MemberOvomorphMar-29-2012 5:20 PMI really like the discussion here it is very lively and quite intelligent I really like hearing all the different theories that are out there, seems like everybody is like me I just want to see what Scott and Giger have planned for us.There is one thing that I wanted to bring up and that is when I saw James Arness in the 1951 movie of the "THING" I could not help but notice how much the creature at the end looks like a Space Jockey Look at the hand head and body sure not as tall but still around 7 or 8 feet...It just seems so strange to me Lost Space Jockey? What do you think?

MemberOvomorphMar-29-2012 5:37 PMYes I do see what you mean ...
btw that movie is the nuts ... brilliant atmosphere in there ... I prefer the black & White version as they messed the colouring process too much on the colour version, I reckon ...

MemberOvomorphMar-29-2012 6:54 PMYes, "The Thing from Outer Space" is actually a really good movie, especially for its' time. Carpenter's take was much closer to the original short story, but I love the first one, as well.

MemberOvomorphMar-29-2012 8:41 PMJames Arness was awesome in those days. Another good movie is Island in the Sky.
He plays a WWII pilot which is funny as his height would have prevented that. Although the movie is centered around John Wayne and his crew who are lost in the Canadian mountains, Arness gets some good screen time. If you like old WWII movies with star studded casts, check it out.
