Mr. Ripley
MemberOvomorph12/30/2011There is little doubt that Prometheus is one of the most anticipated films in decades. With all the speculation and numerous theories surrounding this film, especially after the recent trailer release, it seems that the consensus of most people is that Ridley is going to ignore all sequels that came after Alien and tell the story as he sees fit, even if it flies in the face of all the sequels.
It is my hope that this film can reboot the entire Alien franchise in a creative way that spawns quality rebooted sequels to Alien, or in the alternative, quality sequels to Prometheus that explores other aspects of the Alien universe. It would be my dream to see the Alien franchise rebooted. I certainly don't like how the franchise ended up in Resurrection and the AVP spin-off is nothing less than an abomination. Here is to hoping that the franchise can be rebooted with quality.

MemberOvomorph12/30/2011If the movie goes well ...i say do another with Ridleys scott as a Sequel to ALIEN ( even if i think that Aliens is fantastic ) ...so we have a fantastic trilogy
Prometheus - Alien - ?
of course they will never accept that .

Veteran MemberMemberOvomorph12/30/2011 Why didn't they go back to LV-426 especially after Aliens? even after Alien 3 there was that lone survivor, the guy the alien wouldn't kill cause...? There was something kinda special about that guy. He kinda looked like the guy in the wheelchair Alien 4? No not the same guy but still that guy was kinda crazy. You know seeing dragons N' shit. Like who hasn't been back to LV-426 in their imaginationings....with one of these:

MemberOvomorph12/30/2011I believe Lindelof said something like "if there's a sequel to Prometheus, it wouldn't be Alien", and if I recall correctly, there was a story on Alien Prequel News which stated something like "insiders say the studio is already mulling a sequel", so IMO, we'll likely get something like Prom 2 (Prometheus Unbound?), if the first film's a hit.

MemberOvomorph12/30/2011No one's gone back to LV-426 because the sector was completely levelled by the thermonuclear explosion caused by the escalating instability and inevitable collapse of the reactors cores of all the terraforming towers. Unless I'm gravely mistaken, I'm pretty sure this not only included the human settlement, Hadley's Hope, but also the location of the "derelict" crash site.
Regarding reboots, personally, I don't see any value for fans in rebooting the entire franchise, for this simple reason alone: nobody, not ever, will be able to make a better Alien - or Aliens for that matter. How do you better these films from what they already are? I'd argue that you can't.
I mean, you wouldn't reboot Star Wars (IV-V), or Godfather I & II. However, you will notice I mention only part of two celebrated trilogies, which leads me to my next point: rather than reboot the entire franchise, why not just remake the "ugly sister"?
So, if you were to say, "lets start over from Alien 3 onwards" now then you'd be talking. McG had the same idea with the Terminator franchise: by ignoring Terminator 3 altogether.

Then eagle eyes!.....The derelict can't be destroyed and anyway it was far off in the hills far away from the explosion of the reactor? Eating your liver fast food style outlet LV-426.

MemberOvomorph12/30/2011I actually was hyping myself a bit too, I look forward to getting good and toasty and pulling all an "all-Nighter" on that one!

MemberOvomorph12/30/2011I wish I was any good at video games these days. Unfortunately, the three-dimensionalism and complex controls render me incapable. I still pine for the good ol' days of Sega Megadrive and Super Nintendo.

MemberOvomorph12/30/2011hahahahaha
"Pong" was my first.
Then, "Space invaders",
Than "Simon" !
My Father was in charge at Irwin Toy when I was a kid and they bought Atari and stared making the units in Japan. The cheaper labor made up for even the shipping costs of the units to North America, but I was the one they asked tho green and red light the cartridges for Canada... I green lit "Adventure", "Missle Command" & "Kaboom", plus most of the other activision produced titles for it.
Those were the days my man.
Know exactly what you mean, as I get older {I'll be 50 in June} I am realizing everything becomes about losing stuff...your hair, eyesight, back muscles, money, mad video gaming skills, etc etc...
I try to stay young and have held on to all of my fun childhood habits like video games and rock and roll and movies.

MemberOvomorph12/30/2011Hey, we're all young at heart: still those same kids mesmerised by Star Wars and Alien and the rest of it.

MemberOvomorph12/30/2011As a little bonus though , & so fans such as yourself can have what you want.,,
Sega recruited a company called GEARBOX to create the next Aliens related video game which will continue right after the events of Aliens, where it left off, with the destruction of most of the planet we know as LV-426.
It is a direct sequel to the film Aliens.
Comes out this spring and is called "Aliens: Colonial Marines" !!!
& I am sorry to say that's the closest your "prolly" ever gonna get to getting your wish!!

MemberOvomorph12/31/2011I remember also starting of with pong and then moving onto an atari...I would go to the store and stare at it for like an hour..the store manager became alarmed at my peculiar behavior and that combined with my constant whining and hysterical tantrum fits eventually forced my parents to buy me one...lol
Then we got a commodore 64 , then a sega megadrive...Playstation1 and after that i moved away from consoles and became a PC gamer. I have'nt looked back...!
I am also getting on in years now...will be turning 41 next month...gimme a nice RPG or RTS....but first person shooters...oh god no!....I suck at those...the slightest movement and i jerk my mouse all over the place...shooting everything but the enemy....I will just have to hone my skills for Colonial Marines!
I don't really see Prometheus as the ideal story to spark a video game ...but then again...who knows?
As far as a sequel to Prometheus...hell yeah I hope so!....something that runs parallel to the Alien franchise.

MemberOvomorph12/31/2011I wouldn't mind if this is a reboot and follows a different path. I think RS considers the Xeno's allure depleted. We know so much about it, except where it came from. IMO that may be the only connection we see in Prometheus. I think the Xeno link will be just a small bit of what the SJs have the ability to create. From that we get a whole lot of other ways to go..and I think RS will take advantage of delving into areas that have not been done SO SO much, unlike the Xeno. RS is creating a new mythos that will be just as good as the Alien, if not better.

MemberOvomorph12/31/2011I don't think Prometheus is a reboot at all. The way I see it, it's another brick in the wall for the Aliens/Predator/Prometheus franchises. Think of it like this, The 4 Alien films stand on their own as do the 2 Predator films, AVP & AVP:R are the bricks that link Alien and Predator, Prometheus is what i think will be the link between the Alien films and Spacejockey/Engineer films (if they are to make more and turn them into a separate franchise)

MemberOvomorph12/31/2011I have drawn up a very crude pic in paint to explain this, could someone tell me how to post it up please?
