Star Trek TOS reminds me of an episode where war was constant enough that it was normal. With technology, combat became obsolete and was a war of attrition. It was about numbers. It would come down that a country had to cough up 1000 citizens and they were vaporized. Names came up and they reported to the chamber for the war effort. Another country had to do the same. Nice, clean, tidy, patriotic and never ending. Does BR go in this direction?
colonialsoldier Exactly what I thought- Resurrection deserves some love.
colonialsoldier It is a callback to the famous "Esper" scene in Blade Runner. But changing enough things to make it original.
No Alien Resurrection? lol
Excellent scene. I cannot wait to next week.
For the record, I was not too crazy about the movie Arrival, but I his other movies Sicario and Prisoners are excellent movies. Those movies has showed he has a great visceral eye too and I will put him up there with Blomkamp in helming an Alien movie.
@Walter, I understand your opinion but I only think that the original Alien movie that Ridley directed was the best. I think his Prometheus and Covenant sucked.
Just like George Lucas broke ground with his Star Wars; the Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi were directed by other directors. The Empire Strikes back is considered the best Star Wars movie and sequel. George Lucas returned with the prequel movies and was lambasted for it. I did think he redeemed himself with Revenge of the Sith but it still was not great as the original trilogy movies. Then JJ Abrams made the latest movie and revived the series. Now, two other directors will direct the next installments.
Cameron's Aliens was also considered a masterpiece and I consider Alien3 a much better story and film compared to Prometheus and Covenant. With the current box office of Alien Covenant, the studio will not be considered foolish if they moved forward with a different director.
But I do not place the whole blame on Ridley. He was given a crappy screenplay and he is trying to bandaid on what he got. If 20th Century Fox will approve this man another budget, I just hope the story gets as far from David and the Engineers as possible. Keep that android philosophy in the Blade Runner movies.
APP "I can read your mind". Interesting song and maybe a little creepier since it is a dark message packaged in a soothing sounding song.
That's a good song. I never ventured much into Judas Priest even though I had my metal phase. And I remembered them for contributing to the "Heavy Metal" movie.
Searching....logging in....in the meantime, here is the mighty Priest with the prophetic Electric Eye!

Same title: "Eye in the Sky". A top 5 song in 1982, actually same year Blade Runner was released.
What song? I never followed APP.
dk And The Alan Parsons Project :-)
Reminds me of Electric Eye from Judas Priest-
Electric Eye
In the sky
Feel my stare
Always there.
Yes, exactly. "Eye in the sky" (not to confuse with the title of another PKD novel) with Helen Mirren is a good example of how this happens today. At the end of the Blade Runner clip you can see the satellite shimmering high up in the sky. It is a moment that brilliantly translates the sense of paranoia that pervades Philip K. Dick's works.
Johner- Terrorists?
It is also chilling for another reason. Warfare in the form of airstrikes basically can happen this way- from remote places. Makes it seem more like a video game and can remove some humanity since the one calling the shots doesn't have to get down and dirty. In fact, he/she can sip coffee and/or get nails polished- nice and tidy for those folks.
Yes, this looks to be a pretty good movie indeed.
Thanks for sharing.
Wren talks with complete confidence that he can handle the situation. His voice is raised, "Do you know what the penalties for terrorist activity are?"
ELGYN - Everybody calm down, we can work this out. There's no need to get emotional....
(Christie is silent, hands behind his back)
BigDave from what I've read so far in the ADF novel Im getting the impression we might be being introduced to some of Ridleys "3 or 4 other players" he mentioned for Awakening; but i will refrain from speculating until I have finished reading it.
Hillard- To do with what?
I really enjoyed watching convenant the Dvd certainly filled alot of gaps watching it countless times i love the build up when they landed the way the soundtrack picks up as the slaughter begins. I do hope walter returns i cannot believe he is dead.
dk - 'it appears to be a figure with long hair'
We've found David. We see a moment from the pre-AC era... :)
--- Of course not. :)
Lone - My pleasure. I'm his fan as well.
Spams make us revisit old posts, no doubt. Hmm, it looks awesome:

Ingeniero - 'The last image reminds me of The Thing (2011).'
Totally true. Plus we can see that black goo is leaving her body through the mouth. A nightmare! :D
'The one in the middle is definitely too much.'
You're right. That image belongs to the category 'too much' as well. We see too much love.
'You go into some tough neighborhoods and dark corners...'
You hit the target again. But I always reveal the source as well, so you can follow me. :)
Well, at least for me, it points to earth. They're like "When we go out there they'll find earth..." and they call themselves Earthsavers.
"...hordes of ravenous creatures just waiting ‘out there’ to encounter space-traversing humans so they can follow them back to Earth and ravage the planet."
I'm an out and proud sausage jockey, but yes of course she's hot - And there's SEVEN of her in What Happened to Monday :)
I love Alan Rickman as well Lilly (Svanya).
I bet Hans Gruber's pants emitted a loud smell at the end of Die Hard.
You're absolutely correct Tiwaz.
"Of course everyone would think "Xenomorphs" but if I'm not mistaken the book doesn't tell who or what exactly is causing the bloodshed. In theory it could also be an Engineer strike force or something/someone else entirely."
The most detailed description I can find of who is killing in the vision is "they".
Yes, I may be off big time (like I was with a projection of many Walters on the Covenant) and whoever is killing may be something or someone else entirely.
I don't remember the visions being "of Earth" but "Earth bound" based on expansion activity...I'll have to reread the section where the visions were shown to someone else in an effort to persuade them later in the book.
You go into some tough neighborhoods and dark corners to get us an update on the expanded universe Ati, thank you.
The last image reminds me of The Thing (2011).
The one in the middle is definitely too much. The first image tends toward a vampiric Engineer race save the facehugger in the lower right.
Yup, knew my favourite Graphic artists influence would be in Covenant too. Ridley is his biggest fan!
Thanks for the share Ati ;)
Call - Wren, they go nothing to do with this.
@DK Ha ha lol
@Sherris
Its a interesting take on a direction for sure, prior to the release of AC, when ADF had announced he was working on a Novelization for the Movie and a Prequel i think a lot of people assumed the Prequel would have covered the Period of time between the End of Prometheus and what Events led up to what became of Dr Shaw and ending with David maybe setting up the Signal that the Covenant eventually came across.
And this would have explained why the Movie did not have to cover this period, as the fans who wanted answers would maybe get it in the Prequel Novel...
But alas... the interesting thing is the Prequel Novel is regarding the Covenant Mission and not David/Dr Shaw etc, and it appears the Novel (which i have yet to get) will introduce some back ground around the Covenant Mission, its objective, the crew and also it will gives us some answers to what perhaps happened to the Weyland Company so that it became Merged with Yutani.
Certainly would cover some clues to the W-Y company, and whats more interesting is it appears the Novel will cover some conflict/conspiracy surrounded Parties who are not pleased with the Take Over and also Parties who want to Sabotage/Destroy the Covenant Mission
I would assume any Book in the future that covers what happened around the Crossing Prologue would most likely have the Prometheus: prefix... and maybe even be The Crossing in the Title.
I do hope that FOX allow ADF to write a book to cover these events.
Certainly see the Moebius influences
Thanks for the share, these are interesting
Interesting work... i think the first one is best by far, followed by the 2nd one
@joylitt and @dk, that movie is really good, I loved it. Alan Rickman is in it and he was incredible as usual.
