Spin-doctoring by Fox/fans?

The gif, leaked footage and past experience with Ridley Scott led me to ponder that the obscurity in all we see is by design. Lot of the people here seems to take everything with a grain of salt anyway and that is a good thing! Nothing can be trusted before we see the actual film.
First: we know that what was present in the original Alien trailer was not in the movie. Second: RS makes vague statements that are very open for interpretation. So does the cast. Some could be outright false. Why? It is all part of the marketing. Getting people thinking about the film and discussing it but at the same time not revealing the plot. I myself like not knowing too much.
second: These leaks could also be by design. Either by the Fox or by the fans. Just looking at the leaked trailer it could not be any worse quality. It is close to being totally intelligible. The person leaking it definately had it in good format. Why not leak the original but take pains to produce material of terrible quality? Also the so called Serpent GIF... even worse quality creating more misguided discussion. The latter was probably by some fan and some people on the Internets absolutely love creating these wild goose chases. Just look at the amount of fan made bogus OFFICIAL trailers.
How deep does spin doctoring nowadays go? When someone in the forum is starting to make too much sense there could be some paid worker starting to work against that. Throwing new "just leaked" material as a counter measure, directing attention to insignificant issues or delicately trolling the discussion. We already know somebody from Fox is watching over the Internets as some material has vanished.
Makes you think just how big waste of time and human resources it is to discuss on forums created for upcoming movies, no? Maybe we should be more mindful about how and what we discuss on. What are the topics to avoid? In a retrospect the "Serpent GIF" could be one to avoid...
