The 'crash'

Hi gang, not posted for a wee while - hope we're all ok :-) ...just a little thought I've been having re. the crash of a certain horse shoe. Here's what I'm thinking: I'm going to remain sceptic about how or why or even 'IF' it crashes as to be honest (although it does look very likely!) some folks seem pretty darn adamant that there's a collision (..could be an explosion...!) and that following this it crashes, stopping upright. Now we've all seen plenty of trailers and teasers in the past and we should be well aware of the little tricks the powers that be employ in said trailers and teasers. For one, and I think this is quite important - we have no idea that the scenes we are shown in the trailer actually occur in that order in the film itself! I think some of us need to bare this in mind! There is also every chance that those scenes do indeed occur in that order. But we just don't know for DEFINATE - we've not seen the blummin thing! So some should pipe-down a little saying "it IS this" or "this does happen 'cos we've all discussed it. Anywho, I digress. My theory:- ...the scene where we see two of our famous ladies running for the lives, it appears its the derelict rolling (albeit stood vertically) toward them. And then we see an aerial-type shot of the thing now at rest and stoof vertical. And we all recall seeing the darn thing laid flat in a couple of famous movies. So ....assuming for a moment we have a crash, and adding more conjecture by saying this is same vessel as in Alien (- and taking into account my little 'rant' above), I'm thinking that, I) mid-air incident leads to II) impacting the ground on side or edge and then due to momentum of impact and force begins to roll (girlies were nearby and are now having to leg-it, III) slows to stop vertically (que aerial shot) and then within mere moments (that we haven't seen) as Noomi is seeing looking at it upright and catching her breath and checking how many of nine lives remain, possibly topples over and is thusly laid flat ...ish. Thoughts gang? Pure conjecture I know, however logically speaking, not impossible.

I've already said my piece on a thread a few days ago. I think the shot of it upright and with Shaw peering up at it COULD BE before any collision occurs. But this site appears to be getting a little communist like lately so I will use my freedom of speech and thought whilst I still can,........ Lols, (jokes - no offence intended) :)

@Herk Mondo: you make some valid points after i watched the HD PROMETHEUS trailer so MANY TIMES over, the shot of the Engineer's craft seems to have collided violently with another craft in mid air above the landscape that Shaw and Vickers seemed to have touched down on, and if you notice, the Engineer's ship seems to have made a deep HUGE divot on the side of a mound of soil (see the frozen frame in the trailer on this websites homepage) the craft seems to have collided / dropped / then rolled over and over as both Shaw and Vickers flee to escape the crashing ships ground-bound rolling trajectory i'm glad i am not alone in this particular observation. great theory there Herk Mondo

There's no way to know until the movie is shown. But there is definitely SOMETHING strange about this whole crash situation. The ship definitely "crashes" but I am willing to bet it does NOT 'collide' with something mid-air. I would say that something happens INSIDE the ship to cause the crash. But the most strange thing is HOW we see it in the trailer: 'upright', 'rolling', smashing into the ground. Honestly it's all VERY odd. If this was a Michael Bay movie trailer the whole scene could easily be guessed but this is just strange.

Maybe they just want that Summer Movie cliche: heroes being chased by fireball/exploding cars/crashing & burning ships/train/trucks as they run towards the camera. A giant rolling alien ship? Think about it.

Why don't we start "a Book" on this and just play for bragging rights!!! closest theory wins!!!....I'll even start a thread where we can pay homage to the winner

I remember seeing the trailer for Star Wars Episode III ... had a lot of sequences and disorderly scenes, ie at random. It has come to pass me the scene of the great head occurs on Earth. Regarding the crash, we can see a scene in the trailer for Vickers tightening their belts in a kind of emergency Pod, who knows, maybe she prepared to leave the hall before crash against the ship Jockey . But it is also possible that as the images are random. Maybe it sounds unimaginative but I think the Prometheus crashed into the Derelict to prevent this infest the land, ie a true Kamikaze ...

That shot of the Derelict appearing to stand upright on solid ground looks to me as if it could well be a totally different planet and/or "Derelict" type ship. . . It looks like that's it's true docking position of sorts.

Like a few of us say - "who knows for sure?" lol. But it's great to wonder what's happening with the little tif-bits that we do know/have seen. I must say though, I'm not entirely convinced myself that it is the same vessel as found in Alien, or even if it's the same planet - due to the difference in landscape, etc. But again like others have also reasoned - this could be due to some natural event that happens in the time between Prometheus and Alien? But for example - where are all the strange 'rock formations'/growths whatever the heck they were that were dotted all around. It could even be down to artistic licence/differences of ideas between the two movie's production teams. So many possibities lol.

I don't think it's a collision as such, if the Weyland ship hit the 'derelict' both would be reduced to twisted metal. It's more likely from my point of view to be a case of the Weyland ship self-destructing or being destroyed by a weapon from the 'derelict'.
