MemberOvomorph01/25/2012If the film is shot in genuine 3D, like Avatar and Transformers Dark of the Moon was then it may work. BUT seeing as Prometheus is meant to be a dark horror/sci-fi, I'm not sure hmm. . .

MemberOvomorph01/25/2012yes i agree those films do look good in 3d
Have you ever tried watching the Alien films in 3d (with the Samsung tv's you can switch the 2d into 3d mode its not perfect but you do get a sence of depth ect) they do look quite good Aliens looks the best out of the four but there not bad
Ridley would not have used the technology if he didn't think it could work, if the studio said film it in 3d and make it pg13 just to put bums on seats I think Ridley would have said get stuffed he was only ever going to come back to Alien if he could do it his way

MemberOvomorph01/25/2012I'm not yet won over by Real3D. Maybe Ridley Scott can change my mind!
If it is to be believed, Ridley was quoted: "I’ll never work without 3D again, even for small dialogue scenes." Source - http://www.slashfilm.com/ridley-scott-work-3d/
I am still stunned at this comment, and would almost want it to be half serious joke on his part. Or maybe a 3D-pushing financier for Prometheus had a gun concealed to Ridley's back when he was reported to have said this?

MemberOvomorph01/25/2012Should be 4D where you can feel the heat and the slime and blood when people are over run by the Alien....you will come out of the theater, well, drenched in KY and face blood.

MemberOvomorph01/25/2012I think the 3 D effect was nice when i went in for Avatar, but honestly, i don't care about that gimmick. Just give me a good movie with good effects within.

MemberOvomorph01/25/2012If I have the option I will see the 2D version, if not, oh well...the movie will still be freakin' awesome!!!

MemberOvomorph01/25/2012i wear specs already so until i can get laser eye surgery i'm not that enthusiastic about wearing two pairs of glasses although if i had 20/20 vision i think i would feel different about it.

MemberOvomorph01/25/2012I think 3D is shit. It drains your attention and you see less of the movie. Specially in something like I expect "Prometheus" will be, it´s a shame.

Co-AdminMemberOvomorph01/25/20123D makes me want to hurl, no matter what I see it in. So no, 2D all the way for me. I really wish they would listen to people that say it isn't good for people's eyes.

MemberOvomorph01/25/2012when i read that Ridley was shooting PROMETHEUS in 3D,
i was both excited yet torn at the idea. wearing those 3D glasses
can be annoying, especially if you already were prescription eye
glasses like i do
the only 3D film i've seen in the past 2 years was TRON:Legacy,
the 3D "effect' wasn't too impressive, since that film was formatted
to 3D AFTER the success of Avatar
with that said,
in the previews that ran with the TRON:Legacy 3D film,
there was a film trailer for a nature documentary called "Born to Be Wild",
the opening shot of that trailers shows some Orangutans getting into a lake,
the effect was truly ARRESTING, it really did feel like i was there, the depth
of field perception was totally convincing on film. turns out, that film had
been filmed with James Cameron's WETA / 3D technology, and few films
are granted that prestigious honor. the only other film that i know of that
was allowed that exclusive digital 3D processes was "Resident Evil: Afterlife",
other than that, the list of films allowed to be filmed with WETA's exclusive
process is a short list
i am not sure if Ridley is using the same WETA / 3D process for PROMETHEUS,
but i did read that Scott is in fact using WETA Digital for the CGI FX, so there is
hope that the 3D effect will either match or (hopefully) surpass what Avatar and
Born to Be Wild presented in regards to a convincing 3D visual experience
i can only imagine with heart-pounding enthusiasm, just how "epic"
(sorry, redundant i know) the red lasers, PROMETHEUS craft, and the Engineer's
spacecraft would look on the big screen with such advanced and hi-tech 3D film
process used
DEFINITELY something to look forward to, IF Cameron's much sought after,
and equally exclusive WETA / 3D film process is used for PROMETHEUS
if i am able to, i will watch PROMETHEUS in both 2D and 3D formats
can't wait....

MemberOvomorph01/25/2012I'm definately not a fan of Real 3D, but I know for sure, unless I'm terribly dissappointed with it (don't really see that happening), that I will see 'Prometheus' in both versions, in part because I'm intrigued at Ridley's apparent faith in the technology and also, because he filmed it that way, it's an intrigal part of how the film is imagined and executed....and that intent ias as important a part of how a movie is put together as any. So I feel I have to give it that chance.

MemberOvomorph01/31/2012I just saw Underworld in 3d. Not sure if it was in the best theater. Was not impressed. Images were very jumpy and cgi was very spiderman 3ish. Makes me worry that veiwing prometheus in 3 D will be a bad choice.
