This is not regarding ancient alien B.S. theories, but if you don't open your eyes and want to go that route, beware, we all might end up dealing with holy inquisition courts and witch hunts once again and pretty soon...

If religion can be argued ( and of course it have to !! ) science must be argued too ... there is no exact science expecially on big meanings . I like that nothing is given for certain .
For some people science is a religion ... its not , is just our research for truth ( just like what religion should be ) ...and since is a never ending journey nothing can be taken as definitive .
April 04, 2012
i don't know the truth, and nobody can claim to know the truth. but honestlry, the possibility of ancient aliens/gods whatever is much more plausable then the entire god/jahwe/allah story
no idea why i wrote this in here :s

I do not think there is ANY argument about it...RELIGION celebrates man kinds differences and is a terrible terrible thing. The exact opposite of what this world needs, which is for everyone in it to start celebrating our similarities and NOT our differences.
Furthermore I feel that saying "B.S. Ancient Alien Theories" completely KILLS any credibility any words that come after that sentence have at all...because the Ancient Alien Theory IMO is 100% Spot ON and explains Not Only MAN KINDS incredible fear and ignorance towards the unknown and unexplained but the very ARROGANCE with which you used the expression itself represents how I feel about the subject completely! In Fact I will go as far as to put out my support for "Chariots of the G-Ds" right now and say that There is NO WAY POSSIBLE that man wasn't Dead Bang On The Money !! There is just too much Proof now, all OVER the world !!!

I read it now
i don't get why everything has to be law
you can't critic, you can, i thought there was freedom of speach and thoughts there.
April 04, 2012
what do you mean, you CAN...no one is curtailing your freedom of speech at all? could you elaborate on your comment there please, I want to understand what you mean, you are free here to say as you wish... other than profanity.

I agree, science was born and should be regarded as an ever changing flow of theories to be argued, open to discussion and confutation, in order for it to evolve (no pun intended).
Great scientists are those who use reason, a proper scientific method and most importantly keep their minds open. Unfortunately, most of the time they don't and assume that theirs is the absolute truth, thus damaging science and how it is perceived. True science should be free from arrogance.
"Never argue with an idiot, they drag you down to their level and beat you with experience."
Science should contrast bigotry and superstition with critical thought and an open mind, otherwise it's just another religion, but without the promise of an afterlife.
In the end people choose the block of dogmas that makes them happier.
And then we see technology wielding talibans trying to reintroduce inquisition, surpassed or ridiculous theories that defy facts to adhere to the different/limited view of somebody who lived centuries or thousands of years ago.
Ridley Scott will eventually tell us how the Queen was born.
Right now we have the Deacon; coming soon the Mercury, the May and the Taylor.

@Frantz
-"If religion can be argued ( and of course it have to !! ) science must be argued too ."
Religion cannot be argued, it goes by dogma. Anything argued has to be done on its behalf to somehow prove it is right, the exact opposite of science. If you don't believe me, go argue with your local religious leader, challenging any of their beliefs, or go to Iran or some theocracy, let's see how it goes for you... Science on the other hand, relies on argument and challenges. It does it in an ordered manner, to make sure as humanly possible your conclusions are true; that is why it is not palatable, it requires effort, people have to actually think.
April 04, 2012
well said Noxword,
you can't control how other people think but you can agree to disagree and NOT argue about things you see differently...
What I find MOST AMAZING is all the people who insult and belittle the work of Von Daniken and it could turn out that he knew better than all of them...Einstein, Darwin, ect etc etc...all of them....His incredible realizations were Born of having and maintaining an "OPEN MIND" !!!!!!

Religion should be just what i think im ...why i live ...where im going ...the meaning of all that ..there is nothing BAD in that and its a never ending inner research . Are people that use everything in an improper way . Remember that sex can be an expression of love or rape ...is how people use things and actions that make the difference .

WTF?

MAcs yours is a bad experience on religion ... with the religious persons i had contacts for all my life i never had problems debating or arguing , no one got angry and everything was welcomed ... Are the people that invented Foundamentalism ..not surely the religion itself . Religion should not be different from spirituality ...everyone have his own credo , but more people can have the same one .

"i don't know the truth, and nobody can claim to know the truth."
Dude, you just spoke the truth. No pun intended.
April 04, 2012
Macs. he is saying it's a personal thing religion is and how you interpret it is a personal thing, that people misinterpret the meaning of certain concepts just like the game..."Broken Telephone".
I can take the Koran apart and show you how evil it is and another man can take it apart and tell you how peaceful a book it is...it is how we each choose to interpret that makes the diff.
April 04, 2012
@Frantz
-"Are the people that invented Foundamentalism"
Religion is fundamentalism; again it relies on dogma, on belief; you either believe it or not. There is no argument there.

thats in fact a disturbing development. When this makes school it could, lets say in 50 years, together with the ongoing political decline reach a problematic scale.
I mean the US has dramatically changed since the events of 9/11 politically, economically
( housing crisis--financial crisis , remember?) and socially, not to mention the government lies of 9/11 in order to invade other countries not only for geo-strategical reasons.
This developments directly are combined with cutting school funds and massive commercialisation. The private mass media deception, owned by a clique of few
olygarchs, is enourmous.
When it begins in school, its a question of time this hits universities when this is a bill.
As said in my other thread about ancient astronaut theory, its important to recognize IN WHAT TIME this happens, this is nor 1990 or what..more and more New Age / UFO/ Alien BS pops up, millions are discussing this . As said, the AAT is false but popular. And THAT FALSE THINKING might be a problem with uneducated, misinformed people, when they dont get education even AT SCHOOLS any more.
April 04, 2012
Bingo.
Science should be our greatest defence against superstition and ridiculous claims/theories. Science is first of all about critical thought, and then the search for evidence. Unfortunately there are many wannabe scientists and even more pseudoscientists that defy these basic principles, and then we move back.
Ridley Scott will eventually tell us how the Queen was born.
Right now we have the Deacon; coming soon the Mercury, the May and the Taylor.
the AAT is false but popular
EVERYTHING ELSE YOU SAID TO ME IS WORTH VERY LITTLE BECAUSE OF THIS ONE STATEMENT...THE TRUTH IS YOU DO NOT KNOW THIS FOR A FACT...NO ONE DOES YET, AND WHAT WE DO KNOW SUGGESTS THAT MORE THAN 75% OF IT'S CONCEPTS AT THIS POINT HAVE TO BE TRUE.
SCIENCE IS PROVING VAN DONIKENS THEORYS OR MOST OF THEM ANYWAYS...100% CORRECT.
HOW CAN ANY OPEN MINDED PERSON SAY THIS {"the AAT is false but popular"} EVER...?...THERE IS NO PROOF THAT IT IS FALSE AND AN ABUNDANCE THAT IT IS TRUE...AND MORE AND MORE OF THIS PROOF IS BEING DISCOVERED EACH AND EVERY DAY ALL OVER THE WORLD...WITH SIMILARITIES TO THEM FROM THESE DIFFERENT POINTS IN THE WORLD THAT ARE MIND BLOWING AND MAKE DARWIN LOOK LIKE A GENIUS FAR BEFORE HIS TIME...
I FIND IT HYSTERICAL THAT YOU PEOPLE MENTION SCIENCE BUT WANT TO DISPUTE THE AA THEORY WHICH IS BASED ENTIRELY ON SCIENCE AND SCIENTIFIC METHOD AND EVERYTHING SCIENCE REPRESENTS...WHICH IS TO DRAW CONCLUSIONS BASED ON FACTS AND NOT SUPERSTITIONS AND MYTHS!
TO ME ANYONE ARGUING THAT AA THEORY AS INVALID IS LIVING IN THE DARK AGES WHERE EVERYTHING WAS CONTROLLED AND WORKED THROUGH RELIGIOUS ZEALOTS AND THE FRIGHTENED CLOSED MINDED UNWILLING TO GROW VERSION OF MAN KIND THAT RULED THE DAY IN ANCIENT TIMES.
I ALSO THINK WHEN 14 DIFFERENT CULTURES AROUND THE WORLD ARE ASKED WHERE DOES THIS COMES FROM?...AND THE ONLY REPLY YOU GET IS 14 CULTURES AND EVERYONE IN THEM IS THEIR POINTING TO THE SKY...I'D SAY IT'S A DAMN SAFE BET THAT THING YOU ARE DISCUSSING CAME FROM THE SKY!!!
