MemberOvomorphMar-07-2012 7:15 AMAs promised, I copied the Film AVP to my External PC drive {G:, LOL} and Ran it through my 47" LG LCD using VLC media Player and hit the snapshot button three times in your honour "Snorky"...LOL...and in the film it looks even more pronounced in one shot...with a black circular shiny membrane around each orange eye.

MemberTrilobiteMar-07-2012 7:33 AMAs I said in the other thread, it is a reflection of the flames in the queens chamber caught on the Aliens Gridded dome, they are not eyes Sparky.

MemberOvomorphMar-07-2012 7:38 AMgo watch the film again, I disagree completely. and I knew you would say that...I thought that it was that at first but after much closer examiniation it is not IMO, they made it with eyes.

MemberOvomorphMar-07-2012 8:10 AMOk, if you watch the film again Snorky it sure a sheck does not look that way, I can accept you sticking to yourt guns and maybe it was unintentional but watch that sequence again, they are for the sake of that shot, clearly eyes, and they are orange, I did not have some acid trip and make this up, I took the snaops for a reason, just look at that pic man, that ain't no refelection there. And even if it were, why are you still hangin' on to this idea that mostly everythng in that film is fine for a Ridley's Xenomorph type universe? I still say no WAY is any of it "CANON" {& G-d I hate that word}

MemberOvomorphMar-07-2012 8:35 AMHey Sparty,
Do you see eyes at other points in the film on this alien? Isn't this the prosthetic that was for sale awhile back... the one with the net impressions?

Ender
MemberOvomorphMar-07-2012 8:38 AMI'm feeling strange to find myself agreeing with ol' Snork.... but tbh Spartacus I dont think they're eyes. And if they are, they are stupid looking eyes.
But imo the only person that can label Aliens material canon is Ridley and we all know how he feel about AVP

Spartacus
MemberOvomorphMar-07-2012 8:39 AMThat's my whole point, that the whole thing is "stupid looking"

Hey Sparty,

The answer is No and then Yes. I did not see eys in the film at ther points and also I think it IS the prosthetic that was for sale a while back...the one with the net impressions, that's exactly what went through my mind when I first noticed this particular Xeno.
Anyways Snorky is a real good sport for playing along and humouring me, and this was all started BY ME because I REFUSE to accept that anything in AVP could ever be accepted as "CANON", that is, part of the same universe as Ridley's ALIEN. I also said the timeline could not work and Snorky Proved to me WRONG again in that it could. I even proved that to myself when I made this thread...But I would never accept it.
Have to Give Kudos to Snorky for his infinite patience wiht me on this one. I still say
"He only has Orange Eyes for you though, Snorky" "er..me I guess"...LMAO...

MemberTrilobiteMar-07-2012 10:48 AMCheck the whole scene sparky and you will notice that all the aliens have a red/orange highlight, which is meant to be the reflected light of the fire in the Queens Chamber. Also look at the pictures you posted, the same orange highlights that you are thinking are eyes are of the same colour as the highlights on the Grid Alien's chin.
Therefore no eyes, and remember the suits they used and the CGI Aliens (as in this shot) were based off the Aliens from Alien Rez, to save money.

Spartacus
MemberOvomorphMar-07-2012 10:54 AMOk lets go with you being correct, even though I say they played with the CGI work deliberatly to make it seem like that particukar alien had orange eyes...the entire thing, that film, and the one after, the disgrace that it is that came after it, really seem like nothing more to me than the stumbing rumbling and angry bumblings of a company, FOX, that did not give one bit of respect to Ridley Scott in all of this. And the first one IMO, I am sorry, but it ruins any chance of the "AA" thoery being examined properly and with class & credibility in this thing by Scott.

Gavin
MemberTrilobiteMar-07-2012 11:01 AMThat is because you are think of the whole AA element as a one way road, if you have watched any of the Ancient Aliens series (whole episodes available on youtube), which I believe you have Sparky, then you should know that there are many, many AA theories and what is shown in AVP is but one of them, that the Preds taught us ancient technology and society. That although being an element of AA fails in comparison to the AA element allegedly being proposed for Prometheus, where the SJ's are our creators.

Spartacus
MemberOvomorphMar-07-2012 11:15 AMOk Snorky, No Offense, but I own and have watched every single episode several times, I also consider myself quite the officionado when it comes to the entire subject of UFO's which is how the entire "Chariot" book came to be to begin with...and I understand the theorys properly and that FILM AVP RUINED ANY CHANCE OF RIDLEY EXPLORING THAT THEORY PROPERLY OR HE IS GOING TO ADDRESS IT DIRECTLY AND MAKE FOX, THE ENTRE COMPANY LOOK LIKE A BUNCH OF FOOLS FOR RELEASING THAT FILM WITHOUT HIS INPUT AND DIRECTLY OPPOSSED TO HIS STATED WISHES FOR THE FRANCHISE. PERIOD. and seriously just the fact they Put a Pyramid in it is DISGUSTING and why you refuse to see this I am never going to understand. Again, I humbly agree to disagree COMPLETELY with your stance on almost ALL of this. I've done my homework, sorry if that is something you can't stomach. The Fact that any other film ever came out showing an Alien Culture messing with Mankinds culture, let alone AVP, one which does it quite happhazzardly IMO is enough for me, and also letting alone it was FOX that did it and they put a XENO{s} in it...a dispicable move on the part of those suits involved in that decision knowing full well what Ridley had in mind originally for ALIEN...knowing that alone.

MemberOvomorphMar-07-2012 11:26 AMYou can tell when Sparty's pissed... he starts missing keys. ; P

Gavin
MemberTrilobiteMar-07-2012 11:39 AMNo offense taken... I was using it as reference...
I will try and guide you through this step by step. First of all look at all the various AA theories...
1. Some claim we are the descendants of the AA's, yes!
2. Some claim the AA's taught us to build pyramids and how to live in a society, yes!
3. Some claim the AA's made us, or affected our evolution, yes!
4. Some claim the AA's bred us to do their bidding, yes!
Of course there are other AA theories but these four will do for now, are you following me thus far Sparky. I'll assume so and continue...
Now which of the four would you consider the most "world changing" if it turned out to be true... That we were made by AA's and are not of this world. The ramifications are mind boggling and if it became public knowledge in a time of deep space travel no-one would feel obliged to stay on Earth, it would shake the very foundation of our identity. This is Prometheus.
Following so far...
Now instead imagine we discovered that AA's had taught us how to build the pyramids in Giza, and that they also taught us the ways of society and civil order. What effect would that have on the human condition - Barely any. Yes we would know we are not alone and that someone out there is looking out for us, but would it shake the foundation of our identity, would we no longer view Earth as our home. No we would not. This is AVP.
These two theories can stand alongside each other... maybe the predators were unaware that we were planted here, or maybe they did know and wanted to help us along because they had a relationship with the SJ's, or maybe they wanted to p**s off the SJ's by interfering with their creation...
Now do you follow, Sparky?

MemberOvomorphMar-07-2012 11:46 AMI love when you go off on one Sparty, and I'm certainly with you on the whole 'AvP' debacle. Talk about a wasted opportunity. These guys should have looked at any number of terrific 'Dark Horse' tie-ups instead for their storylines.
However, in the event that Ridley somehow comes up with something that CONTRADICTS the 'AvP' storylines onscreen, then I also have a couple of fan-edit 'cut-lists' mapped out to deal with that too, lol.
(Nicely summarised there by the way Snorkelbottom)

Spartacus
MemberOvomorphMar-07-2012 12:47 PMagreed, both of you...Snorky you know I love ya, I am just mad at FOX the more I think about and discect it and the more angry with them I am getting even now, all these years later. They watered down some of the credibility I believe for the entire subject matter.

Gavin
MemberTrilobiteMar-07-2012 12:56 PMof course they did sparky, thats what I've been saying all along the bare bones, the elements of AVP work, its just that the films they made don't...
AVP Elements - AA Teachers hunting the ultimate prey, and the very early beginnings of W-Y.
AVP Film - Action hero Preds battle monster Aliens amidst cardboard cut-out characters.
AVPR Elements - A revelation of the Queens maturing process, further insight into Predator society and the greed and monstrous side of humanity.
AVPR Film - A darkly shot teen slasher, that shows to much and ponders too little.

Spartacus
MemberOvomorphMar-07-2012 1:00 PMand ya know, that first film was actually well done and had some really really good ideas in it I thought, but the lack of respect for the Franchise itself really hurts my soul...I cannot express the feelings in my heart for the film ALIEN properly without losing it, and explaining what this film meant/means now still to the newer generation is getting more and more difficult for me...people just do not real get how special and extraordinary the film ALIEN truly was and I always though Fox would feel that way about it to, but they Didn't act as if they did and I cannot forgive or get past this, it seems born of GREED to me.

Gavin
MemberTrilobiteMar-07-2012 1:11 PMI agree wholeheartedly...
But the problem is Sparky you are directing your hulk like anger in the wrong direction. Fox held off on AVP for a long, long time. The reason the AVP films themselves failed to live up to the promise of the elements within is not FOX, nor the directors Paul W S Anderson and the Brothers Strausse. The problem lies with 3 individuals...
The same 3 that screwed over Fincher, the same 3 that let Alien Rez go ahead despite their dislike for it, and the same 3 that tried, in vain, to take credit for Dan O'Bannons work in the first place. Their names are Gordon Carroll, David Giler and Walter Hill AKA Brandywine productions, the vampires that have bled the franchise dry, a franchise that shouldn't even belong to thembut to the late, great Dan O'Bannon.

Spartacus
MemberOvomorphMar-07-2012 1:28 PMand they were there from day 1, they aught to be ashamed of themselves.

Gavin
MemberTrilobiteMar-07-2012 1:31 PMYeah right sparky, have you seen the way they act, they think they're untouchable

Spartacus
MemberOvomorphMar-07-2012 1:33 PMI rememeber watchng them all with Dan in the space ship on STARBEAST or whatever they called O'bannons' comic beach ball Alien version of the film and they all look so innocent and happy there, like they would never become suits themselves but sadly that's exactly what happened I guess.

Gavin
MemberTrilobiteMar-07-2012 1:39 PMDarkstar, I believe it was called.
IMO those 3 f**kwits should hand over, not sell, hand over the rights to Jon Landeau at FOX and pubicly apologize for they way the assr**ed Dan O'Bannon.

And in relation to the 3 vampires, I completely agree. Those 3 make me sick to my stomach with their "Oh but it was OUR idea the whole time." Absolute bullshit and they ought to be ashamed of themselves. Hacks, they are.
