MemberOvomorphApril 04, 2012The following possible theories are based on everything we've/you've all said before, put together. But really, don't read it unless you don't mind taking a chance on being spoiled.
Ever notice that humans briefly go through a stage in embryonic development that looks like a tadpole? It's almost like we go through the stages of evolution in the womb.
Well, what if you were a really big blue humanoid growing through that stage? You'd have to be operated out of a smaller person (your mother) before you became a giant baby and got so big you killed her, right?
The question is: was your growth planned by you - i.e., you were a king once, died and want to be reborn - a re-start for a god? Or is it that a certain company wanted you to be reborn?
So, let's get back to that "invitation"...It could be an invitation of sorts.
What if the "we were so wrong" line refers to Shaw and Holloway believing that a multi-billionaire industrialist would ferry them across space with no other intent than to say hello to our grandparents.
RS said this and Alien share DNA. Think about that puzzler. It's the biggest clue. He and DL also seem to believe that this film could branch off on its own, forming its own franchise, and that there are different elements to it. how could that be when everyone assumes it's a prequel...sorta? Well...
We already know that different mutations come out of our visit to their ship...
So, one possible answer: the alien in "Alien," while deadly, was but one species these guys had developed and stored, but not the only one. Its DNA is present in Prometheus, and is shared, but there are others. Here, it's not alone. The Nostromo crew just got really unlucky as to which Easter egg Kane picked. It could have gone another way... A different plotline.... as many as there are urns in that chamber...
I don't think you're going to end up fearing and hating every alien these SJ's stored away. Unless they are all weapon-like, I think it's possible some may end up being ones you may actually cheer for, and the film could end up really beautiful. But that's my 2 cents.
