What's Happening To The Surface Outside Of The Temple On The Planet As Shaw Trie

I think it's the sandstorm. I thought that was obvious, maybe not. Am I wrong?

The derelict is rising form beneath the ground The whole place in front of the temple is a space hangar of some sort GAME OF THRONES is the best thing on TV right now

The Derelict, awesome, that's what I thought, and then it's going to get knocked back down by "The Company" I've been right all along about this thing I think.

My question is what exactly is going on in that scene with somone getting blown through the air but still clining to that Samsonite case like its something very, very, important?? IE: The pic used as the thumbnail for this sites "Latest News" Tab or EGR101's avatar above??

That someone is Elizabeth Shaw somewhere towards the beginning to middle when the crew is fully suited. Later they just have their helmets, but not the headgear.

???? That looks like quite an explosive force. Surely, a fragile person is going to be seriously messed up after being flung 100's of feet with such force !?! People get killed in 10mph crashes for cryin out loud. Is this not a scene towards the end of the movie following the crash of the Jockey Vessel??

Its gotta be the derelict lauching. Shaw Probably survives by a hair thread no doubt. Survivors instinct what not. Fuckin A to the sweet Cinema set up man. Thats gotta look/sound/feel pretty damn good

Yeah... It could very well be the LAUNCH of the Jockey Ship.

Its shaw being blown back from the sandstorm that forces the team to abandon the temples and return to the Prometheus. She gets injured but not captured by anything because the contents of the bag, most likely the head/helmet are soon afterward scanned aboard the prometheus!

the "sandstorm" is the mountain/temple covering of the ship being cast off.

No sparky?!? Shaw, while carrying the bag is blown away by the sandstorm early on in the film. Much later on the ground opens up and she jumps down into the opening ground. I thought that was obvious!

i AM NOT SURE anything IS OBVIOUS ANYMORE seems to me that could just as well {Shaw getting blown} be happening at the same time the derelict is attempting to Bombard Earth! That might even be the last image all together in the entire film IMO, maybe whats in that case is what would have destroyed all of earth had shaw ever arrived back there...truth is...we have no way of knowing at all what the actual time frame is on any of the images we have seen so far...some we can get close to, but this one there really is no way to be sure snorky...unless you know something i do not?...Edit: I think it is also becoming increasingly important to know what is inside that case as you mentioned, maybe it's just the red exploring/imaging/mapping balls we see in the caves that are kept in little briefcases....aaaah...I like that...maybe that's all it is...but again, we have no way of knowing for sure yet at all.

In the footage we see the sandstorm approaching the Prometheus with the RT-01 and the two sand buggys beside it, the sandstorm behind them. We then see Shaw holding the bag with the yellow head bonnet on at the foot of the ramp as the sandstorm reaches her and blows her back, in between the hull of the Prometheus and its engines. Much later in the film, we see Shaw alone without the yellow head bonnet in front of the temple with no sandstorm around her whatsoever as the ground begins to open up, the Derelict beneath preparing to take off. Two completely different scenes at two different points in the film.

Right Snorky I get that but we have absolutely NO CLUE how far or how Not Far Apart they occur. For all we know they can be happening within the same 10 minute span and also this is a MAJOR characteristic of Sandstorms, which flare up unexpectantly at all kinds of different times under all kinds of different conditions. Or there could be NO Sandstorm AT ALL and what you are seeing is Controlled Action on the part of something or a mechanical accident of some sort. We Do Not Know For Sure.

But this sandstorm doesn't show up unexpectedly though, in the trailer we see and hear that the planet is changing, reacting to their presence and the sandstorm starts, hence the running through the temples and the footage of the Rt and buggies racing back to the Prometheus, crew wearing YELLOW HEAD BONNETS et al. Shaw gets blown back by the storm but holds the bag, and is rescued. We can deduce this because the contents of the bag helmet/head or Urn are then studied aboard the Prometheus, most likely during the sandstorm. It is probably during the sandstorm that the mutations begin and the crew unlock some of the secrets of the urn and the head/helmet. Once the sandstorm lifts they head back without their YELLOW HEAD BONNETS, ultimately leading to the realisation that there is a ship and it is heading for earth, hence Shaw without the YELLOW HEAD BONNET in front of the temple warning Janek and Vickers there won't be a home to go back to as the ground below her opens up, the Derelict preparing to launch towards earth.

i LIKJE THAT, WHAT YOU JUST WROTE, ALOT, I was just gonna say snorky in all likeliehood YOU are right, but we can't confirm it yet. And it seems a bit odd to me, really odd in fact that the SOIL is going to get disturbed on LV-426 in this thing...a heck of a lot!!!

chain of events: Isn't the opening through which the derelict rises originally covered by a mountain/hive top of temple (based on recent fb photo?). So, to rise up and out, first it must disintegrate the mountain of rock/debris covering above it and blow it all over the place - that's the sandstorm. imo At that moment, Shaw is either trying to take her baby or a bomb or scanner-balls or something back to the (soon-to-be derelict/or maybe not) ship. Then the storm subsides (obviously, there's only so much rock that needs to be blown off) and she finally makes it to the site of the temple's prior location and is standing atop the hangar doors which release steam/air and begin to open. Ship starts emerging. She runs to side and must start screaming that Janek fly the thing into it. My best guess.
