MemberOvomorphMar-23-2012 9:49 PMYou've actually asked two different questions. I think Prometheus deserves it. Once the marketing starts for The Dark Knight Rises I think that will get the most audience.

MemberOvomorphMar-23-2012 9:50 PMPrometheus, then The Hobbit. The rest look OK. (Yes, I have serious doubts about the new Batman.)
I may work for the company, but im really an OK guy.

MemberOvomorphMar-23-2012 9:51 PMPrometheus is a must see on my list, the others are a maybe. Right now not many people know about Prometheus. You either have to be an avid Alien fan or people enjoy watching movie trailers. I hope it does well. I want to see more movies within this universe and still have a great story to tell about.

MemberOvomorphMar-23-2012 9:51 PMThe dark knight rises and/or the hobbit. I think Prometheus didn't get enough attention from the general movie going audience. It's kinda the underdog summer blockbuster this year. Although I like the LOTR movies, I'm not going to see the hobbit in theaters because it's based on a book I have already read and I also doubt I'm going to see the dark knight rises because it's another sequel to a sequel. Prometheus is somewhat original, despite the obvious references to alien.
You don\\\'t see them fucking each other over for a goddamn percentage!

MemberOvomorphMar-23-2012 10:34 PM1 TDKR 2 Prometheus 3 Snow White & the Huntsman thats mine. You did not mention MIB3. AVENGERS has lost its appeal to me.

MemberOvomorphMar-23-2012 10:38 PMAll will be huge in their own way. I don't think Avengers or DKR will get many repeat viewings, but the masses will come to see them. Hobbit could be gigantic because it is a classic, and all generations know and love the LOTR movies. It will get lots of repeat viewings due to obsessed fans, less competition in the winter and enormous 3D receipts. My money is on Hobbit.
With that said...Prometheus will probably be an enduring classic that people will be talking about for years. The dark, edgy material and possible R rating will grab less initial money than the other movies on your list, but I expect crazy word of mouth, strong reviews, multiple viewings, and a long run. 3D will definitely give a huge boost to gross sales because Mr. Scott is a visionary and the images we have seen so far are going to blow our mind in 3D. Even people who don't like 3D may be persuaded to check it out.

MemberOvomorphMar-23-2012 11:27 PMNot a fan of Batman Begins, thought the whole thing was truly goofy, but was very suprised with TDK. Mainly because, to me, Aaron Es Dent and Ledger's Joker were the real central characters and there was less of Bale and his silly voice. This one seems to be a return to the style of the first one. I'll pass.
The Hobbit--Fully deserving. LOTR wasn't perfect but still excellent; love Bilbo so that is number one.
Prometheus--Number two. Sorry folks, but this one could be a prettified mash -up of Stargate episodes with Pandorum and every other chariot of the gods themed sci-fi. Actually it probably will be. Alien was was a mash-up of 50s B movies and was great so who knows? It can go either way.
The Avengers--Oh good God no. I'll stay home and watch The Dark Knight. Marvel movies have become big bloated and boring.
As for audiences, TDKR, The Avengers, Prometheus and The Hobbit (with the last doing most of its business in 2013 if the release date still holds)

MemberOvomorphMar-24-2012 12:06 AMGOOD grief, Charlie Brown!
May - The Avengers
June - Prometheus
July - The Dark Knight Rises
DEC - The Hobbit
What a great movie year, huh? I can't honestly see why any of the movies would "deserve" more hype than any other, but I can tell you this....I haven't been anywhere near as personally excited about a movie as I am right now about Prometheus since 1986. I was 11 years old and I went to go see ALIENS with my parents and I can remember sitting next to my dad - both happy to be there and absolutely terrified at the same time.
Movies don't draw me in like this very often but when I watch the full trailer and the "vocal siren" starts at 1:58 I get the chill over me that confirms I'm seeing the trailer for what will be my favorite movie this year. The other 3 however are all close 2nds. :)

MemberOvomorphMar-24-2012 12:17 AMGood Grief Charlie Brown, look at that list!
May - The Avengers
June - Prometheus
July - The Dark Knight Rises
Dec - The Hobbit
What a great movie year! I'm psyched to be a part of it and while I wouldn't say any of those movies "deserves" more hype than the other I can safely say that I haven't been anywhere near as excited about any movie as much as I am about Prometheus since 1986. I was 11 years old and going to see ALIENS with my parents and I can remember being equally happy/terrified about being there after seeing ALIEN with my dad a year or so earlier. I was on the edge of my seat by the end of the movie. Who wouldn't have been at 11 seeing THAT ? Kick %$& right?
Don't get me wrong, the other 3 movies are all close 2nd place but when I watch the full length trailer for Prometheus and the vocal siren kicks in at 1:58 I know I'm seeing the trailer for what will be my favorite movie of the year and longer because I can't shake the chill that comes over me.

MemberOvomorphMar-24-2012 12:24 AMI think Prometheus deserves all the hype because Alien is one of if not the best sic-fi movie of all time...a thinking mans movie. It definitely wont reach the hype of the others because it promises to be dark, disturbing, and hopefully a full blown R-rating. I don't want the Jersey Shore crowd in the audience. Elitist? Yes, but this movie is not going to be like everything we always see

MemberOvomorphMar-24-2012 12:44 AMAVENGERS & BATMAN sequel have built-in audience
THE HOBBIT is coming off a very successful LORD OF THE RINGS Trilogy
However PROMETHEUS is a movie based on the Alien series which kinda dies with ALIEN RESURRECTION in 1997. Nobody remembers the AVP movies. Yes, PROMEY needs to be hyped the most!
OT: I don't know how would PROMETHEUS get away with a PG13 surgery scene where a bloodied alien organism is extracted from a woman through C Section ?

shardy
MemberOvomorphMar-24-2012 1:48 AMas much as i'd love for PROMETHEUS to dominate this summers box office
i'd say that "The Dark Knight Rises" will most likely be in the general publics
consciousness. i think they are expecting for another great film like the one this
one is proceeding, but i find it unlikely that will happen since Heath Ledger
pretty much KILLED his role in "The Dark Knight"
and, Anne Hathaway's casting as "Catwoman" is a true head-scratcher to me
but, who knows..the film may do really great
as much as PROMETHEUS appears to be a sci-fi / horror film,
it also appears to be an intellectualists' film, and these days, the audience
for said film is a niche market / narrow margin at best
still, i am rooting for PROMETHEUS to usher in a new era of hardcore sci-fi
time will tell...

MemberOvomorphMar-24-2012 11:28 AMYou must be kidding. Prometheus of course will be my personal #1. But I'm not really sure about the general audiences, because almost every person I know and people on the internet seem to be crazy about the new Batman film. I did like The Dark Knight (and another Nolan films), when I saw it by myself, but I don't really think it deserves all that hype, especially when they have Anne Hathaway in cast of the new one (I don't find her very much talented, but maybe that's my bad). Also, people like "mindfucking" type of movies, remember Inception, for example. So one of the reasons people wait for Nolan movies is that he creates some sort of "pseudo-intelectual" movies. It ain't so super mindfucking or intelectual, but when general people watch it, they like to pretend that they're smart or something.
I'm not sure if I'm going to watch The Avengers (maybe), but The Hobbit catches my eye just because I read the book when I was a child. Memories, you know.

MemberOvomorphMar-24-2012 3:40 PMI think Prometheus deserves the most hype. But I think The Dark Knight Rises and The Hobbit will dominate the box office. Like CROSSGENETX and EGR 101 said, I think this will appeal more to the avid ALIEN fans, science-fiction lovers, elitists, and adults.
Prometheus to the general public is still not GREATLY known. I've showed many of my friends the trailer and even my family and they all seem to love it very much. My Dad thought it was just going to be a cheap ALIEN movie since he's a big fan of the first ALIEN but I proved him wrong with the Prometheus trailer lol. Which was nice.
Prometheus deserves the most hype because I believe it shows the most originality. We've all seen Super heroes before and we've all seen The Lord of the Rings. But Prometheus is just original. Its new and fresh and brings something never before seen in a great long time. I mean its been 15 years since we've had an Alien treatment. This will definetally be something new for all those younger generations who love science fiction and aren't familiar with the ALIEN franchise.
