MemberOvomorphMar-26-2012 6:40 PMAnyone else notice that "Muth-r" mode datastream on the movie mentions that LV-426 was given the name "Acheron" by James Cameron (ugh...I don't want to EVER see his name on this site again), when it was CLEARLY shown on the computer screen when the crew first finds the derelict craft upon receiving the distress call? (In front of Lambert)
I just hate Cameron's name being associated with anything that is involved with the "Real" Alien...

MemberOvomorphMar-26-2012 7:12 PMYes invader is right ... we really dont need a flame war Alien vs Aliens ....Not here !!

thanks frantz :D yeah, its okay to have discussions about alien vs aliens but just discussion, no fighting, there should never be any pure hate against anything alien on this site........................ unless its alien resurrection lol

MemberOvomorphMar-26-2012 7:16 PMThis thread wasn't started about any particular "hate"..(maybe)...just the "wrongness" of the "Acheron" attribution in the notes of the original movie in Muth-r mode. Ignore what you don't like about the post, and move on...it's simple.

MemberOvomorphMar-26-2012 7:38 PMSorry mate but Aliens is 1of the few films that is better than the original so a bit of respect to JC. Don't get me wrong Alien was a top film and yes JC added all his bits to it but Aliens rocked and i bet if you asked any film goers to name better sequels, Aliens would be right up there.
lol just googled it and 1st is

MemberOvomorphMar-26-2012 7:50 PMI really don't understand this attitude about Alien and Ridley Scott being the all knowing, all great one and it's his baby, after all he was just the director, he didn't own the rights to the movie, I believe that was Fox and still is. Don't get me wrong, I loved his movie, but I also loved James Cameron's movie Aliens as well and I even liked some parts of the other movies, why is that bad? As I said, it's really Fox's franchise and if they see fit to do the series a certain way, then they can do what they want, it's not up to Ridley Scott, he was only a part of the original anyway, he didn't do the whole movie by himself.

MemberOvomorphMar-26-2012 8:13 PMnot just a director he storyboarded the whole film increasing the budget from 2.4 to 4.8 million a first for those days and he over saw every department and did the effects shots himself as well as film them he was cameraman on that film to.
He approved the giger designs shown to him by dan o bannon and hired giger directly after much persuasion .
Yes its fair to say he had a great Collaboration with some highly talented people but even they have the temerity to say ridley was the driving force on that film.
One of ridleys strengths is getting the best from his crews, like any good manager he can motivate and share his ideas which are infectious on a film like that. Hes films have a very distinct look to them and thats down to his viewpoint as all his films have different writers, and personnel attached to them yet a ridley film is as distinguishable as a spielberg, or a cameron, or a scorcese, film even coppola, has a style heck so does bay for that matter lol.
As Charlize Theron said she always wanted to work with ridley and so many actors/Actress have pointed out the differences between a great director and a average one is enormous. Its standard fare these days to compliment the films director but the great ones can never be written off and have made classics as opposed to the latest summer blockbuster that comes and goes.
Is there a director alive or dead that has made every single film he or she's connected to that is considered great by everyone i think not.

MemberOvomorphMar-26-2012 11:34 PMI also dislike Aliens. I'm not trying to bait anyone into an argument but if you'll let me I'll make my point:
Aliens turned the seemingly invincible monster from the first movie into a elephant/trumpet sounding 'BUG' that died from a "short controlled burst" rather too easily. I realise Cameron had to make is own mark and invent the Queen for the finale but I feel that this subtracted more of the mystery surrounding the creature and made up the term "drone" which makes the alien seem stupid and easy pickings for any-old grunt or... "dare I say it a Predator." The movie seems more of an American chest-beater for how great the armed forces are (even in the future) and if Gorman had been a better/more experienced leader they would have saved the colony with ease.
Anyway I go on and on about why I dislike Aliens so much and how there isn't one original idea in the whole movie -like how I saw a Powerloader in an episode of 'the champions' that looked exactly like Cameron's drawings.- (unless Cameron was the prop designer for that episode, which I doubt.) but I know alot of people luv Aliens, (and I was once one of them!) some even more then Alien and any bad word said about it brings about nothing but hatred, so I'll leave this with one final point: if Aliens is so great why isn't it in widescreen?

I agree, Alien was Ridley trying to be original and think out of the box, the whole team worked and Made a monster that was basically an unstoppable rapist with no morality. A creature that could not be understood, that had an agenda but was hidden in shadow and perverted the flesh of others into a twisted mutated breeding cycle of death and horror.
James Cameron made a movie about big Ants

MemberOvomorphMar-26-2012 11:59 PMWell I don't know that I agree with the rapist part...that implies sexual intent by the creature rather than psycological influense intended but yes.......'Alien' is a far better film on the merits than some give it credit for.....Interstellar ants this thing never should have become...that's for sure....cheesy

If you look at the making of Alien you will understand what I mean, its very much hinted that the Alien rapes Lambert before killing her, or at least puts his tail somewhere he probably didn't need too. The creature is fully sexual, its Phallic and Vaginal in one, you need to read HR Gigers Alien, his original concept of the alien was basically massive penises everywhere, the original "egg" opening was not a budding flower design but a Vagina that opens and a face hugger *Also a rapist* leaps out of.
They said they liked the idea of Oral rape because it was something both men and women can fear. Its all there, look it up

MemberOvomorphMar-27-2012 12:08 AMIf you want more proof the Alien is a sexual deviant, I drew this artist concept...I drew it...like a few months ago, but still !!!

MemberOvomorphMar-27-2012 12:14 AMIt is psychological, but there's no evidence of it being literal....that shot of the tail going through her legs was originally a shot of Brett's legs that was inserted by Scott and his editor for affect. What the tail actually does can be seen in this page from 'Heavy Metal's Illustrated ALIEN' comic published in 79' that used the original script as its guide.....

No rape in that my friend...just a sharp object through the back forcing its victim torwards its jaws....

MemberOvomorphMar-27-2012 2:16 AMI always though Lambert's death was a lot more nasty then anyone else in film history. I often wondered how intentional it was on behalf of Ridley that we got impression that she was being skewered. I mean you see a shot of the tail moving along the floor between her legs, moving upwards before the cut to Ripley who hears a 'gwad awful' gargled cry's and screams over the comm', when Ripley finds Lambert she's without trousers and her toe is curled up, as if we need any more hints as to what has just happened to her!
I don't know if you should call it 'r@pe' but she was definitely 'entered'.... repeat the mantra after me "it's only a movie, it's only a movie" haha

MemberOvomorphMar-27-2012 2:30 AMit was Brett's feet???! I'm not sure how I missed that....
So what you're saying is.... I've got sick mind? ha

MemberOvomorphMar-27-2012 6:31 AMYeah you were right craigamore it is Brett's feet I just check it out, I should have realised just from the fact that Lambert wears her trademark cowboy boots. I thought "well maybe she took them off after getting Kane's blood all over them...." but no she's got them on while bottle collecting moments earlier

MemberOvomorphMar-27-2012 7:51 AMNo worries man....it's a fact I didn't figure out until earlier this year and I've loved that movie for a LONG time....
