The image does look a bit like a Space Jockey but with some differences… the jutted out jaw looks very Xenomorph style and the top part of the skull screams ‘facehugger’ whilst this is apparently being worn by somebody in the film! Who could it be?
Now a similar design does feature in the trailer (at 00.35 seconds, and looks like the head of the Space Jockey seen in ALIEN) but the one here is smaller, human-sized and designed specifically for an actor to wear and described as the face design for ‘the alien’. There’s that mysterious humanoid figure in the trailer at 0.44 seconds but it’s not clear enough to tell what its face looks like."""
it appear to be from a trustworthy font .

MemberOvomorph01/10/2012they say is a " early work on a prosthetic mask design for “the alien” "

MemberOvomorph01/10/2012I don't really see the facehugger on these images. The "tail" just looks like a nose to me. Unless the facehugger has crawled up into the poor chaps maxillary sinuses.
Pretty cool stuff. I find it interesting that this is a prosthetic mask made for an actor to wear. I'm really starting to think that the Space Jockey species was created by the engineers like humans. I also wonder if this being is what goes inside the giants SJ suit instead on the Engineer (Blue guy).
So maybe Engineers = Gods, and SJ = Prometheus like others have proposed.

MemberOvomorph01/10/2012Oh man, I think I just hit on something. That is a facehugger on this. I think what is going on here is this is the mask for the SJ head piece......
Follow me here. If we are going with the idea that the Sj suit is bio-mech and part of the chair when whatever sits in it......the head piece wraps around the being head. This mask seems to indicate that as it was closing over the beings face, the facehugger quickly attached itself to the face and the head piece finished around it. Or maybe it isn't even that...maybe part of the being has to be fused with the facehugger to fully operate the ship. Thereby, making it part of the suit. Hence, the SJ we have known and loved all along....so to speak.
I know we still have no idea but for some reason, when this hit me...it hit hard.

MemberXenomorph01/10/2012Frantz,
That looks more like a skull you can see the cranial suturing pattern on the top where the soft spot filled in. That would be an awesome bust to CGI and cover with fake skin.

MemberOvomorph01/10/2012i dont see a facehugger too ..is an assumption of that site ...however the trunk and nose shape is quite similar to a facehugger tail

MemberOvomorph01/10/2012it is pretty easy to see, not saying it is there for sure but if you follow my thinking...
My art is awful in the outlining but it shows what I mean...

comparative shots show what I am talking about. I think this may be close to what happens in the film now.

MemberOvomorph01/10/2012I still do not believe we are seeing the Sj from the original film though. as others have stated....too many differences in appearance to be just stylistic differences.

MemberOvomorph01/10/2012Why are the eye sockets clearly visible when they should be covered?

MemberOvomorph01/10/2012well that goes along with it being a suit and not the actual head. Like i have said, this isn't a definite thing, just my theory.

MemberOvomorph01/10/2012from what ive seen the actual derilict is sitting incorrectly, originally it was laying flatlike, now its completely straight up. whats up with that.

MemberOvomorph01/10/2012there are too many tails here ...one from face huggers ...one in the ampule ...one as the SJ trunk ...cant be just design ...

MemberOvomorph01/11/2012I blatantly see the facehugger, I am so intrigued to see how this is all going to come together, the facehugger, the space jockeys....the xenomorphs. Incredibly exciting and intriguing - Hope it lives up to all our expectations!

MemberOvomorph01/11/2012Nice find Frantz, but I wonder... The background doesn't look like an FX production shop it looks like someones basement and for some reason this sculpture looks familiar to me but it could be just deJavu.
The similarities to the facehugger could be because the engineer who makes both use DNA sequences like programmers use libraries of code. The oxygen sequence that gives the facehugger victim air might also be suitable to use as a facemask to give the alien air.
If it is even real I wouldn't read too much into this.

MemberOvomorph01/12/2012The article is not saying that these masks have facehuggers on them.. The article states that they have images of the new "creature" (dare I call it by another name) that has a top portion that "screams facehugger".
Then the article goes on to say "Now a similar design does feature in the trailer".. and they go on about the masks that they show..
They are not saying that these trunks are facehuggers..

MemberOvomorph01/12/2012We know that. I was just stating an observation about the pictures.
