MemberOvomorphMar-15-2012 1:37 PMFirst time I have ever "posted" on the interweb! I trust I have the nomenclature correct for this...
Anyways...
A. So excited about this film I am compelled to join in the fascinating discussions, and
B. doesn't the xenomorph, following gestation in a host, take partial resemblance from that host? So...
C. By that very definition, shouldn't the SJ derived alien (i.e. the one from the stomach of the sj on LV 426 in the original alien film) be about 13feet tall (circa 4 metres)?
Over to you guys - I reckon I have at least a semblance of a point
Cheers!

MemberOvomorphMar-15-2012 2:14 PMWelcome RoadRunner...& a Great 1st post... and here are my thougths on your point. We cannot be sure in any way...simply because what we know, that is what we know 100% definitvely is that something, in all likeliehood some sort of FACEHUGGER, burst from his chest. logically what your saying seems completely rational and more than likely accurate, but the simple fact is we have no way to be sure yet the possibility exists that we will find out in Prometheus.

MemberOvomorphMar-15-2012 2:23 PM@ rr14. You have a great point...but one of the reasons why we are going through all these possibilities on the forum is because we just don't know.
Suppose this movie is the first of two, than the crashing SJ ship in the trailer and the chest burster that killed the SJ in alien may not be related. So there is always a possibility that we do not see an alien born from an SJ...
Personally, I think that the crashing SJ ship in the trailer IS the one found on lv426 and I personally think that the big alien Ridley spoke of is the one who killed the SJ from alien, but so many can argue that my opinion is unfounded...and they would be right.
Oh and to directly answer your point, yes I think that the alien takes on traits of it's host and therefor if birthed from an SJ it would be big like you say...and smart and hard to kill...just the way we like our xenos
ALL generalizations are WRONG!

MemberOvomorphMar-15-2012 2:34 PM@ nrifetmefan "hard to kill...just the way we like our xenos" We, as in viewers not the Prometheus crew, right? Lol.

Did you mean to say that it would be a 'FACEHUGGER' errupting from the SJ? As far as we know, they only come from eggiwegs, right?

MemberOvomorphMar-15-2012 3:13 PMMy God man, first ever post on the internet? You have no idea what you're in for. Internet forums are, by and large, cruel and nasty places. You picked well though, this is as about as civil a forum as you will find anywhere. Welcome.
As for your question...a lot of people have speculated over the years as to what a SJ derived xeno would look like. I would love to see that. And this would seem to be the movie where we might get a chance.
That being said, Ridley Scott has indicated that this might not happen. He has said that we won't see any xenomorphs in this film, and that this is a very different story. So it looks like we won't be seeing a SJ xeno, unfortunately. But you never know, he might have just meant that we won't see the classic xeno we're used to...whatever would come out of a Jockey would, in all likelihood, look very different after all.

MemberOvomorphMar-15-2012 3:22 PMI am so sorry Oragiclife but thats NOT correct...what Ridley said was their will be "NO XENOMORPHS IN THE FORM YOU ARE USED TO SEEING THEM IN" and that "THE VERSION OF THAT CREATURE YOU ARE GOING TO SEE WILL BE MUCH MUCH LARGER"

MemberOvomorphMar-15-2012 3:36 PMThe Space Jockey/Engineers are suppose to be humanoid under there so called biomech suits in which case wouldn't that make the Xeno quite similar in appearance to Kane's with the exception of its size of course ,oh the possibilities I cant wait.

MemberOvomorphMar-15-2012 9:29 PMWelcome to the interwebs Roadrunner14 !
You may want to count the number of times the word 'creature' is used in the IMDB Cast & Crew listing... going by that it looks like the 'creatures' will be quite large...
If I even see a post with 'creatures revealed' in the title, I'm hitting the little button that dims the interwebs...

MemberOvomorphMar-16-2012 3:32 AMI think there has to be a big bad monster in this that scares us so... I hoping for this scenario...
Actually I looking forward to the momment it bursts out of the SJ Chair... I think what ever happens it's going to be climactic... The SJ is obviously trying to do somthing on the ship before it smashes it's way out of it's body.... I think theres going to be a bit of a race against time and then this thing rears it big ugly head and stuff starts going pretty badly.
Although it may not be in... Like Ridley said last 8 minutes woo hoo!
