Hello all, just signed up after lurking for a few day... good to be here. like yourselves, huge fan of the alien genre. i just got done watching alien again yesterday, and this time i wondered what happened to the alien that burst from the jocky? could it have been a female that layed the eggs in the hull/Cavern under the ship? maybe it wasn't transporting them at all. i'm also thinking it could have died in the crash or died of starvation... maybe it's still out there. Food for thought and i guess we'll find out come Prometheus.

Hey Guys, The Alien is supposed to have a very short lived life span much like the mayfly. The mayfly lives in fresh water as a nymph for a year but once it matures and turns into an adult it lives a single day and its sole purpose is to reproduce. My guess is it is somewhere keeled over dead. But, we have no idea what the aliens final life stages are though it could melt down into a stew since it has molecular acid for blood or it could just fall over dead and decay like we do. Regards, Rick

It'll be interesting how Ridley reconciles the lifecycle of the alien in Prometheus with the variants seen in "Alien" and "Aliens". If the Space Jockey gave birth to a queen, it could have created all those eggs before it dies (or goes into hibernation - something alluded to in the Alien novelization). It seems that Ridley's vision originally required the alien to cocoon victims in order to transform them into eggs. If that's the case, where did those eggs come from in the derelict? Of course, there's the possibility that the alien transforms its first victim into an egg that generates a queen ...
