AdminEngineer06/10/2011What do you think the tagline will be for Prometheus? Or what do you think would be some good ideas for a tagline?
"In space, [i]it[/i] will hear you scream" ?
Let us know your suggestions and ideas here!

MemberOvomorph06/11/2011I hope Ridley Scott makes this film completely unaware of its other films, It will only insult the intelligence of the new audience
I think everyone would expect a similar tagline to "In Space...."
I have a feeling that Prometheus is the name of the ship that carries the CAST, But if the marketeers have there way....it could be disastrous.
On the theme of "Prometheus" (Prometheus stole Fire from Zeus and gave it to Mankind)....
I would love to see something like...
[b]Our Greatest Discovery becomes our worst nightmare[/b][size=200][/size]
Thanks,

Veteran MemberMemberOvomorph06/11/2011This is a pretty interesting topic. Unfortunately we don't know much about the actual story. However, based on the filmmaker's comments and rumors surrounding the project I came up with a few fairly corny taglines. I like the idea of connecting the new films tagline with the original "In space no one can hear you scream"...somehow. I know the last two are somewhat comical...but what the hell.
Before the nightmare began…the terror was unleashed.
Before the nightmare began…we awakened the beast.
Before the nightmare began…WE unleashed the terror.
In space the key to our future is discovered…and the source of our oblivion is leashed.
In space…terror is in the bloodstream.
In space no one could hear them scheme.
Somewhere in deepest space...all hell is breaking loose!

AdminEngineer06/11/2011I like how you guys are using the "Nightmare" analogy, as throughout the Alien films, Ripley would experience nightmares of the creature. In some pieces of "ALIEN" literature, the nightmares some experienced were the Alien's way of telepathically connecting to the individual.
Interresting that you both chose to use it. I really like Bishop's tagline and your[i] "Before the nightmare began…the terror was unleashed."[/i] Neurion, they both could pass for good taglines in my opinion.

Veteran MemberMemberOvomorph06/11/2011Hey Praetorian,
Can you gimmie a quick explanation as far as how to add pics or photos/images to my posts? I tryed to use the picture button on the site's reply task bar, but I was not successful.

AdminEngineer06/11/2011Hey Neurion,
To add images, you can anually add the BBcode image tags:
[code] [IMG]URL-to-your-image[/IMG] [/code]
And no problem! They were some very good ideas for taglines, though the last one was pretty funny.

AdminEngineer06/16/2011That's a good one Zeta, I notice a lot of fans are going with the "In Space..." beginning. I wonder if they will make the title a somehwat run off of that as a kind of tribute to the first Alien film... ?

Veteran MemberMemberOvomorph06/17/2011Sup...you hep Alien "Cats?"
Whatta ya guys think of Ridley Scott's whole implied Prometheus, Gods and Engineers, DNA, dark discovery, irresponsible science thing? Based on that spirit and concept...how about these tag-lines?....to corny?.....to biblical?....to dumb?
“…and on the eighth day, Man created his own…ANNIHILATION.”
“…and on the eighth day, MAN created LIFE…and his own Destruction.”
“On the eighth day, MAN created life…and IT was not good.”

I think it's a good approach. The idea of "PROMETHEUS" being the one to supposedly give man the gift of fire being implemented into this film is quite genius and can be taken in any way the director wants.
Prometheus gave man the gift of fire, but fire also proved to be one of the most destructive elements man has ever encountered. It brings light, but also brings death. Using this foundation with the Alien parasite; the Space Jockey's [i]could[/i] be like the titan Prometheus, allowing man to find the parasite (the fire) and with what the parasite gives man (knowledge), it is also man's worst encounter in all of history.
I would not be surprised if that turned out to be a scratchy version of the actual plotline.

MemberOvomorph06/30/2011I created an account just to respond to you Praetorian. I really like where you went with the analogies to Prometheus. To that end:
"When life evolved it started with war. Every predator has prey, and every prey is a predator. When mankind tipped the scales of balance through technology and science, life found a way. On a planet inhabited by an advanced race of [insert new race name here], a new evolution balanced the scales. An evolution, born of terror."
TAGLINES
In space... a predator is born
In space... fear has taken on new form
In space... life comes with it's own price
In space... it has awakened
And my personal favourite....
Rebirth... through Destruction

MemberOvomorph07/1/2011In light of the leaked supposed synopsis, I have a new 'ambigious' tagline...

MemberOvomorph02/10/2012I'll add to this - so many months later.
Now that the Tagline is out, what does everyone think?
"The Search For Our Beginning Could Lead To Our End"
It's okay only if it were not tied to the "Alien Universe" in any way. Because since it is, it does not make much sense since we know that nothing 'lead to our end' because life went on with Alien/Aliens/Alien 3/Alien: Resurrection (some 200+ years later)
