Is it not possible that the large saucer that is seen in the trailer over the waterfall might not in fact be buried on the planet that the Prometheus visits. The clip where the 'Derelict' is floodlit and the roof above appears to open could signify that the 'Derelict(s)' are in fact inside it. The clip of the ground opening could also be the top of the saucer...Just a thought?

The derelecit definately undocks either from the "mother ship" whose round outline can be seen as Prometheus approaches for a landing or .....................from the top of one of the pyramids. There may be a derelict ship within each of the pyramids.
Just a thought.
