MemberOvomorphMar-20-2012 11:25 PMLooking at the size of the SJ in Alien and then again in the trailer isn't this dude the Space Jockey before he enters this "machine"?
The size of the humans in the Alien picture are half the size of the SJ so this dude in the Trailer must be huge.

MemberOvomorphMar-21-2012 12:00 AMWell, looking at the pics humans are maybe half to a third the size.

MemberOvomorphMar-21-2012 12:04 AMWell he could be the SJ or maybe not. But to me, and I maybe wrong but to me, the shot of the SJ suit opening up in the chair, to me, it looks smaller than in Alien. Maybe that is just because there really is nothing to compair it to but it looks small.

MemberOvomorphMar-21-2012 12:17 AMHe certainly looks like he would fit in the chair of that contraption. He definately activates it and walks toward it.

MemberOvomorphMar-21-2012 12:20 AMthe space jockey suit size is quite smaller in prometheus. but in the first picture you posted Mr. Ridley wanted to show a real size difference with the characters & the jockey, so those are actually a couple of kids in that shot wearing the suits walking up to it. but then we see the actual actors (dallas, lambert, kane) next to the jockey. so Ridley did that to make the Jockey look EVEN bigger. but even when dallas is next to the jockey it still looks much bigger than him. so we have seen 2 different space jockey suits from the movie, the one in the trailer when we see the suit transforming, that is smaller plus the arms are shorter. but if you look at the picture with noomi repace standing in a hallway with the 2 space jockey statues, they look MUCH taller and their arms are much longer.

MemberOvomorphMar-21-2012 12:23 AMCool. Those 2 suits look about the size of the dude in the pics above. I'm convinced he's it.

MemberOvomorphMar-21-2012 12:46 AMI've been stating for a long time now that the scale of the SJ based on David being in the orrery(how ever it's spelled) is way too small compared to the SJ in ALIEN.
I think the smaller scale is part of the "this is a different universe, but similar DNA" concept. At the end of the Wondercon trailer, you will see a normal size bio-mech leg in what seems to be a confrontation between Shaw and a SJ. It may be a crew member who become a bio-mech, but the scale is definitely no 3x human.
I think we have to rethink a lot of our notions about the classic fossilized SJ.

MemberOvomorphMar-21-2012 12:50 AM@ReeceMacoy, you know, how many "SJ" are there on the alien ship? Theres at least 2, maybe 4 suits there. If you where the only "alien" or "blue guy", on board, why would there be so many suits? Could there be more "blue guys" on board in their capsules?

MemberOvomorphMar-21-2012 1:19 AMIt could be a size change in the SJ suit from the film directors side, to adapt to the new story.
If u look at the last picture here u can see something that maybe resembles cryo tubes for the SJ, this is also seen in the star chamber. In the trailer the crew finds a seemingly uninhabited place but at some piont I think they wake the SJ up from cryo.

Kane77
MemberOvomorphMar-21-2012 5:21 AMwe can clearly see in the pics above the chamber with the SJ and the seat is coming up, that its a different room from alien. I think its on another planet, where they find the temple. I
So the size maybe explainable when its a different timeline than alien, so these SJ are smaller.

MemberOvomorphMar-21-2012 6:25 AMi thought it was odd that in ALIEN the space jockeys "trunk" was connected to its chest/ribcage but in the new trailer looks like the trunk/nose looking thing on its face is a couple inches short of the chest area and is not connected.
also wondering if it wasnt connected because it appears the suit is opening up and coming off anyway and the trunk already detatched? these new scenes just made me have MORE questions lol.
waiting for this movie is driving me nuts, i probably wont have any hair left buy the time i get to go see it.

MemberOvomorphMar-21-2012 6:50 AMThere's an obvious size difference between the old space jockey and the new one. I'm starting to think maybe the "blue guy" is not actually a space jockey, but rather a mutated crewmember.

MemberOvomorphMar-21-2012 6:55 AMwow that is a big difference.... arms are much shorter and hes much smaller in the chair in the second pic. i like the way the old dead one looks much better :/

MemberOvomorphMar-21-2012 8:31 AMyeah, and thats some of the plot irregularities IMO..
the size..
the fossilisation..
hmm

MemberOvomorphMar-21-2012 9:25 AMAll this talk of SJ size is beside the point. If you remember, the first still images from Prometheus show a SJ suit with the helmet removed, and it is enormous compared to the humans who are looking at it. There are obvious differences in the chair from Alien and the one we've seen for Prometheus, so it stands to reason this is not the same SJ.
If it is supposed to be the same one, then some major details were missed- intentionally or not. Only time will tell.

MemberOvomorphMar-21-2012 9:29 AMI don't think we've been shown the entire biomechanical morphing, that the SJ gets, in regards to being sealed to the chair.
Some have therorized that the SJ would be 13 feet tall, if he could stand up. But this "blue guy", could easily be around 8-9 feet tall alreadly, and when completely sealed into the chair, his width, girth, and certain elongations (due to the morphing with the chair) would give the illusion of someone who is 13 feet tall.
Besdies, we've never seen the SJ's lower body (hip & legs) anyway.

MemberOvomorphMar-21-2012 10:12 AMThe shot in the trailer of the SJ ribs opening up could have been reversed as a form of misdirection just for the trailer. This shot is only a few frames long after all. Ridley Scott uses relatively simple camera tricks sometimes. (Ex: Drips moving upward on Kanes egg in ALEIN.)
Simple explanation: Someone hops into the chair. The chair deploys a suit which envelops the occupant. The chair continues to grow over time surrounding the occupant even more, making what we're calling the suit appear even larger over time.
Plus, I agree with whomever said not to fret too much the exact size of the SJ, since kids were used in more than one scene to make landing gear look larger. And the apparent size of the landing gear in ALIEN varried depending on the scene. (Ex: Kids in spacesuits outside the ship; Brett being grabbed in NOSTROMO's landing gear bay; and Ripley finding Dallas and whats left of Brett attached to landing gear in Director's cut.

MemberOvomorphMar-21-2012 3:28 PMremember that they only found the "captain" of the SJ crew in Alien 1979. Maybe the "captain SJ" is bigger than the other Jockeys, thats why the difference. I think it isn't the "captain SJ" in prometheus :) Just look at animals, or even at us, humans. The parents, or "captains" of crews are always bigger/stronger than the normal sized members. :) What do you think?

MemberOvomorphMar-21-2012 5:16 PMIn the trailer the smaller blue jockey's ribs rise and fall , so maybe there will be another chest burster scene. But there doesn't appear to be the telescope thingy in his face so, he may have a different skill set then the original.
