Didn't see a topic with that. But alot are talking about the possibility of a Facehugger, watching the international or offical (american) trailer. But in the Imax trailer, you got more pictures of it, and one is particulary interesting: Even if I don't think they will be a "classical xeno or facehugger" in the movie, this is kind of obvious. Thoughts?

Well, for the scene you're quoting, it's in the Official trailer; there is 3 trailer: the international, the official (american one) and the Imax one. However, in the scene you are quoting, it's a kind of chest buster yeah, but not a "classical one". It seems different in some way.

It's got four tentacles. It's sort of reminds me of...

This is not a Chestburster, a Facehugger or a Xeno.....basically this is a squid as u can see in some other post. The shape is obviously a squid. We still don't know how she have it in her belly and why there is an umbelical cord..... The more interesting theory (in my opinion) is about a proto egg (if u place the squid vertically with tentacle on the floor). The shape is very similar and it connect with the alien life cycle depicted in a Giger draw. The egg is coming directly from a woman belly. For shure this thing have nothing to do with a chestburster or a xeno or a facehugger. Nothing.

What I've seen so far appears to me to be Shaw having some kind of a c-section to remove a squid-like thing which is then dangled over her (there are clues on the Weyland site about fully automated medbays - maybe the Prometheus medbay *thought* she was having a baby and just decided to "show" her what it pulled out of her the way med staff typically does when a woman gives birth). How she became "impregnated" is another thing, but i doubt it will be in classic ALIEN fashion. Personally, I'm tired of Xeno's and facehuggers/chestbursters and all that. *I* would like to see something totally new that explores the further potential of biological horror inherent in Giger's work, and I have the feeling that that is essentially what Scott is aiming for with this film.

The Squid/Facehugger has the umbelical cord attached because it is using Shaw as its mother and recieveing nutrients to grow just like a human child. Holloway gets infected and he impregnates her while he is still "human" resulting in her DNA and the alien dna being mixed into her alien offspring OR she is already pregnant and the now ALIEN DNA from holloway mutates and infects the fetus maybe it even consumes it to grow rapidly. perhaps?

Great observation about the automated med bay. Maybe she had the thing aborted! Either way the thought of the robot giving her a congrats on her alien baby is creepy and fantastic!

You know, I hadn't thought about it, but the whatever baby Shaw has, it could explain some of her later actions in the film if it is aborted, or surgically removed and taken away from her for study. That would NOT jive with her Catholic faith, that they have seemed to emphasize in her character. Also, as a deeply religious person, David would have quite a time understanding it and not seeing Shaw as herself being 'programmed.' With no free will herself.
