Michael Bishop was certainly saved by Ripley's perfect reverse dive.

Weyland-Yutani Corp would have fed him to the xenomorph hoard to get around paying his bonus should he have been successful on Fury 161.

This is how the Company handles most everyone in the 2100s in the novels.

Great angle BigDave regarding the "egg".

"mixing the Cosmic Egg/Turtle Idea, with HR Giger Twist could be a way to get the Origins of the Universe to something VERY Alien and HR Giger we could then Propose a Horrific Agenda for all of this.... one which could see a Hierarchy of Creations where at least we would see some Alien Beings  a use of the Starbeast Civilization idea working for a Higher Power"

Biomechanical Factories

This concept described above certainly fits in regards to the mural seen in Prometheus (below) and the turtle-shell-shaped "pyramids" seen on LV-223. I know that you wrote that the biomechanical ships might be miles across but I'm just citing the function of the LV-223 structures seen in the comics and early Giger artwork.

BigDaveAlien: Covenant Forumwhat happens if the queen is killed

I think the whole Praetorian idea explored in Comics/Games is something a certain portion of the Fanbase would be up for.... while the Egg Morph = Queen is something the Alien fans who disprove of the Camerons Aliens or the Comics would prefer.

I can kind of understand Camerons Explanation that the Big Chap would evolve to the Warriors, and that the Protective Dome/Glass would eventually disappear but we have to ask what was its Purpose?

If it was to Protect the Xenomorphs Brain/Mechanics behind its Head, as its Developing then i guess this would make Sense... Much like a Baby Human do not have Thick Formed Bone at the Top of their Skulls but this Hardens as the Infant grows and develops.

Because in affect Camerons Aliens where intended to have the Protective Visor/Dome Glass but they was to Fragile and kept breaking or coming away and so he did without them.

Only the Head Underneath is different to that under the Big Chap... mainly as far as the detail of the Human Skull Beneath.

But this is not too clear under the Actual Big Chap Glass/Visor

And more so in Full Color Glory

And so Ignoring any Shot of the Big Chap without that Glass/Dome you can not really imagine how detailed it would be like underneath.

Therefor Camerons take on the Evolution is something that kind of can be accepted, its certainly only a bit odd IF we compared Camerons Xenomorph vs the Big Chap minus the Visor etc.

And so from Camerons Xenomorphs the Evolution to a Praetorian is something that indeed could make some sense...  But the difference from a Praetorian  to  a Queen is much more different, but who knows what Process could happen to Evolve to this and so it CANT be ruled out as Plausible for the Movie Franchise.

I just think the Egg Morph is a disturbing Scene, and its just how does this FIT with the Xenomorph... i have spoken to some Aliens Fans who Refuse to even contemplate it or any ideas that Remove the Queen and so are BUGGED OUT (Pun intended) by what Alien Covenant had shown.

"I had heard some rumors about where it might go a long time ago that were really interesting to me and my character"

This is one of the things we had to ponder as what was next for Daniels, the way AC ended with that Reveal does-not bold well for her.

*David could not risk her being alive in case she Tells/Warns everyone what David has done and intends to do... for him he Logically has to get rid of her... Unless he intends to only wake a Colonist a Time and Experiment on them ONE-BY-ONE but this would be so much of a David movie and no Characters... unless a incident happens where a Number of Colonist are awoken in ONE Go... then David would have to do a lot of covering up and if Daniels is Alive and gets to the other Colonist thats not gonna make Davids job easy.

*If David Kills her, but then awakens Tennessee pretending to be Walter then surely Tennessee would wonder what happened to Daniels and what is David going to say?  So Tennessee would likely get suspicious and then he would suss David out or David would have to get rid of Tennessee.

The Advent Viral Suggests David now has to Perfect his Queen, and so we know David is a bit Crazy and Megalomaniac and no doubt arrogant that maybe he would love to keep Daniels Alive but incapacitated a bit so she can Witness EVERYTHING David is doing and is planning, this would FIT with how Twisted David has become.

But then for something to happen, where Daniels Escapes him and then manages to Activate/Open most of the Cryo-Pods the Colonists are in would pose a Great Problem for David.

I think something like this has to be the Logical Way a Miss Waterston could play any real role in the Next Movie....   Why David could even Set-up his Colony on Origae-6 and things go happy and well for him, the Colonist Fed some BS by him....

But a Hubris for him is keeping Daniels Alive hidden someplace... that when she is Discovered.... it would OPEN the Colonists Eyes to what David has been doing and WHO he is.

My Alien: Ascension idea covers very similar to this... i was then pondering if Daniels Escapes...?  Or if she only is able to Warn some others after Davids Secret Underground/Underworld is Discovered.

A lot depended on HOW Daniels was being held by David, was she merely being kept in a Cryo-Pod with Tubes attached etc to extract her Eggs.... or was she more Hard-Wired into something that removing her and saving her would not be a option?

its relevant aslong as fox or now Disney don't come along and disprove it as alien started as an onscreen franchise so id say what happens in the films is what is infact canon but until proven otherwise, the comics and novels can be considered canon. I prefer the xeno molting and growing into a queen rather than the super face hugger idea. from a logical perspective it could put the queen in a potentially dangerous position if she is the first to be born with no drones or warriors to protect her.

What i meant DK was that the AVP Franchise had that Popcorn Franchise Potential.... but instead of going the Route that the Comics and Mainly the Games had taken....  The AVP Movies where brought in to be close to our Present time..  instead of being set Hundreds of years in the Future... with a Space Fairing Humanoid Race and the Colonial Marines etc.

I actually think a AVP Reboot set in the Time Period of say Alien and Alien Resurrection as a Alternative Universe and so NOT Canon to the Alien Movies would potentially be the least risky route for Disney to take.

Another Less Risky Route would be to explore some Alien Movie set between Alien Isolation and Aliens.

I think the Prequels have hit a Snag now.... its how do they Finish it and give us something they could make their money back on... Some still Want Answers Spoon Fed, others Do-Not want to be left with the Lingering Truth that David Created the Xenomorph.

A Literally Alien Franchise (Ripley) Sequel would be tricky for a number of reasons, be it continue a Alien 5 (sequel to Alien R) never mind Ret-con Alien 3 and Alien R

I think a AVP Reboot is more likely at the Moment.

I see what you mean as they DID survive Aliens but they died in Alien 3, but then by the same Token... everyone who survived Alien Covenant would be dead by the time of Alien 3 too.

So the only Survivors of the Franchise by its END are Ripley 8 and Call, plus a few others..  This is if we are only talking about those who survived a encounter related to the Xenomorph or Engineers.

I was just thinking of how could the higher levels of Creation be Explored,  when Ridley Scott mentioned about how if the Engineers are the Forerunners to Mankind, then HOW/WHY are Worlds made that allow for this (being able to support life) to happen... where is the BIG GUY and he also mentioned about if the Big Bang is a Accident too.

So in Ridley Scotts mind he was thinking and pondering that its no Coincidence or Random Circumstance that Certain Worlds can support Life and so suggesting that there is some Power/Race that is making all this possible and even the Big Bang/Creation of Galaxies.

This was always interesting to ponder what Forces/Power is at play when we consider this higher aspect of Creation in regards to many different cultures and creation Mythos...    And when looking at the EGG in the Alien Poster and how we never see this Egg in any movie it got me thinking about the Cosmic Egg Theory in some Mythos.

I also could not ignore the Turtle Creation Mythos and some (Indian) have a World held up by Elephants standing on the back of a Turtle, and well if you kind of Mix a Turtles Head with a Elephant we can Vision something not far off the Space Jockey suits.

But indeed these levels are way way up the scale and far away from the events of ALIEN but in exploring some World/Race above the Engineers could bring us to a place where we could see Murals, and Tablets that Describe the Cosmic Egg and Turtle Ships...  And so we dont have to actually go and meet GOD or go that far back to the Birth of the Universe.

The Machine/Beings or what ever that is responsible could be LONG gone now or just so far away in the Universe they are out of reach.

My Prometheus 3 idea i was pondering to explore something that connected more to HR Gigers ideas.... where i would have had a Ship much larger than the Juggernaughts or even a World where there would be shown places where Sacrifices would be Captured and attached to a Bio-Mechanical Wall, where something is extracted from them and this travels along some Bio-Mechanical HR Giger Pipes and connects to Pregnant like Bellies with a Vaginal Opening where Eggs are then Produced.

Sorry but by your lists principle, Newt and Hicks should also be on this list, So did Ripley 2 times. Morse and Jonesy are dead by the time of Resurrection and So is anyone from either Avp by the time of the first Alien.

David created the Alien so I don't think he should be on this list as he never was in danger and Walter never made contact with the Big Chap and hopefully did not survive.

It would be an interesting twist if Cyborgs created us long ago- somewhat like The Matrix but in a different way. It would ultimately lead to no final answer and simply leave us to ponder the age old chicken/egg question. Basically, humans believe in a higher power that is actually themselves. Then again, it drifts far and away from the original Alien movie.

"all but at least Oram seemed to have some sort of story behind him with his faith and that."

Oram was in effect the Dr Shaw of this Story, to a degree, i felt too he had the most Pain in this Story...  Especially finding out to his Horror his Wife Karine was in grave Danger and then making it to the lander to find it Blow Up.

I think the story should have been pushed with more depth and longer scenes leading up to Orams Face Hugging..... Have Walter (David) leave the Cathedral with a Passed out Oram and so have the other deaths by Neomorphs.... and Lope being Perfectly Fine...

Then on the ship we see Oram is taken to the Med Bay and Put into Cryo-Sleep.....   To then after the Crew Relax.... have ORAM Chest bust and then we get a Longer Xenomorph on the Covenant Scene.

This would have allowed for more of a ALIEN Ordeal, a Longer Gestation...  But it would have also allowed the Viewers to Realize Walter is David much more Earlier.... (but come on who never knew that way prior ;)

The Problem with this ONE Chest Buster in the Movie... would have been it would have meant

a) we dont get the David and Chest Buster Scene we had, which was to show David as the Puppet Master to his Creation.

b) have this scene on the Covenant but then we would know Walter is David prior to the Last Scene.

Most of your other comments Thoughts_Dreams i agree with.

A Massive Problem is the Engineers and the route Alien Covenant had taken, now show us something that makes the WHOLE Space Jockey, Derelict and Egg Cargo Scenes... just seem NOT ALIEN.

Exploring the Engineers and revealing the Bio-Mechanical Technology and where this Came from and Introduce something more ALIEN and HR Giger was maybe needed....  but sadly with the way AC was handled its harder to go back to this... but it could still be introduced.

The Problem now is giving us something more ALIEN than the Engineers, something more HR Giger and introduce a New Race and a World very HR Giger...  But at this point  doing that and having GOOD Human Characters is going to be HARD.

They have to either introduce a Good Human Characters in the Next movie where a few Survive to then in a 3rd movie get introduced to this more Alien HR Giger Race/World Threat... or Carry over Daniels to Survive the next movie and with a few others get introduced to this THREAT.

@ignorantGuy Regarding the IMDB...

We have to remember Review Sites cover Fans plus General Casual Viewers too... those who review the Movies on that Site and Others we can not say all Reviews are from 100% Alien Fans as in Fans who spend lots of time dedicated to the Franchise, and Merchandise.

Regarding Michelle's comments i can see the points made by both of you i think what she was saying is the AVP-Galaxy Fanbase tends to have a higher % who are more into the Aliens and AVP aspects, where as on HERE we have a higher % who are into Prometheus/Alien

Thats not to say every fan on that site are Ripley/Queen Fanboys or that every fan on here are Ridley Scott/Space Jockey Fanboys...

And indeed these sites combined only account for a small proportion of Fans who would regular watch a Alien Franchise movie.

Reply
BigDaveAlien: Romulus 2 NewsHas Ridley Scott changed his negative opinion against the Alien?

Totally Agree...

When Promoting Alien Covenant... Ridley Scott said that removing the Xenomorph and the Clues to ALIEN in Prometheus was in hindsight a Mistake....   Yet after the Criticize to Alien Covenant, RS comes out and says about the he was ahead of the Curve with Prometheus (so actually the Direct Prequel and Xenomorph route was a mistake).

In Reality Prometheus was ahead of the Curve.... but this movie needed to also have had some Alieny Moments and more Clues to Alien... provide Fans a little more Alieny Movie with a little more Clues..

Then allow the Sequel to explore what Prometheus was trying, by doing so with a sequel, and so having the first movie have a few Alien Encounters and a bit more clues to ALIEN... so that the sequel could go and do its own thing.

Prometheus should have been 70% Paradise (Prometheus early draft) and 30% Alien Engineers..... but Hindsight is a Wonderful thing.

EVEN SO.... Rightly as you pointed out while Prometheus had a good plot... the Characters and some Scenes involving how these Characters Acted were Sadly Flawed...

Go back in time and give us 70% Paradise, with 30% Alien Engineers but then make sure the Characters are Good... and Scenes Well Written and make the Run-time a extra 30 Minutes and then Ridley Scotts 2012 Alien Prequel Prometheus could have been EPIC.

"So I'm not sure that the comparison with Ozymandias quite works."

In General its to fit with the Philosophy at play in Prometheus and so it can connect in a number of ways...  Ozymandias is the Egyptian pharaoh Ramesses II.

So its open to different interpretation but the theme at play is we can have GODS and KINGS and Great Monuments can be Erected to show their Legacy, so they may Remain Immortalized in these Monuments... but eventually a King Dies... eventually all that Remains are the Monuments to their Deeds and their Legacy but over time... these things will Fall and Decay...

On Earth we have Many Ancient Monuments and Statues, including many in Egypt.... if the World Suffered a Event where Mankind was WIPED OUT say 2000-3000 years ago.... then in 2000-3000 years from Now what would remain of those Ancient Sites and Monuments?

If Mankind had died out in antiquity, so before the Steel/Metal Revolution and so Architecture was at that stage of Ancient Rome, Greece and Egypt.... when MANKIND died out....  in 100'000 years would any other Race coming to Earth Recognize these Monuments?

Prometheus HINTS to us that the Engineers came to Earth and many of Ancient Mankinds Monuments devoted to Gods etc were in fact devoted to the Engineers.

We see the Engineer City in Alien Covenant, and its Statues too, and NOW After David Eradicated the Engineers... what would become of this place in Thousands, if not Hundreds of Thousands of years?

"Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away"

ONCE a Powerful King a Great Pharaoh Long Gone.... all that remains, is the Ruined Monuments Erected in his Name.

This applies to Legacy too as in Weyland... as he lives on as a Legacy in David... David is his Works.... and so the Xenomorph is Davids and when David is long gone....  people can Look on his Works (Xenomorph) and Despair.

There is potential, they just need the Right Story.... I am FREE if Ridley Scott wants someone to Share a Few Martinis and Brain-Storm some Ideas ;)

I dont think Reboots, or Ret-cons are needed.... i also DONT think we need a Blomkamp Alien 5.... but i would certainly think his ideas could be used in a connected movie... just Re-work his ideas to NOT contradict the Prequels and Franchise and NOT introduce Ripley, Newt and Hicks.

They could choose a Time-Line between Aliens and Alien Resurrection where Blomkamps ideas could be used that DO-NOT have Ripley but introduce other Characters....  or even use his ideas set Prior to ALIENS where Miss Weaver can come back with a bit of make up to make her appear a bit younger and different and PLAY a Older Amanda Ripley..

Where we get the reveal she Does-Not Die how Ripley was told, but she Sacrifices herself to Prevent the Company getting the Xenomorph and Engineer Technology leaving only LV-426 as once again the only place for them to acquire the Xenomorph.

EVEN... doing a Alien Resurrection Sequel and using Blomkamps ideas in that..... BUT NO  Alternative Alien 3 route please.

Oh Regarding REBOOTS.... i think one likely Reboot could be the AVP Series which if done right and set within the Time-Line of the Alien Franchise so say 2150-2250 could be a Popcorn Flick that Disney would like for its Merchandise and Toy Potential

Well ANOTHER Creation Mythos also came to mind...

The WORLD TURTLE which is in many Mythos too.....

So if we have these EGGS... maybe the First Egg created Galactic Turtles?  But dont think of just any TURTLE but what if inside we have HUGE Bio-Mechanical Ships that appear to look like Giant Space Turtles  and these Turtles can Produce Eggs that can be Programed to Perform various Creation Tasks.

These HR Giger Inspired somewhat Galactic Turtles appear to look like Skeletal Turtles but they are Giant Bio-Mechanical Living Ships and by Giant i am talking maybe DEATH STAR or smaller Sized, but certainly say MILES in size, and i mean HUNDREDS of Miles at the Very Least.  The Scope could be anything from say Hundreds of Miles to Thousands, and so Large Enough to even have some of them Carry like Large Continents on their Backs under a Protective Dome.

But its what goes on inside these Monstrous Bio-Mechanical Ships, that could be TRULY ALIEN i IMAGINE not only can they Produce Cosmic Eggs but that they also maybe have Chambers where Organisms are Sacrificed by being connected to Bio-Mechanical Walls and their DNA Extracted and this then is used to Produce Alien Eggs that Hatch Organisms that are Similar to Xenomorphs, well the Xenomorph traces its Ancestry to it maybe the Organism from the Prometheus Fresco? or something Similar and maybe THESE Organisms could be Advanced and Civilized to a Degree like the STARBEAST was intended.

Maybe the Sacrificial Process above where Organisms are Sacrificed for their  Genetic Make up to then be used by Giger-esque Pregnant Bellies with maybe Vaginal Openings where the Eggs are laid from?   Maybe this whole Sacrificial Process happens on Smaller Ships than the TURTLES but Large Ships None the Less... GROWN inside the TURTLE Ships?

When i look at the Door Ways in PROMETHEUS which is also the same above the MURAL i notice the Head/Face at the Top is somewhat similar to a Turtle Skull and so indeed these Turtle Bio-Mechanical Ships could have Heads like those above the Mural/Door Ways.

I would also be looking to connect the Mural, as in some parts of it at the Top we see what appear to be TWO kinds of Egg Shaped things.

So i think mixing the Cosmic Egg/Turtle Idea, with HR Giger Twist could be a way to get the Origins of the Universe to something VERY Alien and HR Giger we could then Propose a Horrific Agenda for all of this.... one which could see a Hierarchy of Creations where at least we would see some Alien Beings  a use of the Starbeast Civilization idea working for a Higher Power, and whom Created the Engineers for a Sacrificial Purpose.

Revealing the Engineers and Space Jockey Races both Stole their Technology from Further up the more Ancient Hierarchy.

I believe that the biomechanical concept with the engineers is a topic of the highest value, something that could regain the divided fans.
The engineers 'suit looks like a symbiont, a living organism capable of protecting the individual, an idea that lets me think is to imagine the engineers' cryo-capsule, produce this living fabric, I mean living because it comes out of the dark purple liquid shooting on Prometheus, protecting the bust of the individual keeping him alive.

the central concept is here: if David played with this bio matter, he can modify it and get something macabre according to Giger's imagination, in turn there may be other types of experimentation on this new formula.
A creature that has aroused not a little interest from the beginning is this mural that highlights the divine supremacy of an engineer on a biomechanical creature, as if it were his creation.
If these creatures still go back before the deacons and evolved in the form of slaves on the capital planet, then there could be a war on the two factions and not really a mass murder.

Thoughts_DreamsAlien: Romulus 2 NewsHas Ridley Scott changed his negative opinion against the Alien?

Unfortunately it goes a lot deeper than the Xeno. Yes they have not dealt with the it that well but it also that they have not had well done human characters and that they have centered the movies around David.

"… a movie he admits he and studio 20th Century Fox made in reaction to criticisms that Prometheus underperformed critically because it lacked the franchises true star; the Alien."

I maintain that they misunderstood the criticism of Prometheus. Look around at the www after criticism of Prometheus you will find many articles that complain about the characters but less that complain that there were not Xeno in it. My opinion is that the monsters were interesting in Prometheus but the characters were bad. The Hammerpede that went down Milburn’s mouth was nasty in that way since it showed the potential of the goo, another part that I enjoyed about the movie.

Another movie centered around David will not get my interest, just no. I would rather watch a movie about the Engineers if it is done right which I think that it can. They need to find the right writers.

The Podcast perfect organism for example said that Fox and Ridley misunderstood the criticism of Prometheus, that there was no Xeno. It lacked because of under-developed characters and things that were left out. To paraphrase Alien 3:

Until they have learned to make well developed human characters we are fucked

By the way I would totally watch a movie that features a time traveling toilet, it seems kind of Austin Power-ish. LOL!

Critters5:

I think that David was alright in Prometheus but they made him worse in AC although I kind of liked to see the differences in outlook from David and Walter. I am not interested in another android movie, forget that. Alien Covenant could have been interesting but the whole focus was wrong and the writing and execution of the humans was wrong. Yeah he is overdone, back to the drawing-board.

That's what I am saying, new threads.

Well done, I like it.

Mmm barbecue!  ;)

I Moon Girl:

As long as they have new and interesting monsters that are somehow connected to the Xenomorph it is alright. The Engineers could be interesting if they are made interesting but then things got to make sense and they got to have a connection to the Xeno and or the goo. Hopefully they can save it so David did his own version of the Xeno, having it created from a psycho droid is boring.

I would also like to see more Engineers but they got to be interesting and make sense. They should focus on the human characters first, everything else is secondary to me. Alien 3 is my favorite of the Alien movies, it is a fitting end to Ripley. They should not remove it from canon.

"Ridley Scott is keeping this franchise alive with fresh ideas."

He should stick to directing otherwise we will get crap like David being responsible for the Xeno.

"Its how can this be tackled... yet giving a movie that is LESS Xenomorph and more AI as RS puts it?" (Big Dave)

If more AI means more Androids that are talking about philosophy then no thanks. If it means things that are not born naturally like an experiment then the Xeno might be so and if so then OK but no more android movies within the franchise because that is what AC was and it got boring.

Reply
Thoughts_DreamsAlien: Covenant ForumRidley Scott talks about replacing the alien

That kind of depends if he talks about getting a new monster or he will replace it with androids. Getting new monsters can be alright, I liked the Neomorph and the Squid was OK. Maybe it could work without the Giger thing, I don't know. Replacing it will be difficult but I do not want another Bladerunner/AC where we will see androids as the enemy, screw that. His obsession with David tells me that there is a risk that it is the way that he might go and if so I am out of here unless they make better human characters. It depends on how you treat them, the Xeno was there for some seconds and then it got stuck in a crane, that was lame but if you get new monsters and use them sparingly and keep them in the dark it could work because then we can use our imagination but then we need characters to care for. Unfortunately they have failed with the characters this far (in general P and AC since we talk about the prequels).

Maybe they could try would be to make the Engineers scary as F, then they could replace the Xeno as the main threat. For that to work we need to know a bit why they are mad at humans but they should also not be totally obvious since there needs to be some mystery for it to work. The Xeno worked since we didn't know a lot about it so that should be how they write the Engineers also. Call it a silly idea if you want but I think that this could work if they write them really really well. Let's see how this will develop

The mural could be better used if there will be a next movie since they were just shown briefly in Prometheus. They could take that and develop it since I think that the basic idea is interesting. Unfortunately I can not support the idea that the ship made the eggs, it is an interesting idea to write about in a fairy-tale but it won't work in a movie at least not for me.

About effing things up, they already did enough damage the way it is with Alien Covenant. It is without a doubt one of the worst Alien movies this far.

Critters5: I would rather have that then both AC and Prometheus. The thing is that we need well done human characters and make them fit in somewhere in the story too.

IgnorantGuy: As far as David being overthrown by the Xeno yes it is kind of obvious, I am not interested in that. I do not care about the adventures of David because that is not why I watch alien movies. To me it has always been about well written human characters that get into situations that they are not well prepared for. F the androids and the themes if I can not care about the characters.

"So what you try to do is lean more heavily on the story and the characters." - original post

That sounds like a total irony since the characters are what both Prometheus and Alien Covenant lacked. He seems to contradict himself here, the question is if he understands that or if he is misquoted.

Unfortunately I did not feel that much for Shaw or Daniels but at least Daniels was not naive like that. Prometheus was alright in the way that it did try something new (Engineers) but the lame characters was its downfall Not the lack of the Xenomorph.

Yes I did not like how AC focused on David and Walter, that was a mistake and made the prequels worse. It seemed to me that Scott only cared about the androids which is something that I am totally opposed to.

"In AC he is just a mad scientist." - IRaptus

Yes they made him worse, I hope that they will repair that if we would get another movie. I am not sure if they have learned from that looking at the criticism of Alien Covenant.

Interesting environments and new monsters is not enough. We need human characters that we can support and feel something for. Unfortunately the prequels have failed with the character part this far in general and therefore they are far from satisfactory.

Big Dave: As far as Fox looking at the problems with Prometheus. One million persons said that one huge problem was bad characters. 10 000 claimed that there was no Xeno that was the problem. Fox listened to the 10 000. *sigh* The podcast Perfect Organism claimed this and from looking around at the www I tend to agree with them. To me it seems that Fox and Scott totally misunderstood the criticism against Prometheus.

"Prometheus just never had that ALIEN Haunted house Feel, it never had that ALIENS Action Feel and it certainly lacked Horror and Gore and Humans Dealing with Horrific Alien Creatures as good as the ALIEN Franchise had." - Big Dave

I would have been alright with that if they would have had better characters. They messed up the characters so that is why we were given the quality of Prometheus.

Nah, I would not care about a movie that is told from the Xeno's POV.

".... i think the Curve-ball is something that has not settled well with Fans." - Big Dave

Yeah, I just think that it is . . . boring.

"RS also knew you had be invested in the Characters... so SLOW Build up was used with Alien Covenant so that they dont rush into the Xenomorph/Alien Encounters and $&%& Hitting the Fan too soon...  Sadly the Build up did nothing to really bring home the Characters."  -  Big Dave

I would like to question that, maybe not as far as the time issue but that we need well-written characters. It does not mean anything if they spend a lot of time to introduce them if they are not well written.

"Because the Majority of the Plot was around David and his Agenda/Actions and his interactions/differences with Walter."-  Big Dave

Exactly, that is one of the reasons why Alien Covenant is one of the worst Alien movies this far. I am not interested in Alien being turned into robot movies because it removes a big part of the human element that is needed for these kind of movies to work. If we will get another movie like that in the Alien series then I will sure as hell boycott it.

The differences between Walter and David was interesting but they were almost the only characters that were fleshed out and they are androids so therefore AC turned into a turd mostly although there are things that I like about the movie. As a whole it is a disappointment I am sorry to say.

"if u go back to alien, nothing happens for over 45 mins but was any of it boring? hell no." - Ali81

The difference is that they managed to get well done characters in Alien, in AC they did not.

As far as introducing a new kind of monster like Big Dave says I am not opposed to that but it would reduce the threat of the Xeno. For this to happen they got to make the Engineers or those above them threatening as F. This could work but they got to seriously think about it and to work on it so it will be done well. I would totally support this if it is done well

To me the movie became worse once Oram was killed since I feel that he was the only human character that was thought out. When he died it was a wait until the movie was over since both Daniels and the hat man (Tennessee, I almost forgot his name) were not well written at all but at least Oram seemed to have some sort of story behind him with his faith and that.

". . . its the worst film in the franchise by a long way. . . " - Ali 81

I think that it is better than AVP at least. Sometimes I think that it is better than AR so it is not the worst if you ask me.

I am not very saddened by this, it would be nice to get another prequel movie but if that would mean another David movie then forget it. One side of me says that it is bad news but another side of me says that they (Fox and Scott) sort of deserve it since they messed it up by going the android route at the expense of human characters.
