MemberOvomorph02/18/2012In another thread I had mentioned how I thought I could make out the image of a pyramid in the trailer. I've been asked to make this a new thread. So here goes...pieces of this have already been said on this forum...this is just my take...

Why is the pyramid important?
In the original Alien script, the Space Jockey (Mundus gubernavi, meaning "Universal Pilot"), was to be found as he was by the Nostromo crew. But, in addition, they were also supposed to see a pyramid 'shape' that the SJ had 'carved' into it's telescope/navigation device. Then they were supposed to find the pyramid
and the temple with the sumerian-type script full of Alien eggs. Then Kane looks inside...etc.
Fox had already given RS a hard time about the cost of the life size SJ set. A separate pyramid set was just out of the question.
So again - why is the pyramid important?
Because it ties in with HR Giger's Alien life cycle.

See the triangle? That's the pyramid.
The top of the triangle ends in an indiscernible whitish ball.
We never actually see what gave 'birth' to the original Alien in this image.
One could say that the whitish ball represents the control room in the middle of the delerict. Indeed, the entire Leg + Arm surrounding the triangle are very symbolic of the entire derelict ship.
A casual reference? I think not. This goes with the whole 'the SJ's are merely symbiotic hosts for the Alien' theory.

Giger actually made a pyramid painting when he thought it was going to be made for the movie.

Giger's art works because he taps into our subconscious. We are drawn in by familiar biological elements. But then we are repulsed by their seeming mutation. Then we are drawn back in, this time looking for connections between the two. Why do we do that?
So, from one over-active imagination to another - what do you think?

MemberOvomorph02/18/2012Nice post brother. I am not seeing the pyramid in the screencap, but I do believe that is a structure of some sort. In that scene when the door/gate is lowering, once it lowers all the way, I believe I see a wall. That to me is the biggest indicator of this not being our imaginations. Whether it is a 'pyramid' or just some building, is a different thing altogether. To me it looks like that drawing he did for Dune!

I remember the diagrams on the Alien DVD I got I think 98 and seeing the pyramid concepts and how vast and deep they were espicially the sketch where Kane is supposed to fall in the egg chamber in the pyramid. If this pyramid is in Prometheus or its sequel I tell ya we are in for an epic series that will really make Alien bigger and better than how we see it!

MemberOvomorph02/18/2012I think Ridley et al, referred to the pyramid as an "egg silo". I noticed in the trailer that the Prometheus crew is speeding back to the landing ship on a perfectly straight road! Huh?!?

[b]If[/b] this is the run-away-from-the-temple-because-one-of-our-crew-just-got-zapped scene, then I would guess their coming back from the pyramid...
In the trailer we see 3 vehicles leaving the 'mother' ship...in the straight road scene we see 3 vehicles booking it back fast to a ship .... I think they are the same vehicles in each scene...

MemberOvomorph02/18/2012Very good thread, really great. The original idea of the pyramid of Alien the eighth passenger would be totally epic and successful for Prometheus.
But on the other side (just speculating of course) I can think of several questions and hypotheses:
1. Does the pyramid will be on earth?, Ie the archaeological ruins that contain the coordinates to the "Paradise."
2. Is the Pyramid is located in the Planet of the SJ?
3. The planet SJ and the planetoid LV-426 are not the same, therefore the Pyramid could be in LV-426.
4. Does Pyramid has always been on earth? Considering the possibility of time travel.

MemberOvomorph02/20/2012The picture of the Xenomorph life cycle that you posted, I have a few thoughts on that one -
1. The bit right at the top where it looks like the "pyramid" begins, I think it's safe to say that it is where the eggs themselves are formed.
2. The creature sat beside the egg, can we presume that's a Space Jockey?? If so, the creature that a facehugger is attached itself to is obviously the same species. . .

The question is - Does the space jockey willingly give itself to the egg?
It would appear so...and then the question becomes - why?
Shambhala - The pyramid that contains the eggs or the proto-type of the eggs will not be on Earth. The crew may find the clues that lead them to that faraway pyramid in an Earth pyramid - I'm not sure about that... LV-426 may just be a 'weigh-station' where one of several batches of proto-eggs will be found. I suspect there is more than one batch of 'eggs' ...
On another thread we're discussing what the runes on the SJ sarcophagi could possibly mean. I've posted some [url=http://www.prometheus-movie.com/community/forums/topic/1297&page=3] 'out there' [/url]speculations.

The palace/temple does look like a Xeno head with the face plate down.
The silhouette from the Bay Door does look about the same too. Looks like Giger may finally make some money off his hard work on Dune. Giger may be more involved in this movie than just a couple of huge murals like Ridley is leading on.

MemberOvomorphFeb-26-2012 4:15 AMI think the pyramids they find will be on mars and they discover a star map there leading to the SJ's world. I believe the planet they're on speeding back towards the ship and leaving it in an earlier scene is infact Mars. I dont think LV-426 is in this movie maybe the next to lead to Alien.

MemberOvomorphJan-07-2013 3:14 PMSpeaking about the pyramids on a recent viewing when Janek is sort of looking over the pups' mapping I noticed that the Outer skin was displayed along with the inner tunnels and ramps leading up in to the dome.
Was there any indiction that pups visited the outside of the domes?
It would be easy to project a outer pix on the dome area for reference to the ramps ijnside. Still where did the outer portayal come from?
It looks pretty detailed as Janek is trying to figure out where Fifield/Millburn are located.
Would a closer exam of the outer skin of the domes yield anything worthwhile to our story line?
Construction methods. material used..the reason for the wall built all round each dome almost like a moat??
