So we still don't know who/what the guy behind the "S" is in the Prometheus Trailer. Some think its the Space Jokey sans the suit. Anyways, someone on a different forum brought up old Giger concept artwork for the original ALIEN that may also be the inspiration for the design of the "Guy behind the S". I'm very familiar with these particular images but I never made the connection myself. He's got a good point. Check it out below and chime in. Thank u for bringing up the giger artwork in connection with the prometheus trailer vidcap. i totally oversaw that there is a space jockey Having his hands on one alien egg. maybe this was a hint that the sj always were responsible for the creation of the alien species. the question is how and why.

What would be weird would be the "pilot" being a sacrificial vessel for the deployment of the Alien, by design...

@Macs While I don't think that's the plot to the movie, it would be an interesting concept. Makes sense in a way... especially if the pilot would have to be the first one to be impregnated for the rest of the "eggs" to activate. In other words the fail-safe for such a potent weapon (aliens) would be that the pilot has to be the first to die to initiate the weapon system: Deliver the payload. Become host for the first alien. Alien purification commences.

I think probably Giger would never have drawn a human with hair. This is why the humanoid in this picture is bald?

Giger drawing & concepts are difficult to translate in the literal way. His bio-mechanic images are supposed to be a poetic nightmare. When Ridley chose this Space Jockey design he meant it, I think, NOT as a rational design. He meant it to be incomprehensible, undefinable by science, "Unknown" as Dallas put it, full stop.

His Alien Hieroglyphics piece backs up two things we've gathered from Prometheus -- the jockey bodies being "suits", and the love affair these things have with the eggs. Are they a careless race? We've only seen the jockey "suit" twice and in both cases there's been evidence of a facehugger or similar creature in the area. Do they use them on each other? Bunch of sickos the lot of 'em...

the guy with the thing in his mouth is a human. obviously a concept for the face hugger. how the hell do you lump that with space jockey? just cause he has a bald head? you're an idiot. also, the space jockey, the real one on the left has an elongated head and non human facial features/mouth.

Actually, the dude with the thing in his mouth does look like the "SJ" from the clip. If you notice, it also looks like the drawing has the body of the "victim" as non-human. This, of course, is a n old concept drawing from Giger, so take all of this with a grain of salt (Who says the one on the left is the "SJ" anyway?). Also, it is a bit rude to call people idiots, specially if you sound like one yourself.
