MemberOvomorphMar-25-2012 8:25 PMPOTENTIAL SPOILERS!!!!
I'd like to hear your thoughts on the leaked script now that we have so many trailers and TV spots to go over frame by frame. I've read the script and I can't shake the thought that a lot of stuff in there is pretty spot on with stuff in the trailers.
I was just going over it again today and I ran across the scene where David goes into the derelict and sees organic sarcophaguses on the floor, walls and ceiling and wouldn't you know it, the IMAX trailer shows just that!
I'm sure some stuff has changed in the actual filming from the script but there is just SO MUCH stuff in there that is in the trailers. This leaked script came out a few days before the official trailer did and I can't beleive that someone would make up this much detail prior to the big trailers and be so accurate.
Honestly, I don't care that it has spelling errors. To me that doesn't mean a thing when then details are all there.
One thing that popped out at me today as I was re reading it. In some dialog the word "favor" is spelled "favour". At first I thought that was odd since Lindelof is Amerian but in the interview with Kevin Pollak Lindelof mentions he worked with Ridley 3 days a week for weeks on the script. It came to mind that the spelling wouldn't be out of place if Ridley wrote it since he's British.
The plot thickens...

MemberOvomorphMar-25-2012 8:55 PMThat script is nothing but a mash-up of trailer reveals from the teaser and wild fan speculation......There are a lot of examples in the new trailers, including the cave painting and subsequent archeological explanation for the expedition THAT ARE NOT IN THE LEAKED SCRIPT......and that script does not cover the vast majority of reveals in the new trailers, like the alien dude by the waterfall, the escape pod, Shaw looking up at the MOVING ceiling in the ampule chamber by the giant monolithic head and saying, "Prometheus....are you seeing this?".
This leaked script is such a ridiculously poor fake based on that alone and any number of other examples I chose not to mention.....but also the poorly written nature of its ineptitude...the spelling is atrocious, no real script has "We open on total darkness. STUDIO AND PRODUCTION COMPANIES CREDITS" (I mean come on...really?), and there is no way Idris Elba as JANEK "jumps with a fright." because of a simple comment from Vickers....that last point's a subjectve assessment, but I think I proved my point.

MemberOvomorphMar-25-2012 9:06 PMWasn't there something in that script that described a small Weyland "fingerprint" on the David android? And didn't that script come out before that picture of the Weyland fingerprint was ever made known to us?

craigamore
MemberOvomorphMar-25-2012 9:17 PMActually...No...the fingerprint pic was released on the Weyland site as the link pic for Module B as stated in the following article posted on this site, dated Mar-05-2012 10:46 PM..............Weyland Industries Website Updates With New Information!
"The Weyland logo now features a broad navigation panel when you hover over it - showing some features that are "locked" and will be revealed soon. Our members have pointed out one in particular named "Module B"."
The leaked script article....Prometheus Script Leaked? UPDATED.....was posted Mar-11-2012 10:37 PM.
The info was out there to be had and even if the leaked script had come first that still wouldn't explain the m,ountain of other discrepancies I mentioned earlier.

MemberOvomorphMar-25-2012 9:24 PMExactly Cypher...the whole things just so...awful....Admittedly, when we had nothing, it was intriguing, but that became an obvious fake VERY quickly there after.

MemberOvomorphMar-25-2012 9:28 PMAfter reading the script anyone who thought for a second Ridley would have read it and immediately not have slapped the writer to death with it is crazy IMO

MemberOvomorphMar-25-2012 11:44 PMIn the scripts I couldn't find any text similar to things like "A king has his reign," "And then he dies," "It's inevitable," "Take us home," or any of those things we heard in the trailer. I'm sure these leaked scripts are false......but then again, trailers have a tendency to use dialogue that won't be heard in the full movie (strategic false advertisement is what I call it).

MemberOvomorphMar-26-2012 4:20 AMYou can dissect every "leaked script" and you will not find any kind of tie with trailers ... absolutely nothing ( that was not already known ) is present ....

MemberOvomorphMar-26-2012 11:50 AMWeyland doesn't have a role in the script, right? The movie trailers indicate that he may be an integral player in the plot, though.

MemberOvomorphMar-26-2012 12:25 PMAt univeristy, I wrote a paper about Ridley Scott, his work and his narration techniques. I am positively sure he would never ever use this script for a movie. Why? Because he would never do a movie, in which he 1. constantly copies from his own movie (Alien), 2. use clichee elements we have seen a 1000 times before. That script consists of nothing else than that. Unsuspecting mechanic attacked by monster in the cargo bay. Human turns out to be a robot and tool of an unfriendly company. Female white protagonist running away from the monster through a scary corridor with a flamethrower. All motifs from Alien. For a change: running over a monster with a vehicle is stolen from AlienS. RS thinks of himself as an innovator, like James Cameron. He would rather cancel the movie than use this script. Or he's not the RS I wrote a paper about.

Despite promising myself I wouldn’t read the so called ‘leaked script’ I gave it a go yesterday.
I thought the story sucked and hope it’s fake. With the quality of writing and spelling mistakes we can live in hope.
What I didn’t like about it was the story was over it was complicated, a little like Alien 4. Over complicated but at the same time it wasn’t really going anywhere. There were some stupid bits as well. For example, 5 minutes after the ship has landed on the planet, half the crew are in near munity because they want to go home. Honestly, the ships skids have just touched the ground and they want to leave. 5 years in deep sleep and the archaeologist wants to go home without even having the chance to explore an alien civilisation? I don’t think so.
The SJ gets annoyed because one of the crew takes a sample. Please, if you travelled to another planet and it appeared to be empty you would take a sample to examine, surely an intelligent species would understand that. Instead the response of, oh you stole a sample so I am going to wipe out your entire specie and every living thing on your planet is a bit over kill. A bird just took a twig from my garden to build a nest. I am going to kill every member of the avian species in revenge.
If the SJs created mankind as is alluded to in the story and by RS then the wiping us out aspect has to be more than just taking a sample to examine. For a species to go to trouble to create us (and others) and leave clues on where to find them to want to destroy us so casually doesn’t make any sense. Why create a species if your only goal is to wipe them out?
The SJs are bio engineers who are engaged in terraforming the planet. They discovered indigenous life and tried splicing their genes with it and inadvertently created the Xeno. That puts the Xeno race as just a handful of years old. I really, really, really hate that idea. The SJ that crashed on LV426 was taking the results of the gene splicing away for examination and crashed on a neighbouring moon. That would mean that the Xeno only existed on one planet and that planet was nuked by Ripley so effectively ending the Xeno race.
One of the crew gets impregnated (with wires and stuff ((yes really))) and then sent back to the ship. That single (pointless) act seems to be the crux of the movie. The SJ must have known the baby would be aborted. Why let her go. If they are so obsessed with gene splicing why plant a baby and send her on her way with nothing but their best wishes and the promises of we are going to wipe out your species before you have the baby anyway. Surely they would be interested in the results and would have kept her.
Why does a race like the SJ who are supposedly advanced live and work in dark, dirty conditions. Don’t advanced aliens have light bulbs?
While I am on my moan box. The telepathy aspect sucked too. Sending a message to tell 1 person on the crew that they are going to wipe out earth and everyone so readily believing her was a bit stupid. The whole plot was stupid. I hope its fake.
