"I presume the David series is still mostly male"

It appears that the Covenant crew was kept in the dark in regards to the details of the development of the synthetic that was to join them on the colonization mission to Origae-6. And that there were David models of both sexes in appearance.
The captain of the Covenant mission is complaining to Weyland-Yutani reps on the ship during departure preparations in Earth orbit about the delay in the delivery of their synthetic.
Jacob didn't refer to their synthetic as "Walter".
"Jacob gave a casual wave. 'So we've been told. Repeatedly. He--I presume the David series is still mostly male--should have been on board and interacting with the rest of us several weeks ago."
Alien: Covenant Origins novel, page 20.
In the novel, the scientist that is left to sign off on Walter for the Covenant mission insinuates that David may have been responsible for the failure of the Prometheus mission.
"As the first of its kind, there were always 'issues' with David.", page 143.

MemberPraetorianMar-09-2018 2:57 PMIn regards to "first of its kind", that may reconcile with the David 7 model announcement in the timeline, above, and the meeting shown in the beginning of Alien: Covenant, below.
The meeting above could be the 1st David 8 produced (and last) personally for Peter Weyland while deploying David 7s to the general market.

MemberTrilobiteMar-09-2018 3:03 PMInteresting points. I like the ambiguity.
True story time and is somewhat humorous- I could imagine David responding the same way. A gay friend of mine was verbally sparring with a homophobe. It all ended when my friend said, "Honey, I can be more woman than you can handle and more man than you could ever hope to be." He then did that weird Hanibal Lector noise. LMAO! I could imagine David being that way.

MemberPraetorianMar-09-2018 3:21 PMI believe David would say anything to get his way dk. And take part in any joke, threat, or whatever was thrown at him.
He can cry pretty good and the tears might as well be made of glue.

Hm, remarkable piece of information, thank you Ingeniero.
I believe it is very probable that the direct prequel to Alien will introduce a female android.
I would be happy to see Olga Kurylenko in the movie. She would be perfect as the new android 'Davidova 7'.

MemberDeaconMar-11-2018 4:26 PMSorry ATI but as a David myself... the Female Equivalent has been reserved as Davina... as yes thats when i fancy letting my Feminine side out LOL ;)
But on a serious note, if the Weyland Company was real and its Synthetics i would certainly assume the Female Versions would outsell the Male Counter-parts.
The information from the Origins Novel is interesting as it indeed suggests that as of the Time-Line around the Covenants Launch that Female Synthetics are also available and Jacob is either Misinformed, or does not have much knowledge or interest in the Synthetics...
Or otherwise it would imply the Walter Model is a NEW model that has not been released for very long prior to the Covenant Mission. We could even speculate from this information that the Covenant Ship is one of the first to Employ a Walter Model.
Regarding the Weyland Virals for Prometheus and the Prologue for Alien Covenant, i dont think we can read into the Prometheus back ground information much anymore. Hence why the site was taken down.
AC and the Novels seem to imply David in the movies is the FIRST of his kind, now the Prometheus Virals had the First David as being unveiled in the year 2025 some 69 years prior to Prometheus.
The AC Prologue Guy Pearce was 49 years old... I think looking at Weyland in AC we can assume he has to be between 45-50 years old in this scene. If they are keeping to the Peter Weyland Born in 1990 this means this Scene takes place in the year 2035-2040.
When looking at descriptions of the David Models, the level David was at in this Prologue would hint at it being the David 3 or David 4 Models...
But we have to consider that Alien Covenant has Re-wrote the Weyland Timeline as far as Prometheus, and if this is the FIRST David then its safe to assume that David was first created around the year 2035-40 and NOT 2025.
It really comes down to those working on the Projects not having any consideration for previous LORE or HISTORY and so we get a make it up/change it as we go along..
My Interpretation of this Prologue Scene prior to seeing Alien Covenant and even after... (prior to the Origins Novel) was that David Proto-types would have their Memories/Soul uploaded to the next Model.
But looking at the Prologue it appears this shows the FIRST David because he Names himself after the Statue of David. Looking at how Old Peter Weyland looked he would pass for at least 40 years old, and NO older than 55. So this kind of causes conflicts.
A lot now depends if Peter Weyland was still born in 1990 or now its been changed to much latter.

To me, the novel tends towards the Walter on the Covenant is the 1st Walter. All the departments were needed to sign off "commissioning" Walter as if last checks to a new "type" of equipment. And I believe you are correct as to the reason why the Weyland Industries site went from something to nothing.
I must now go "cherry pick" the parts of the timeline from the site that fits my narrative and cast aside inconvenient details. Sounds familiar. Oh no.

MemberPraetorianMar-15-2018 7:21 AMYes Ati, I have to admit that Olga Kurylenko is a peach but I can only imagine how beautiful Davina would be.
Be nice or Davina will wipe out your planet with pink (or teal, my daughters' preference) goo mutagen.

MemberPraetorianMar-16-2018 4:45 PMOh, BigDave, I didn't know you have a feminine side. Naughty boy, reveal more!
According to the article,
'...there were David models of both sexes in appearance.'
That's why I was brave enough to suppose that a female android would look female.
Davina's eyes in the photo look like David's eyes. I don't see the difference... LOL
What do you think about Alain Delon's daughter? She would be the perfect French androida, wouldn't she?

fantastic Ingeniero
I have not read covenant origins yet this helps a lot and makes it all more interesting.
about the tailor-made female android as David approaches very much according to my taste at Vickers.
every time I look at Prometheus and see Vickers and David arguing it would be like two brothers looking for the same thing.
funny comments : D

I have to agree that she would be perfect androida Ati. She has very sharp features and perfect symmetry. And they seem to make most of the robots very attractive so I think she would do ok there in casting too. I'm sorry...my Davina was a screen shot edited from something I had already built yet to launch. Yes, I could have done better with a little eye makeup.
A few believe Vickers was an android V I N E T I C U M. Yes, make many androids that look like her. Very many.

That seems reasonable BigDave. I believe Ridley Scott feels that way too (timeline defined by him) and the Peter Weyland in Alien: Covenant looked around 17 years older than he was in his TED speech.
