MemberOvomorphMar-25-2012 11:13 AMI don't see his name in the credits in the trailers, but hopefully he'll be given proper prominence in the film's credits. The whole series would be unimaginable without his contribution.

MemberOvomorphMar-25-2012 11:24 AMreally Giger should have a credit at the front of the film... in the last 3 films his credit is only on the end crawl, and some of the later films even credited "creature designs" to others

MemberOvomorphMar-25-2012 11:57 AMI heard Giger assisted with concepts and set design for this film. Am I wrong?

MemberOvomorphMar-25-2012 12:13 PMApparently Giger created some of the murals for Prometheus.
One thing I have noticed is that his name is not anywhere listed on the IMDb full list of credits. I wonder why.

A subtle but very different concept... You can see it throughout the whole production..

MemberOvomorphMar-25-2012 2:47 PMI hate to be too critical at this point (the film is still in post-production), but I think the "Derelict" sets so far have been looking kinda plastic. I'm not too keen on the new Space Jockey "chair" re-design either. A lot of the details look kinda clumsy and not nearly as elegant as the original Giger sets. Back then he basically went in and did the whole thing himself, because he felt no one else could get it right. Sucks that he's too old for that kinda work now. Still, I have seen far worse.

MemberOvomorphMar-25-2012 3:03 PMCheck the clumsy lines (marked with red) and compare it too Giger's original Bellmer'esque lines. That's a world of difference to the educated design-nerd.

MemberOvomorphMar-25-2012 3:23 PMOne other aspect of the original SJ vs the "new" SJ's of Prometheus is the obvious size difference. Taking into account that Scott used children as doubles in Alien, we were meant to see the original SJ exo-skeleton as somewhere in the neighborhood of a 15-foot tall creature (perhaps even a foot or two taller). The brief views of the Prometheus SJ exoskeletons/suits make it look to be more of a 9 or 10-foot tall creature. (I am referring to the promotional pic of Liz Shaw standing in the foreground with the two SJ suits or statues standing side-by-side in the background.)

MemberOvomorphMar-25-2012 3:43 PMYep. In regards to the size difference I think what we see in the picture is a human (or Cyborg) wearing a Space Jockey suit. The actual size of the "chair" looks like it's the same.
