MemberOvomorph12/19/2011i've been a longtime / diehard ALIEN film fan ever since i first saw it back
in 1987 via the local video store (missed it on the big screen in 1979 sadly)
since seeing ALIEN, i've collected a fair amount of books on the making of it,
and i am lucky enough to own a copy of a book called "Colorvision" by the great
concept artist Ron Cobb who was responsible for a great deal of the look of the
Nostromo's sets / props / etc...which is in that particular book
i was wondering, if anyone else has noticed or caught on to the fact that a LOT
of what seems to have been designed and scripted for PROMETHEUS has been
directly sourced from some of the now classic the pre-production artwork Cobb
did for Scott and O'Bannon for the first ALIEN waaaaay back in 1977 / 1978
like the urns / vases / vessels that are on the dwelling ground of the ENGINEER'S
home world, as well as the "STARBEAST" name that describes what one of the
characters ends up transforming into on that "leaked" script that has been debated
and disregarded by most folks on these boards....
if anyone else knows what i am referring to,
can you humor me and let me know your thoughts
thanx

MemberOvomorph12/19/2011it's the same director returning to the same territory as his most accomplished film, so that's pretty much a given.
also, you said that a human transforms into the star beast? if so, that gives credence to the theory i lazily thought up about the alien being created from humans.

MemberOvomorph12/19/2011@walterchiller: it makes sense Scott would dig deep into things / ideas that
perhaps didn't really work for the 1st film, that now (perhaps) work for this new film
the "STARBEAST" is referenced in Ron Cobb's book,
as the name he gave his own design for the alien, crude looking
in comparison to Giger's fantastic looking final design of the Alien
in the leaked script i referred to,
it's one of the androids that transforms into said beast, making it half mechanical
and half alien (providing that leaked script is legitimate. from the looks of these
2 new teaser trailers, that seems to be the case. and the leaked script named this
hybrid creature "STARBEAST" specifically, which added to my suspicion that
Scott is delving deep into the 1st films pre-production artwork and ideas
time will tell....

MemberOvomorph12/20/2011that was a totally unrealiable "leaked" script to me ( all names are wrong and we dont see any of the situations from the trailer or stills , plus the same author admitted is a fake ) ...so probably he did put that name because is a diehard alien fan like you :)

MemberOvomorph12/20/2011you make a valid point. at the same time, the stills from these new teasers
compel me to think that part of that leaked script make in fact have some
showing in the final film. it is all subjective i guess.
