i have not purchased a copy of the origins novel. i have to wonder though, what is the reason for it being a prequel ?
(other than time constraints)
would it of been more exciting growing with the characters rather than knowing they will die? linear story
The dumbest topic in here.No offense, Ridleys alien movies are better than the others.
Well, if your friends would have not that merch on their own, maybe that shows franchise fatigue for Fox. As for BR2049, I will skip it on it's first weekend because of Covenant and it's story/writing. I'm sure it will be beautiful but I doubt that the story will be more than a slave revolt in the end (and of course Deckard dying).
Whatever. I enjoyed the movie. I bought a lot of merch and sent a couple copies to friends. If people want to crunch numbers that is fine and understandable. I await the next one after BR 2049.
Third weekend forecast for Alien: Covenant:
The movie is showing dwindling legs and is expected to drop to #7 with an estimated $480,000 for the weekend. (Over half of last weekend's take.) That would bring the movie's total to $6.4M. Hitting $10M now may be a bit too optimistic.
Actuals will be available next week.
It seems like obvious speculation to discuss who or what is walking toward the egg...
Without Ati or Ingeniero zoom technology, it appears to be a figure with long hair.
DK - Hahaha! Indeed! :)
Something Real Good one! Can you taste that sound?
DK - "Listen...you smell something?" ;)
IRaptus That is ok- got an interesting thread going on. It will go wherever it goes unless someone locks it.
hmmm alot on that list are from motion sickness (Blair Witch) or the effects of 3D (Avatar)
not really what are are after
my bad
Spearfish I know the smells you mean raising those animals as a kid. I have to say in my line of work- gangrene is the worst- it cuts through everything and although difficult to describe, it is a smell that once encountered it will not be forgotten.
Hmmm. Been a long time since I saw Reservoir Dogs- brutal movie. Blair Witch was creepy but not sickening. Freaks was pretty real because the actors were the real deal (one of us)- I have it and the movie is about an hour long. The others I have either not seen or wasn’t made to feel ill. None addressed the OP of smell though. Devil’s Rejects ranks pretty high imo.
Try working on a pig or chicken farm. The day the smell doesn't bother you is the day your brain has accepted the awfulness as normal. So we do conform after a time. Pig is the worst because they eat what we eat for the most part. Although birds stink also. Pheasants aren't pleasant (sounds like an 80's rap line).. but I can imagine those egg pods wreaking. That is a bacterial nightmare. That's why all of the team should have had FLIR, to detect heat signatures as possible danger. And Walter should have had that installed from the factory.
here we go.
Interestingly Prometheus made it in there but not the original chestburster scene from Alien......
hahaha Avatar is in there too O_0
ahhh, Touche my friend!!! XD
Looks so ancient. An ancient evil waiting for a host....
Ill just leave this here.....
Ati indeed. Im enjoying it so far, especially the focus around the Weyland and Yutani merger.
I'm thoroughly enjoying reading about Hideo Yutani and his company's struggle against the Chinese Combine Jotou who were the competitors for the Weyland asserts. Interesting stuff.
Hideo Yutani is a grand character, and after reading this Im almost certain he will have be in the next film
Smell is interesting especially considering how it is wired to the brain- also how it can trigger memories.
I will see if Netflix has Perfume.
dk The book is better but the movie is pretty good actually.
I imagine when you first set foot on an alien planet you would be assaulted by all sorts of olfactory impressions. For instance the first time I've been inside of an underground cave I sensed that strange smell unlike anything I had experienced before, I guess the rocks and the stagnant air.
joylitt Interesting- is the movie any good?
Wren- You're gonna tell me who you're working for right now or you'll be screaming it come sunrise. (It should be for whom you are working but that is the Grammar Gestapo in me).
There is a movie called "Perfume: Story of a Murderer", based on a very famous book by Patrick Suskind.
dk - "intimate" form of strangulation :)
I think your careful words can be used to describe all of the images. :D
Uh oh- I may have seen a nipple.
The first pic looks like an "intimate" form of strangulation.
At least Kentucky Fried Movie mentioned Feel Around.

IRaptus - 'After reading half of Alien Covenant: Origins her death is now such an unfitting end.'
It means that the Foster novel is well-written. :)
Reminds me a bit of a bubble gum add shirt that read "Just blow me". Also similar to a Mr Bubble shirt that said- "Makes getting clean almost as much fun as getting dirty!"
In a strange way, it reminds me a bit of Newt's doll from Aliens.

After reading half of Alien Covenant: Origins her death is now such an unfitting end.
Its almost sad to read the novel knowing how brushed aside some of the Covenant security team become :(
dk - You are agreed, and I think an egg ship would be interesting. :)
Maybe, but I would be down with it as a movie poster.
dk - I think there are more fans who wouldn't like to see an egg-like alien ship in the Alien Universe.
That would make an outstanding poster for the final movie before Alien.
Glad you like it, Dave.
