Children gets infected, maybe this happens after Dr Shaw has rejected Davids Advances? maybe this Child David keeps from Dr Shaw, not wanted to allow her to see what becomes of it.
David would then be fascinated at the Hybrid that the Child has become and Kick Start his infatuation with the Engineer Experiments..
David comforts Dr Shaw and makes it known he loves her and they can create another Child, she Rejects him and David reacts bad to this and goes off the Rails... and then decides to use Dr Shaw and her Egg Cells for his experiments...
This is something i was thinking about...
However the Concept Art etc now confirms that David managed to obtain Engineer Babies and Infants and this is how those Baby Skulls had arrived in his Workshop.
But alas... i feel a better story could have been told, i feel THE CROSSING deserved a deeper story, and we can only hope maybe ADF could do a book that covers the events from when Dr Shaw had recovered Davids Body/Head right to the Point that Dr Shaw had died and Davids experiments and leading up to when he Set off that Signal to attract more HOSTS.
I think this is why some people was disappointed with AC and how it did not cover the Engineers, because when we got the name COVENANT i think a lot of us was wondering how can this name fit into the Franchise and Connections.
Because in broad Terms a Covenant is a Pact/Agreement between TWO parties (or more) and i think we may have been wondering what kind of Pacts/Agreements could be explored... or even the breaking of a Pact/Agreement.
In Biblical Terms, a Covenant is a Pact Between GOD and Mankind.
Sadly we never saw such a theme explored....
As for the Short it looks very nice, but i will watch it after when i find my headphones as i have my Speakers someplace i have not used for years... as the Monitor i had, had built in speakers... until it Died on me 5-6 Months ago.
i like the LV-223 Outbreak idea, it would be interesting to see this explored, i may even consider doing my own take on either this event or the Crossing.
As far as a Name? I would think that ALIEN: DISSOLUTION
Would fit... as it can be put down as AD which marks the 2000 years ago period also Dissolution is synonymous with Death, but also the Natural Dissolving of Elements, or Disintegration which is what we do see the Black Goo can do and Certainly the Sacrificial Goo
Dissolution also also meaning the ending of a Agreement, a Partnership (Covenant) and so i think it fits in well with the Back Story for Prometheus, if these Engineers on LV-223 were indeed our Watchers, who look over us...
But something happens where they decide to No longer, look over us and scrap any agreement they had with their purpose for coming to Earth.
Also what ever Pact and Reason they had to do with the whole Creation/Evolution of Mankind, as far as the Sacrificial Goo and its Purpose and so they decide to USE this TOOL in a way that was not intended and use it on something related to the Xenomorph and thus created the Black Goo version which then leads to the downfall of those Engineers where it appeared many of them had dissolved to NOTHING...
Indeed there was some very interesting alternative Face Fugger Designs, i would have liked a Prequel to had touched upon some of the other designs... much like how the Mural had TWO of them.
I would have loved to had seen more of these.
Thanks for the Share.... i had seen this quite some time back and its a very interesting poster, lots of neat little secrets.
Thanks for the Share....
Its a nice design, it would be interesting to see Engineer like Scout ships in future movies or Comics.
Thanks for the Shares, i think the first one has some flaws, but the idea is nice. I like the design on the second one... but the last one has to be the pick of the bunch.
