Let's hope so, for Prometheus as well as for AtMoM. That del Toro project sounds like it could be something special.
BTW Mafetu, love your avatar. Classic Prometheus.

If you don't already know, John Carpenter took a swing at this with, "In the Mouth of Madness", 1995. It might be of interest, while you're waiting.
I have to say, it is one desolate film.
I saw it once. For my trouble, I recall experiencing sudden waves of anxious depression, out of nowhere, for months afterward.

I think Mr. Capenter was paying tribute to Mr. Lovecraft but it really had nothing to do with At The Mountains of Madness.
I have to agree wholeheartedly with you regarding that most desolate film.

I'm sure this point may have been made already, but this whole talk of mountains reminds me of the Starbeast script about the crew finding the eggs in pyramids versus inside the Derelict in Alien. IMHO, this is the perfect film to feature pyramids, so as to give the Engineers planet an interesting mystique...

A Prometheus success, especially if it is released PG-13, will most likely do nothing for del Toro's "Madness" project. He not only, (fortunately), will not budge on a R rating, but we also have to remember he is staying faithful to Lovecraft with no females in the cast and no love interests in the film - something Prometheus has.
The fact this project got shut down, even with James Cameron tacked on as EP and letting del Toro use his most up to date equipment, and Tom Cruise nearly confirmed as the lead, and the studio STILL said no - I don't think we will ever see the At the Mountains of Madness epic that del Toro could bring us.
