MemberOvomorph08/4/2011Hi guys, im new to this forum, so apologies if this question has already been asked, and many thanks to anyone who can fill me in on a thread already relating to this, but does anyone have a theory/prediction on if the Alien Queen will feature in Prometheus in some way? Ive read loads of talk of the film being related to the first Alien film, and loads of talk of the eggs/urns and seen the pictures of what looks like the huge head overlooking the eggs/urns, but i was wondering Ridley will show the Space Jockey 'engineering' the Queen in order to create the drones/warriors. Also, if the Queen does exists, and the Xenomorphs in Prometheus (if featured) prior to the original Alien film look different, will the Queen also be different? In Aliens, she pretty much looks like a bigger, more badass version of the smaller Alien, so i was wondering what the Space Jockey originally created.
Again, sorry if this has already been asked, im gonna have a looksee around the forum properly now. Thanks =]

AdminEngineer08/5/2011Hey there Mr. Jonze! Welcome to the Prometheus Movie forums!
If I am correct, I believe the Queen itself will NOT be featured in Prometheus for a few reasons; going by press release interviews and write-ups of the film already:
- The Queen was intriduced by James Cameron, not Ridley Scott and took the "ALIEN" in a new direction; one that Ridley Scott was not too fond of. Turning the Alien into more of a "bug" rather than a mysterious life form.
- The plot of Prometheus is to revolve around the Space Jockey and dive into the discovery or creation of what lead up to the creation of the facehugger - as far as I know.
- The Alien itself is said to be different, so the inclusion of an Alien Queen would not be expected.
However, this topic could be taken in many ways, maybe the Queen itself is a genetic mutation of the Alien gene and is nature's way of breaking free from the Space Jockey's control in an attempt to preserve the species and grow. Even in a deleted scene in the first ALIEN, which Ridley Scott DID direct, it shows the Alien cocooning its victims. This could all be linked to the formation of the Queen and ultimately the Alien's way of adapting, thriving and growing.
Many theories are floating about around this time regarding what will be explained, what will be introduced and what familiarities will we be exposed to, but the truth of the matter Jonze is that nobody knows for sure yet. But if we manage to get any answers we will be sure to post them up for you. Anyone else care to share a theory?

MemberOvomorph08/13/2011Anything that came after Alien should be forgotten! The introduction of the Queen took the very essence of the alien away. Aliens for me ruined a truly unique creation by turning it into a giant ant. The original concept was that the alien could self reproduce. What is happening to Dallas and Brett at the end of alien is truly terrifying.
I believe they will stick to the idea that the aliens were created by the space jockys for military/clean ups. I believe they will also show how ruthless these space jockys are.

I can't agree more. (I think i mentioned the same in another thread.) Which is the reason I believe Ridley and Fox chose to promote PROMETHEUS as a non-prequel movie that just happens to take place in the ALIEN universe.
Think about it... Based on the few images we've seen (both official and backstage) this is clearly a prequel. It may not actually feature THE Xenomorph but it will feature, in one way or another, the SpaceJockey. Scott has also said it will take place in the same universe as ALIEN and involve some form of alien DNA. Regardless if it does or doesn't link directly to the beginning of the first ALIEN, how is this not a prequel?
Fox and/or Scott probably took the "its-not-really-a-prequel" stance because Scott wants to give his own take on his mysterious alien lifeform concept and not have to take into account the concepts created by Cameron and FOX. FOX is marketing this film as a non-prequel to avoid pissing-off fans who only remember Aliens, Alien 3, and Alien Res. Believe it or not, (at least in my experience), there are not many people who like ALIEN over Aliens. This goes for both regular movie goers and sci-fi fans. Usually fans of the franchise realize "ALIEN" is the better film, but they enjoy "Aliens" more because its an action film (i.e.: marines with guns vs big bugs). If these fans go to see a movie that's labeled/marketed as a "PREQUEL TO Aliens", only to discover that the mythos of "the alien queen and marines in space" has been scrapped...they'll be dissapointed no matter how good Prometheus is. (I on the other hand will be joyed :) ) Again, this is my opinion and I speak of my experience only.

MemberOvomorph08/15/2011Draekus,you have hit the nail on the head! Its a clever marketing ploy by fox to label Prometheus as a stand alone film. Lets face it...the alien queen bullshit has been done to death, lets get back to the real story!

MemberOvomorph09/8/2011I totally agree with all of you that anything after Alien is probably gonna be forgotten by Scott, I just wondered if the Queen would get a mention for continuity sake. Also agreed is that she has been done to death, and in my opinion her presence should have only been included in Aliens and the end of Alien 3. In 4 she looks ridiculous and in AvP…well, let's not talk about that. And I do hate what Cameron did to the Alien in the second film. The head was all wrong, it lost it's gracefulness, it's mystery. What I loved about the original Alien is that with the domed head, it looked like a spaceman itself.
I loved the scene with Brett and Dallas being coccooned or being turned into eggs, or whatever it was the Alien was doing to them. I read somewhere once that it was doing that because there was no Queen present, and it was a natural survival instinct to keep it's species thriving. I do like the idea of the Queen eventually becoming a sort of mutated Alien gene.
Ps - hehe Jonsey you can be the legendary kitty from the first film, but Jonze is my surname. Sheer coincidence :-)
