I think Harpers Changes certainly could appear to be more closer to the earlier Logan Alien Paradise Lost Draft....
What about Paglen and Green? We dont know really..
RS appeared to be wanting to take us further away from Alien, and to actually follow a Arc of Dr Shaw and David, a Dynamic between them both, as they need each other.... and as RS said... Once Davids Head goes back on he can be Dangerous... but he is very Persuasive
He claimed that THEY (David/Shaw) would be going to the Planet of the Engineers, where they find these beings... who are NOT Gods, not in the traditional sense, and are not Benevolent... However... David is bringing HELL with him. (Black Goo). And what happens when that infects GOD or a MACHINE
Quite Ambiguous BUT interesting..
Does this mean they Meet these beings?
How do they find out they are not Benevolent?
When/Why does David unleash Hell? what is the result?
GOD/MACHINE... are these beings Bio-Mechanical? or does David infect a Synthetic or Evolve himself?
So many questions those RS statements raised.
Other things he raised, was that he DID-NOT want to meet God in the first movie... hence so those Prometheus Engineers are not GODS but maybe we will discover who is above them, their Hierarchy, and what kind is that... separate Race? or just Elders of their kind? RS comment was in reference to the edited Sacrificial Scene (Elders).
He then has mentioned over and over the Engineers are Fallen Angels... Engineers as in LV-223? Sacrificial Engineers? Elders? and Fallen as in Malevolent Race or a Race who has Rebelled against their Brethren or Creators?
Again interesting Questions..
Then it all went Quiet...... But then Ridley Scott mentioned Paradise Lost connection... then it went Quiet again...
Roll on after Summer 2015 and RS mentions Paradise Lost, he mentions stuff like the Fallen Angels, he mentions if the Engineers are the Forerunners to Mankind, then what made worlds habitable for the Engineers to Seed Life.... Where is the BIG GUY (GOD)
He then goes further by saying you have One Guy who is Handsome, goes to all the Parties gets all the Girls, and another Guy who is not as Handsome stays at home being boring...
And he mentions that in Paradise Lost it was the Fallen Angels who had all the Fun...
We can only Ponder on all of this, in relation to Alien Covenant and ponder what the above comments seemed to hint as far as what Prometheus 2 may have been.
I did have the Source from Febuary 2015, many months prior to RS mentioning about the Engineers Forerunners, where is the Big Guy... and the Source gave some vague details about a lot of elements to Paglen/Green Pandemonium Plot... a lot of this does add up to Alien Covenant especially earlier drafts and concepts not used.
Until we see any earlier 2013-2014 drafts by Paglen and Green then i can not confirm if any of the Source was correct at all.
The Picture they painted seemed very interesting and more in line with what RS was saying prior to the announcement of Alien Covenant, The Problem is until we see any Paglen Draft or Greens then there is no way to confirm any of it..
Despite describing a lot that we see in Alien Covenant especially as far as the unused concepts... (Dr Shaw) etc.
If we looked at HOW i saw the Black Goo after Prometheus, which months latter the leak of Jon Spaights Nano Scarabs... basically fitted exactly how i interpreted the Goo.
We can see the Goo... is actually a Biological Creation/Hybridization Evolutionary Accelerant...
Want a Werewolf? Sacrifice Wolf to Sacrificial Goo, Collect the resulting broken down material/matter and then infect a Human with this and we got Werewolves... Want a Thundercat? Sacrifice a Cat instead... Want a Lizardmen... then yep... use the Sacrificial Goo on a Lizard.
Want a Human, Lizard and Cat Hybrid? thats more Human? then Sacrifice a Lizard and use the resulting substance on a Human/Cat Hybrid... EDIT sorry this method would give in theory... a Organism thats 50% Lizard, 25% Cat and 25% Human... However who is to say the Goo only takes best traits so if the Lizard has less favorable Traits than a Human, then the Lizard DNA could be less than 50% and Human more than 25%... this really is a grey area.
This kind of tinkering is what David was doing.... take a Neomorph, use the Goo to break this down and infect a Human Trilobite ( Black Goo, or infected Sperm plus Human Egg Cell) and what we have then is a Hybrid Neomorph/Deacon DNA Organism.
David must have used the Goo to basically mix and match traits of many Organisms in the Quest to take the Traits he wants and pass them onto his Creation.
Forgot to get back to this Topic... so thanks for the Bump...
Indeed the Eggs appear to grow with roots from the ground... i made some comments on this in my old Egg/Cabbage Patch Topic.
The way i look at how things went down, and i should have replied to this after i posted the reply i did, but i had some problems i had to deal with so went away for a number of months.
so to continue....
The Engineers had been experimenting with the Black Goo and for some reason (Sacrificed related Xenomorph Organism) this Goo carried on Xenomorph Traits to the hosts it infects, depending on how contact with the Pathogen is made.
The other Temples maybe Produced a slightly different strain of Xeno-Virus if you would than that in Prometheus in the Deacon Temple Complex... or even if its all the same... The stuff still passes on traits related to the Xenomorph/Deacon.
A effect of the Bombardment (or Spilled Cargo after the Crash) by David leads to infection of various forms of wild-life.... one of these appears to be a infection of some kind of Fungi, that is Organic and not Plant Life... These Evolved to the Spores.
David had seen the results of the Spores, and he had began experimenting with the Spores/Neomorphs and other infected Life and even using the Black Goo to Create Hybrids and various experiments on Spores/Neomorphs and other Black Goo experiments, Cross Hybridizing them...
Using Engineer Females, likely to infect the Hybrid Forms with Female Engineer Fetus or Egg Cells.... But it was only ONCE he had used Dr Shaws Reproductive Organs (Egg Cells) did he manage to achieve the results that grew into those Eggs.
It appears his Creation is still a WORK IN PROGRESS
Silly ME ;)
Misread the Post..... oh well not in best frame of concentration at that time.... so forgive me..
Indeed i would say Prometheus more so than Alien Covenant had Epic Practical Sets... there are many of these on the internet if you google.... (or other search engine) Prometheus movie Sets, Prometheus Movie Green Screen.
A lot of the sets were Built... some things they had parts of the set as practical while the rest would be built around as CGI. Such as the Hanger.

nice image but I don't know what to make of it and if it has any connection to Alien. The title says the day we left earth, I have never seen it before, and where it came from, the title is original. and for the problem related to the powerpoint please go to the MS PowerPoint Customer Care and get your answers.
I also don't see there being a neo-queen. I just see the goo mutate some form of fungi which may have been something unforeseen when the mutagen was designed as it is neither flora nor fauna
Tiwaz I sort of wondered the same thing. The spores definitely are related to the face hugger since they invade the host and produce a creature.
yea that's theory I got. David takes Shaws eggs and using the goo, mutates them into the eggs we see containing the face hugger. he may have used engineer dna in the mix which would explain the size of the eggs? and I agree about this being disappointing as id much rather have it that David has nothing at all to do with the creation of the xeno
Seemingly Ridley imagined that David harvested Shaw's human eggs and using the black goo somehow was able to evolve them into the first Xenomorph eggs. Another disappointing aspect of Covenant.
just more aspects of the xeno that id love to see explored in future movies.
Indeed Gediman started it, but it becomes a case of who is controlling whom- vague and left to the viewer. I also agree the xeno could have been merely toying with him.
its an interesting thought and another ability of the xeno I think would be beneficial to the beast but in this instance I think it was more playing with him. Gediman was the one who instigated it. he moved to the glass first and showed his teeth first but im not saying u couldn't be right about a xenos ability to put sentient beings into a form of trance
I watched Prometheus for the first time last night since Covenant was released. Three things were lost in the transition rather than the two obvious ones :-
1) Shaws indomitable survivor role.
2) The Engineers as anything other than fodder.
3) David's wonderfully enigmatic relationship with Shaw. There was real narrative momentum in this rather than reduce him to a deux ex machina for the creation of the ALIEN. What makes David interesting is his relative place in the creation story which could have been played into the Engineers and their place in the creation mythos. IF life is born out of a mechanical construct then the reaction of Shaw and David would have been of profound interest from their relative positions as believer and robot and could have lead to all sorts of impact on how they react and ro each other..
Another case in point. The xeno seemed to be controlling Gediman in a scene. The trance was broken when the inner mouth struck the barrier.

telepathic communication I think is def something wed all agree on. but id say the way its shown in AR, theres no other reason for the 2 stronger xenos to attack the runt. its a very deliberate act to escape as they see an opportunity while the scientists r distracted and then they attack.
Agree- best left a mystery. It looked pretty much how we see and it felt tacked on. A3 did a better job with the fish eye view.
yea I never liked the way the xeno sees explained in either of the movies it was shown in. best left a mystery imo
ignorantGuy So the queens are some kind of Bene Gesserit
Hahaha nice one XD
Maybe the Queens protect the Melange Spice??
If you go by the Dark Horse comics and novels the Empress and Queen's Mother have exceptional telepathy. Like the Zerg Hivemind in Starcraft
The xeno did seem to have some kind of telepathic abilities in AR. This thread is a motivator to re watch this week!
I think genetic memory is a very clever defense mechanism and I think it would be cool if the Xeno's had it. I think it's the way to go.
hox I had forgotten about the telepathy part. It seems they put the pieces together that way and they may have known what the acidic blood would do as the below scene shows. There would not seem to be any other motivation to kill the runt. Hard to say.
As for genetic memory, Ripley demonstrated having it during Resurrection several times.

Easy one, that. David simply tweaked a couple of genes so that when a bunch of xenos feel trapped in a confined space, they let rip on the runt of the litter. They don't need to know the result of this action any more than a bee knows about the chemistry of its sting.
But... you never know. In the novelisation of AR, Alan Dean Foster suggests that the xenos can communicate telepathically. And in (ahem) AVP, the Queen is clearly directing the drones via an alien signalling mechanism to do a similar thing. After being around for a couple of thousand years, she's learned a thing or two. Unlike the xeno in AC, who has a go at some metalwork in a fit of anger.
It's nice to know I'm a clever clogs. Because I've always loved Alien Covenant!
Apart from the Xeno vision. We could have done without that.
It is nice to see AR get some credit. We discussed it in a few threads last year. Here is one if interested:

Good question. Maybe they attacked the weaker xeno and the resulting escape hole was a happy accident? Then again, it appeared that the two stronger xenos planned that escape. I honestly don't know but it is a great topic for debate.
Seven years. Seven. Years. Yes, that’s really how long it’s been since Skyrim catapulted itself into existence, so it’s about damn time we got Elder Scrolls 6. Usually its every 5 years we get a new release on this storyline from Bethesda games - I think Skyrim is Bethesda biggest seller of all time, I play it every winter.
My youngest boy received the game for Christmas the year it was released, he also went to Ft Benning Ga for basic training right after getting the game for Christmas.
I was in High School when the first Alien movie was released.
Be nice to see the Alien movies continue along with the Predator movies, waiting 7 plus years on the next installment of Skyrim Elder Scrolls 6 - we will have to wait and see unfortunately
I personnaly think that Alien Ressurection is better/more appealing than Alien Covenant. First, because i had much lower expectations for AR than for AC, second the characters of AR are significantly better than those of AC and third i find the crazziness of Jeunet much more entertaining than the visual mastery of Ridley Scott.
Some scenes in AR such as when Ripley find out the seven other clones, or when Ripley coldly tell to the guy what he has and how he will die or the way the chest bursting of the same guy was filmed are priceless.
I don't see any really priceless scene or character in AC.
Alien Covenant had a lot of potential which was incredibly wasted. It is insane all the things they could have done with the engineers from describing a world imprinted by their civilization and technology, to flash backs giving us an overview of both their culture and technology. Many items of Giger art could have been used for this purpose.
Now regarding the Xenomorph it is much better as either a creation of the Engineers or an ancient species way more sinister than what we could imagine.
The xenomorph is often described as a perfect organism supposedly able to rampage whole worlds.
Yet, we have yet to see anything in any movie up to now which can justify such a reputation !
Alien Covenant could have featured a flash back scene showing how powerful a fully developped/mature xenomorph can be. Because we have just see young xenomorphs up to now.
Are you suggesting that Shaw committed suicide to allow Covenant crew to enter planet 4?

The mandarin ducklings jump from their nest in the tree when the time comes.
I think the xenomorph should be at least that clever!
and what about lord of the rings? surely its in the alien universe aswell?
'my dear Frodo, you have my sympathies'
And the nurse from LL is an ancestor of Daniels'.
@ali81
So the queens are some kind of Bene Gesserit? But, in all honesty I have nothing to add to the topic but hopefully someone will.
next someone will say se7en is in the same universe
By the same argument even Logan Lucky is in the same universe.
Dismay should hurry up, Ridley Scott is ready and eager to film the sequel to Alien Covenant.
yea, my patience wears thin esp when I see posts suggesting kingsman is in the same universe as alien as there is the same song in kingsman as there is in an alien movie.hurry the F*** up RS or move over lol
