If religion can be argued ( and of course it have to !! ) science must be argued too ... there is no exact science expecially on big meanings . I like that nothing is given for certain . For some people science is a religion ... its not , is just our research for truth ( just like what religion should be ) ...and since is a never ending journey nothing can be taken as definitive .

i don't know the truth, and nobody can claim to know the truth. but honestlry, the possibility of ancient aliens/gods whatever is much more plausable then the entire god/jahwe/allah story no idea why i wrote this in here :s

I do not think there is ANY argument about it...RELIGION celebrates man kinds differences and is a terrible terrible thing. The exact opposite of what this world needs, which is for everyone in it to start celebrating our similarities and NOT our differences. Furthermore I feel that saying "B.S. Ancient Alien Theories" completely KILLS any credibility any words that come after that sentence have at all...because the Ancient Alien Theory IMO is 100% Spot ON and explains Not Only MAN KINDS incredible fear and ignorance towards the unknown and unexplained but the very ARROGANCE with which you used the expression itself represents how I feel about the subject completely! I agree, science was born and should be regarded as an ever changing flow of theories to be argued, open to discussion and confutation, in order for it to evolve (no pun intended). Great scientists are those who use reason, a proper scientific method and most importantly keep their minds open. Unfortunately, most of the time they don't and assume that theirs is the absolute truth, thus damaging science and how it is perceived. True science should be free from arrogance. "Never argue with an idiot, they drag you down to their level and beat you with experience." Science should contrast bigotry and superstition with critical thought and an open mind, otherwise it's just another religion, but without the promise of an afterlife. In the end people choose the block of dogmas that makes them happier. And then we see technology wielding talibans trying to reintroduce inquisition, surpassed or ridiculous theories that defy facts to adhere to the different/limited view of somebody who lived centuries or thousands of years ago.

Anything argued has to be done on its behalf to somehow prove it is right, the exact opposite of science. If you don't believe me, go argue with your local religious leader, challenging any of their beliefs, or go to Iran or some theocracy, let's see how it goes for you... Science on the other hand, relies on argument and challenges. It does it in an ordered manner, to make sure as humanly possible your conclusions are true; that is why it is not palatable, it requires effort, people have to actually think.

MAcs yours is a bad experience on religion ... with the religious persons i had contacts for all my life i never had problems debating or arguing , no one got angry and everything was welcomed ... thats in fact a disturbing development. When this makes school it could, lets say in 50 years, together with the ongoing political decline reach a problematic scale. I mean the US has dramatically changed since the events of 9/11 politically, economically ( housing crisis--financial crisis , remember?) and socially, not to mention the government lies of 9/11 in order to invade other countries not only for geo-strategical reasons. People should just use all teachings of Good from Religon and i mean all and not just the Bible/Koran and apply it to a positive and peacefull way of life. Use them as a guide to how to treat each other. There are bad points to religons and thats why i have a hard time in beleaving them, not only because of the holes in them, there are holes in Science and Evolution aswell. I just find many things with certain religons a bit hypocritical

And we definitely see the coming down from the stars/flying "object" aspect many times; Followed by an earlier awareness of astronomy in those same cultures. The Sumerians knew about Pluto even though we don't consider it a planet now, and it wouldn't be seen with a telescope for thousands of years, even being a semi-recent discovery in the 20th century. Stories depicting what we think of today as the grey alien show up cross-culturally as well. Most recognizably as the ant-people or the Anasazi in native American folklore that helped the ancients escape the flood by burrowing into the Earth and the Grand canyon and teaching them to build their ancient stone cities. @BigDave There are holes in Science and much more in the Evolution theory because they are man made. The scope of Science is to investigate these holes. You wouldn't find many people willing to admit holes in religion because that would be admitting that religion is man made. Critical thought is the worst enemy of religion.

In my opinion and anything which I believe (as I really don't think its important here) anyone that can't (or won't try) to understand someone else's point (or belief) and thus feels any need to insult it or belittle it, just devalues their own opinion. Whether you take any explanation from science or religion it is all a matter of faith (for example you have faith your car's wheels go around when your moving in it) or there is some afterlife and all have the right to believe whatever they wish whether the reason is a negative or some glorious realization!

i WELCOME ALL OF THAT BECAUSE IT SHOWS JUST HOW CLOSE MINDED FEAR CAN MAKE PEOPLE BECOME. That said, I respect all of your opinions and do not mean in any way to demean the validity of any of your arguments, I just took 50 years to make up my own mind about him and his book and after watching the entire ancient alien series to date i am convinced, as mentioned that we are going to find out one day long after we are all dead and buried that on at least 75% of his speculations he was closer to the truth than anyone else ever was. Science itself, the very existence of this discipline, BEGGS US ALL to take his ideas to heart and explore them as deeply as we can...Mankind has longed for truth since it's inception, it is part of that which we value most...to ignore his writings on this subject would be to do a dis-service to the art of discovering Man's Truth's.
