MemberOvomorphMar-16-2012 9:55 AM... New to the forum , but an ardent fan ... One thing I can say is that we will be left with many unanswered questions and no doubt and amount of head scratching ... The early blurb hints to this .. And nothing has changed ... With Lindorffs writing on top of everything else ... Sure.y this is the least to consider , especially after LOST ...
This is about Mythology , the Gods and who we are ... The fact that it is in our story ark , albeit , at an earlier time ... Will no doubt change nothing and only point to a re-birth ... As Abrahms Star Trek introduced a whole new time stream ... It is still Star Trek , but it is simply a modern way to enter the story and not re-hash the old themes ... I suggest that Scott will try something similar ... But it will be impressive , not just to please the studio, but it will please the masses ... And I have no doubt ... It will please us the fans ...
Cannot wait ... Roll on ... P R O M E T H E U S

MemberOvomorphMar-16-2012 1:14 PMI agree violently. This film will not answer any questions at all - just create more of them. You are not going to have an exposition scene where the crew and the aliens sit around a table and explain everything. There will no zero intelligible interaction between the aliens and the humans and we are all going to leave the theater wondering what the fuck just happened. That's what I hope, anyway.

MemberOvomorphMar-16-2012 2:36 PMRight on guys.
See the "God" thread developing nicely along similar lines of thought I think.

MemberOvomorphMar-16-2012 2:53 PMWhat was great about Lost, and what's intriguing about Lindelof being a part of this movie, is that whenever answers were given on Lost, many more questions were presented. So while I do believe that a lot of the questions of Alien will be answered, I think even more questions will be asked that will leave viewers wanting more.

MemberOvomorphMar-16-2012 2:59 PMI am sure he's written a superb plot for prometheus but I have to tell you, LOST, for me at least, was a pathetic sad complete unrealistically based drama that did nothing other than waste people's time, and it's ending IMO was absolutely rediculous...that i thought it was in the end one of if not the worst long running shows in the history of t.v.

MemberOvomorphMar-16-2012 3:45 PMAs soon as I found that Ridley Scott was to write a PREQUEL to Alien I could not wait to see the result. But then I found out that Damon " I know what's going on - you don't - ha ha ha" Lindelhof had got involved, I feared the worst. If any of the LOST type writing is introduced, then this will be a hard thing to swallow for any Alien fans on here (= everyone!). To finally have answers as towards the origin of the space jockeys and xenomorph and how/why it was created should be the very essence of this movie, but after so long it maybe would not make sense to anyone new to the "Alien world", thus a possible dilution of this storyline to make a more general sci-fi film to appeal to more movie go-ers. After over 30 years of stories/speculation regarding the Alien mythology it would be a fine reward of patience for the sci-fi fans here to get a complete picture of the universe in which it is set. Here's hoping...

MemberOvomorphMar-16-2012 4:02 PMI've had concerns that the same handfull of writers seem to have their hand in so much of the scifi product (another word I hate) that's out there now. BattleStar, Trek, and now our beloved ALIEN franchise. We can only hope for originality. Where are the new Gigers?
Happy St. Pat's ppl!
