The Transferred Soul was something i was touching up on with a Plot for my Prometheus 2 project which i canned late 2013/Early 2014. I felt the whole Agenda for creating David, the Dream Visor/Capture Technology and Synapses Re-stabilizer where all parts of Weylands Plans to Cheat Death... by first creating the Perfect Host Body (Synthetic) and then finding a way to Upload his Soul into a AI that in effect makes Weyland IMMORTAL
It is what i was drawn to conclude, in 2013.... and its what became OPERATION ROOK in my Sequel Story i began but never finished. It would have been a little bit... Transcendence however lol
When looking latter at the Weyland Viral Marketing for Alien Covenant, and the David Prologue Scene, these seemed to add up to how i interpreted the different David models in the older Prometheus Weyland Viral Site...
Each Prototype David would have his Soul transferred to the next Prototype, this gave David like 69 years of Memories by the time of Prometheus.
Nice Catch, and yes you could look at it like that V I N E T I C U M
Certainly would have been interesting to see those themes of Paradise Lost Explored.... The Source i had claimed the Garden of Eden is loosely connected including the Tree (Obelisk)
I certainly have a Forbidden Tree/Fruit in my Alien Covenant sequel plans... i just dont quite know how to have it play out, as i have 3-4 ideas.... two really good, but its could i Plug this Thing more than once/twice in a story and get away with it? Certainly the Belly-Burster will stay ;)
I would not rule out a REBOOT or Soft Reboot under Disney..
As far as Alien goes the Franchise, i feel Disney will only want to make Alien movies if its mainly about the Xenomorph... This does not mean we wont see a Finish to the Prequels, i just think Disney would rather them be more Alien-y than maybe RS would want.
We have many routes to explore.
*Finish the Prequels with 1-2 movies to lead to ALIEN
*Make a Direct Sequel to Alien Resurrection (with or without Ripley).
Other options could be some kind of Ret-con of some of the movies in the Franchise AKA Blomkamps Alternative ALIENS sequel.
But the Universe could be expanded to cover other elements that Do-Not Directly Tie in the Prequels, or Ripleys Story.... And Certainly exploring the route of Alien Isolation AKA Amanda Ripleys Story could be something that could be considered.
My Personal Opinion?
Disney will likely push for in this order of preference.
1) A Direct Alien Prequel set after Alien Covenant.
2) A Direct Alien Prequel/or Parallel to Alien movie that provides us clues that Alien Covenant Does-Not link to Alien.
3) A Alien vs Predator Reboot
4) Blomkamps Alien 5
5) If nothing happens for 10 years... maybe a Prequel Reboot or a Parallel Prequel Series that could link in Prometheus/Alien Covenant loosely but only as far as to give us a alternative Xenomorph Origin and Space Jockey Race.
I think that does not mean we WONT see a Alien movie, i am not 100% sure we will see anything within the next few years... I think a lot depends on how The Predator does, both Critically and Domestically $$$$
I still think the Alien and Predator Franchises give Disney something different than they currently have, especially if they cater the Franchises for a R/15 Audience. I am concerned any move from Disney could come in the form of a PG-13 or even 12A type Cross-Over AKA a AVP Reboot...
We cant give up just yet, it appears Sir Ridley Scott will be working with Disney on the Merlin Saga, this would allow him to show what credentials he can bring to a Disney movie, if RS makes good on this movie and he pleases Disney its a chance to PLUG a potential return to the ALIEN Franchise.
If the Merlin Movie Bombs... and Disney Feel for the Time/Budget that RS has not done well enough with either, then this could really but a ALIEN movie on the Back Burner.
I think the Defining Moment will be April 26th 2019 at the 40th Anniversary Alien Day if by then we have NO News or positive potential information from Ridley Scott on the Project, then i think it could be a Long Long Wait before we see a Alien Movie.
IF at this moment Disney do have some idea/plans but are not in a direct rush, but those working at Disney DO have plans for another Alien movie, i feel it would be idea for them to AT VERY LEAST Market and Build Up HYPE by or on April 26th 2019
I certainly dont think the ideas DEAD as far as Ridley Scott, but even if Merlin is a Hit, if Disney then Pile up a lot of movies they want RS to make that are not ALIEN and its good business for RS, then i can see him making more movies for Disney... i cant see him saying "look i make one more movie for you, then i want to do my Alien"
Here she is!
She currently lives atop my Acoustic guitar amp, jams along with me :p
Batchpool far out, that guitar with 4 sets of humbuckers. Madness!
Just read Disney's projected films through 2020 and there was NO MENTION OF ALIEN.
Think there is any chance of an Alien Isolation movie? It really seems like the best way to reboot the franchise in a new direction...
I think that it is safe to say that guitar players come in all shapes and sizes, also I reckon the type of guitar they play does reflect on their personalities a bit. I wonder what type of guitar David and Walter would play? So is the pick guard the sign of a psychopath or not?
@ dk
Here's a nice practical guitar. It even helps with the fingering. :)

Pick guards look pretty good on Explorers and SGs.

or you could just make the whole body a pick guard:

That little face hugger left some poops in my chili- added some nice heat. Burned on both entry and exit.
That whole story is interesting. The whole Adam and Eve thing is a biblical story for the faithful but I took it in a different way. Not to insult anyone, but I saw the snake as one who was offering knowledge while God appeared to be the one setting Adam and Eve up for failure by placing them in an almost impossible situation. Loyalty- not enlightenment- seemed more important. I saw the snake as the good guy even though it meant God's wrath. At least the snake was honest.
David was a little different though. When charisma failed, he would use treachery. If he has an axe to grind, it seems to be with his creator- who was killed, so the point seems moot.
What is the forbidden fruit here- the black goo, knowledge/wisdom?
Nice topic. I try to stay away from subjects like this, but there it is.
fantastic dk
It is really absurd when a desire so close comes that turns into hope in these times not entirely rosy.
you wrote every word of my most sincere thought to this franchise
"Au Revoir Shoshanna"
all very cool .
BigDave my favorite Xenomorph about alien the cloning apart from the design but then the need to get rid of sacrificing one of them to go outside : D
"Au Revoir Shoshanna"
To deepen the theme, I looked for clues about the lost paradise of John Milton, of which we know the road traveled by Ridley on the construction of AC, the important element for us in this theme is the domestic vicissitudes of Adam and Eve to the tree of Eden , the photos found are tremendously similar to the screenshot in question.
Good vision

"Au Revoir Shoshanna"
I do really like the philosophical themes with David dying. Biblical lines are another great idea in the story you shared on here. It definitely can turn an Alien movie into something more; into something that will keep the audience thinking about even after they watched the movie some months ago. I really do respect movies that get people to think as well.
I always imagined if an android transferred their "soul" to another android, their consciousness would also transfer. I figured their soul would exist in their programming and if they transferred their programming, their soul would also transfer.
I guess with a human, I image the soul as existing in our brain. So, if a human could somehow transfer their brain to another body successfully, their soul would also transfer too.
There is actually talk of the Chinese attempting to do a head transplant. The reason the Chinese would do it is because most countries in the world do not see a head transplant as an ethically right decision. PLUS! This is actually the main issue I think.
Doctors compare this surgery the Chinese are planning on doing as something along the lines of "super gluing a head on another body". Technically, the head transplant can work with today's science; yet, it isn't the most reliable science to do something like that to a human, morally that is.
I think the Chinese actually have successfully done head transplants on mice. I haven't read anything about them researching if behavior traits transfer as well.
Dark Nebula Been a long time since playing RE 2, but yes, the lickers and Tyrant definitely remind me of the Protomorph and a mean Engineer.
Critters5 and BigDave Yes, it has been brought up before and is worth mentioning again how Isolation would be a no brainer as a movie. Creative Assembly knocked it over the fence and out of the park.
The Engineer height was reduced to a more manageable height, because it would be too complicated to have a 15-foot tall albino walking around.
In star trek, for example, there are a lot of humanoid species same size as humans but are much stronger (Romulans for example).
The planet 4 Engineers are probably 6-8 feet tall and I'm guessing are stronger than humans (not as strong as LV-223 ones). But the LV-223 Engineers are a completely different story.
From the film and the comics, it's not only their great strength but also the barehanded combat and the focuses on the knowledge of weak body spots.
In Prometheus the last engineer killed Ford by delivering a fatal blow to her chest, crushing her sternum and sending her flying backward, she died instantly.
He also threw Jackson against the wall that he broke his spine in two instantly.
In comics, the engineer killed a bunch of xenomorphs with his bare hands, (by the looks of their bodies) either by snapping their necks or backs because there were no holes in their bodies (we know what happens when xenomorph is wounded). In the battle between the engineer and predator, not only was the engineer too strong, during the fight, he was also targeting predator's joints, and thus weakening and enabling the predator to fight.
The same thing in Blade runner 2049, not only are replicants much stronger than humans, their fighting style is fast, precise and also focuses on the knowledge of weak body spots.
My jaw dropped in the cinema when some scavenger attacked officer K, and K just grabbed him, lifted him up and broke his back like Bane did to Batman.
IRaptus Thanks for the embed. So we have Xenos, Face huggers and the drinking bird. Seems something is still missing....
I played it on PS3. It was gorgeous and there were no frame rate issues- ran smooth for me the whole way through. Load times were kind of long though.
@Critters5
I think a sequel to Alien Isolation as a Movie could work, and even introduce Ripley back into the Franchise...

Amanda Ripley in ALIENS looks a lot like Miss Weaver...
The events of Isolation take place about 20 years prior to the establishing of Hadleys Hope, and so it means we could explore a story where Amanda finds out about the Company attempting to set up a Colony on Hadleys Hope and have her attempt to put a stop to this happening.
It could then reveal some Conspiracy behind the whole Outpost, and even lead us to find out that the company at a latter Date Covered Up what they KNEW and KNOW about Hadleys Hope and indeed WHAT REALLY happened to Amanda Ripley... some 20-40 years after the events of the Sevastopol Station Incident
It certainly allows for something interesting, and does not even have to be about LV-426 it could be about LV-223 depending what happens to LV-223 prior to the Events of Alien Isolation and it would be ONE of the more IDEAL ways to introduce Sigorney Weaver without needing much make up.... just a bit to make her look a little different.
I think the way things have set up as far as the movies go, shows us the Engineers are FAR from Super Human... they have been reduced from Concept (15ft Alien Humanoids) to a 6-7.5ft tall Humanoid Race, that comprise of Males, Females and Children.
I think we can assume these beings are stronger than a Human, but certainly by no means FAR more Stronger, i think a Planet 4 Engineer vs Predator in Hand-to-Hand Combat with no Weapons or Weapons would be a even battle.
I think what Alien Covenant introduces us to is these Engineers could be very very Ancient and have Evolved themselves Technologically and Genetically to the point of the FAR Stronger LV-223 Variety..... which may have came at a Great Hubris.
And so the Engineers maybe turned they backs on the ways of their past... knowing that with greater Technological Power and Knowledge came a Great Responsibility that they just was not ready for.
@Ingeniero
Nice comparison ;)
@Thoughts_Dreams
You certainly are very correct that for many a movie works if we can connect with the Characters, and indeed since after Alien 3 sadly most Characters are merely Plot Devices, or used to bring about the Plot Devices.
I think a lot of fans associated the Franchise with Ripley and while letting go of this for some is not bad, the Main thing the Franchise was about is the XENOMORPH which is something over exploited and something that has to be handled with Care in Future....
This is where the Prequels came in, to try and give us something else, which was to cover the Space Jockey and Tease at how those Eggs came to be...
Sadly for many the path of Prometheus was not interesting, a lot of fans could not separate it from Alien, and would always expect any Prequel to have to introduce and explain the Xenomorph and so thats what we got..
And so as we have DAVID who seems to be the Main Focus on the Franchise now as far as Prequels, as a antagonist he out-shines the protagonists that had been introduced, and people just could not connect with Dr Shaw, and then she was Written Off, people had a hard time connecting with Daniels and the Ending of AC does not look to good for her being the main protagonist in the next movie.
so its a case of starting from scratch again... how do they do this and introduce Characters we can connect with?
I see your points about DAVID... because i feel a lot of people cant accept he is more than just a Robot... and that means people cant connect with a Character if they dont see any Human Qualities to him, let alone as he has been portrayed as the BAD GUY so its hard to get the viewers to feel anything for a Artificial Creation... i guess some people would feel BAD for JHONNY 5 from Short Circuit if he came to a SAD ENDING but that kind of Kiddy movie would not have the same effect as if ET was to die etc.
so that Example above shows how caring for a Robot is harder than a actual living Organism, especially when the said Robot is the Villain.... This applies more so when they take up the most of the Story.......
i think the other problem is that ALIEN was so unique so ALIEN that when we saw the Derelict, the Space Jockey and then those Eggs..... way back then way back in the 70's, 80's or even way prior to the Prequels when someone watched ALIEN for the first time, the thoughts around THIS SHIP, THAT CARGO and THE PILOT for most of us would have been something so unimaginably NOT Human.... that Giant (not so) Bald Humanoids (especially in AC) as the Space Jockey and then a Human Creation a Android... actually creating the Xenomorph is just SOOOO NOT ALIEN enough.
Can you imagine if someone from the Future Traveled back to the Time when Aliens or Alien 3 came out or abouts and then CLAIMED they knew what the Space Jockey was and how those Eggs came to be... and said..
"oh yeah those Eggs are created basically by a earlier version of Bishop"
WHAT? HOW? WHEN? WHY?
"oh because the some 7ft Tall Uncle Fester Looking dudes created some Biological Substance to use on Mankind, and the Android uses this to create the Xenomorph"
HANG ON..... WHAT AND WHY
"well because these Uncle Festers Created Mankind, and we had turned out to be a disappointment so they created something to destroy us but lost control of it, and the Human created Android just uses this stuff to create Xenomorphs, because he too hates his creators"
This in a Nutshell is what we have, and while its not so bad, for the a majority of fans i think we can ASSUME its not how many would have liked those answers. its just not as ALIEN as the Derelict Scenes and HR Gigers Twisted Artwork.
1) I think the Classic Xenomorph Design is the best so far, i think there were limitations to how it came across due to Special Effects at the time, but the Design is certainly the best. I even think the Atheistic Changes that we see to the lower limbs (Alien Covenant) fit very well and make it less Man in a Suit.
2) I would say any of these Ultramorph's would be my pick.

3) This is a hard one that i may have to get back too... but going back over the years i found this Deacon by DominicQwe interesting and its so fitting that this actually is not far off from the Neomorph we ended up with.

4) and 5)
I will have to do some thinking and get back to you ;)
Only played it the once, no a PS4 i do not own such a console, i was tempted to get the PS3 version but i would have to dig out my PS3.
Certainly seemed a good game though ;)
I think indeed there was a lot to the David/Walter Scenes and indeed in the whole Viral Marketing and lets not forget choice of Song for the Teaser Trailer for Alien Covenant.
That for some were things they could not read into or quite understand the implied connections/plot.
Here’s a quick snap of two friends of mine as nature intended, with no pick guards or scratch plates obscuring their natural beauty. I would not say that I am totally anti-pick guards as I think that they are synonymous with guitars from a certain era, and there are certainly guitars that it enhances there overall iconic look. Certainly, guitars such as Explorers look good for it, especially an ES335 because of the time when they were designed. I think with the Ibanez guitars with the HR Giger designs, having a pick guard would just obliterate the art work. If I were to choose from the two Giger designs, I would prefer the one with the locking trem as a playing/working guitar, but if it was a matter of art then I would have to go with the other one. As well as pick guards, I think some of the old trem systems that are found on guitars like Guild and Gretsch look good on those type of guitars because the guitars of that era did not have the artwork you can now get on todays’ guitars. Just like pick guards, having a ton of iron mongery hanging from a guitar is’nt always a great idea.

On second thought, pick guards on Explorers and SGs seem ok for some reason.
A special topic
A special topic Dark Nebula.
Interesting to deal with the theme of engineers and their culture, I am fascinated by their bare-handed combat without any kind of weapons.
"Au Revoir Shoshanna"
I could see a future director making an Alien Isolation movie its plot would lend itself so well to the franchise without the need of returning actors.
hahah they do look like a bib on a Tele now that you mention it. I cannot un-see that either...oh well lucky I gave up on trying to like Fenders, they don't do it for me....
Here is my one and only with a pickguard!
just ignore the expensive PRS lying on its headstock next to mine....cringe.
Lead guitarists for you :p
dk attached below in your video (embedded). I have also added it into the OP
Somehow it seems there should be some sort of dancing here...
Pick guards serve no purpose on any guitar. They take up more real estate on a strat or any guitar. It looks like a damn bib! Fugly! You pick strings- not the friggin' body! Exhibits A and B:

dk nice one! Great job with the food and beer!
And the little guy stomping through your meal hahahah
