I"m curious to know your input on it. I know this idea is something Ridley has been wanting to do for some time so it doesn't surprise me that he slipped this in there.

It's just on youtube, and it's not from Prometheus to just clarify any confusion right off the bat. It's a scene from the original Alien movies.

Dallas says it all..."Alien life form...looks like it's been dead a long time...fossilized...looks like it's growing out of the chair...bones are bent outward...like he exploded from inside."
I appreciate all the theories I read here everyone has but I'm a stickler for continuity. But I think this movie is going to be so great that I'll give Ridley a mulligan on this one. He'll probably make me forget what is in this scene and I gotta take it that there's a good reason for everything.

When I was in elementary school I stayed home from school sick. It was my plan to watch this movie because my parents wouldn't let me see it when I was young.
This scene has stayed with me ever since. The whole idea of the ship stranded with this alien creature and these eggs...

I think part of the problem here is that there seems to be legion of people who seem fixated on the "fact" that the ship we see in Prometheus MUST be the 79's Alien and that we MUST also be on LV426 !?!?!
Why!?!
It just seems ludicrous to me that an ancient civilization that travelled the ENTIRE universe and may well have created all life (guess we will find out) seems to only HAVE ONE FREAKING SHIP!!!
There are so many directions Ridley could go with this. That is why they are going to be deliberately leaving enough open-endedness to this so that there will be the possbility of coming back with a "second" part to COMPLETELY fill in the holes leading to 79's Alien.

Phil, because they think it's preposterous that two ships can crash within a short time period. Don't ask me why. It's obvious this a very hectic time in the SJs' life, lol. Shit is bound to hit the fan.
But I ask them, where in Alien does it say the derelict actually crashed? Maybe it was an emergency landing.
Let's not forget the very different looking chair and room, planet.

This is the scene I have been asking questions about for years. During the release of the this film, many people had questions about the SJ and the ship that crash landed on LV426. Scott is going to explain what happened here in Prometheus and the origins of the xenomorph (hopefully).

It's obvious a facehugger or something got to this guy, even if it's some different form of one. Perhaps this is what truly started the cycle and the chestburster from this SJ is the very first Xenomorph.

We all know there's no direct tie-in to Alien... Scott and Lindelof have said so themselves on many occasions. I guess we'll just HAVE to believe them : )
March 31, 2012
I believe it should still give us an idea on how the Xenomorph got started though. Tie in or not.

Thanks TK... Yeah I dont understand why there are so many in the "THIS HAS TO THE DERELICT AND LV426 CAMP"... If that were the case, then there really would be no possibility of another film following this??
In any event, geez, this SJ number of ship thing got me thinking again, and I am starting to wonder if there is also a relationship to the SILO's on the Jockey World some have been pointing out that appear to be repositories of Urns/Ampules. I think I saw some mention that 5 or Silo's have been seen now?
Then I thought about a still of the entire scan of the buried Jockey ship in Prometheus. (Not even sure if the Prometheus crew are even aware its a ship or just caverns that simply connect to the rest of the tunnel complex.). Anyway the scan looks like in addition to the main central control area, there are 5 other similar sized large rounded areas within the Jockey Vessel...

And then I was again thinking about a topic I started on the Holo-Room Star Chart & DNA.
Anyway, here comes another theory... What if ...
- Each Silo complex (which Im going to assume contains a different DNA strain or life "building block") in turn has ITS OWN Vessel Launching Bay Area and..
- What if ALL of the Jockey vessels carry the 5 differing DNA strains/building blocks within in in the different chambers on the ship (stored as URNS) and..
-What if ANY Jockey Vessel can create ANY Lifeform by simply combining the 5 differing DNA strains/building blocks in any "recipe" it has in its DNA database for...
- Launching into whatever world that meets the right criteria for the specific life based on the specific DNA "recipe".
And if you want to even keep it following Giger's sort of vision... The combined "ingredients" are launched from the Central control chamber (which is also the Holo-Map Room via the "Giant Telescope" (which in the original Giger vision is literally a giant phallic-ike insemination device.. NOT MAKING THAT UP FOLKS! )
This could be ultra freaky... I wonder if I should start a new topic on that idea?? haha

Well they found no other species or organism on Alien's planet or the Derelict ship ... so that just leaves ............
March 31, 2012
My take is..........there´ll be no LV426 in prometheus........and the space jockey at this scene is from a long time ago. The suit is supposed to be biomechanic so the living part must have been fossilized by the time the Nostromo crew find it.
The only thing that always remained for me is that probably the thing inside the suit might be still alive or in a sort of dead consciousness; the way the camera points at his eyes.
Remember what Ripley said to Ash that is better to get rid of the specimen, it had acid for blood, only God knows what it can do; even if it is "dead"

Yeah it would'nt surprise me if Ridley went back over the Alien script time and time again to fill some blanks for us ... well that's what I'm hoping he's done ...

@Biehn_Bandit
Well the differences in the ship could be just as Battle Star Gallacticas Vipers look slightly different in 80's compared to the newer series but they are suposed to be the same. I think thats the case here and not a complete change like how the Cylon Ships changed. It could be down to the better special effects and budget means they can re-design the ships to look how Ridley would have wanted but was restricted in 1979.
But saying that yes, it would make more sence the SJ have more than one ship, in one scene you even see what looks like more than one hanger for them.
Could the planet be LV 426... maybe because i guess the Water Fall Scene may be Earth or a different planet than what Prometheus lands on. At the end of Prometheus there could be events that would in effect UN-TERAFORM the plannet i.e destroy its ability to maintain life?
Again however this could not be LV 426, maybe the humans release/create or contaminate something that causes the SJ Ship to set off for Earth, but maybe either at same time or after the movie, the Organism thats got out of hand or mutated/created due to us being there could well be running amock and another SJ ship tries to escape but as it does its Pilot gets caught and inplanted and its last thing it does is transmit a warning and lands the ship on a Moon.

THANK YOU @CANADAPHIL !!! for seeing the exact point that i've been trying to make in another thread or two. Folks need to get away from the idea of one ship and open their minds.....I'm with YOU on this one bro.
March 31, 2012
I'm open to my perceptions of the derelict and the Alien in "Alien" being altered by Prometheus, I've no problem with that. It's just that I never expected them to be possibly changed...I saw "Alien" when it came out and to me that was a long time ago...had those impressions a long time. And at that time, there was no sign that they might be changed...there was "Alien", then Ridley did "Blade Runner"...and that was it. Ridley was gone from the genre.

Further to above you can see here for the Holo-Room topic I started another day...
