MemberOvomorph01/19/2012There's been many interesting theories on this forum, as to how things fit together and will bridge up with the Alien movie. However, I have yet to come across one that to me seems like the most obvious (imho of course), is that the the Xenomorphs are the Space Jockeys.
Supposedly the SJs are this superior creator race that has seeded earth and possibly other planets. So if they have this deep insight into genetic manipulation, perhaps they also sought to improve their own selves. In the process of doing that they corrupted themselves into this "alien" race. This again could put us in similarity to humanity, that we also try to improve upon ourselves be it through surgery, dietary restrictions, physical exercise etc. However, with the SJs it might have gone too far not realising nor admitting their own shortcomings and the civilization finally collapsed on itself.
This to me would fit in with the religious/spiritual tone that is rumoured to exist in the movie. Origin of humanity, God, perfection vs. imperfection etc. The giant head implies some sort of self-idolization yet they are not around any more.
What do you guys think?

F--- it - lets go for it!
MemberOvomorph01/19/2012i think they're definitely from the same stock, a splice from their DNA as are the humans....
but who created the sj's and who do the gods worship?
the theme is origin of humanity, but origins of the creators...?

MemberOvomorph01/19/2012I agree the main theme is origin of humanity, but it's not the only theme being touched. Hence we have one character who is supposedly religious. It's the whole Science vs. Religion. Another thing I thought when I saw the big statue of the head, was "Godhead". So at least for me religion/spirituality seems to be an evident theme in this flick.
I don't think the SJs worship or adore anything but themselves, as they see themselves selfsufficient (Godhead statue again). Perhaps they know something else about the universe, which the movie will reveal.
Another interesting thing is the Derelict. Perhaps it's really some sort of a Noahic Ark. Living speciments from their own planet being transformed to a new home. I don't know for some reason, I feel the movie will play a lot on the realm of science and religion and mix it up to add a whole new dimension and mythology. All of this to make it more than a simple sci fi horro flick with some people ending up dead fighting the enemy.

MemberOvomorph01/19/2012I read on the web a few months, some guy had a blog devoted to Alien, and I read on it that the original idea behind the zenomorph in the early 70's, before the film was in production, was that once they broke out of the rib cage they were very dangerous and every thing else we have seen in Alien and Aliens.....
However, the zenomorph is capable of living for century's! As they mature they loses the dangerous side and become grand architects and peaceful..... (I realise I didn't describe this very well)
Could the SJ be the older version of the zenomorph????
I'll try and find the blog and post the link here....

MemberOvomorph01/19/2012I feel the only relation between the SJ and the xenos are that the SJ "engineered" the xenos, for whatever purpose. Granted their structure looks similar, meaning an exoskeleton look (ribs..arm).

MemberOvomorph01/19/2012What if the whole movie is about the tragedy of Space Jockeys trying to re-create the perfection that is Godhood? The Jockeys have with them the device/means/knowledge to re-sequence DNA or whatever the building blocks of life are, and seed various planets with diverse forms of organisms as experiments to achieve the Perfect Organism, or God. What they stumble on is the creation of nasty critters like our beloved Xenos, a creature that could reproduce asexually and perpetuate without "delusion of morality."

MemberOvomorph01/19/2012I don't think we will see the xenos, they are not the jockeys but nice thinking know. It sounds bad .... but i don't want to see the xenos.... i want to see something that makes them look like puppies.... get my drift lol

MemberOvomorph01/19/2012Well it's said that humans were created in God's image. Going by this definition, we can assume the Xenomorph were created by the SJ as this following evidence indicates - 1. The physical build of xeno's, looking slightly organic AND biomechanical matches up with the technology seen in the SJ's Derelict ship in Alien and 2. The similarity between the eggs and the Urns seen in the massive ampule room in Prometheus. . .

MemberOvomorph01/19/2012Also Engr101 - I think you maybe correct there! The SJ's had good intentions when creating a species considered to be perfect, but perfection is impossible to be honest. So the one flaw the xenomorphs had were, they were created pretty perfectly (born without malice, morality, guilt, can reproduce pretty any way possible) but it was also born with intenst anger and aggression, this balances the equation of the perfect qualites it does have.
