Weyland Yutani

we have not figured that out yet and some of us...ME in partIcular, based on what Ron Cobb himself said about creating that name, believe that THERE NEVER WAS ANY MERGER BETWEEN 2 COMPANIES, THIS WAS ASSUMED BY FANS OF THE AVP FILMS AND IS NOT "CANON" {HATE THIS WORD} COBB MADE THE NAME UP TO GIVE US THE IMPRESSION THAT THE COMPANY WAS LARGE...THERE HAS BEEN NO EVIDENCE WHAT SO EVER UP UNTIL THIS NEW VIRAL MARKETING CAMPAIGN FOR PROMETHEUS THAT THERE EVER WAS IN FACT ANY MERGER BETWEEN 2 DIFFERENT COMPANIES.

that may be the case Sparky but weylandindustries.com states otherwise, as it refers directly to another company it considers competition, and by the name of the Yutani Corporation.

Well i didnt think Yutani turned up until the spin off Alien movies......which probably wont be in the Prometheus universe.

I read some article that either they have not yet merged or will not merge in Prometheus.

The merger of the two companies will most likely be a sub-plot in the sequel

whats interesting to me is that By Alien they Clearly have, so as Snorky so wisely pointed out to me a long time ago, at some point, they have to now write this merger into the series, and quite simply because in all the artwork for Prometheus, the name is just "WEYLAND". Somebody involved with this Film, made a decision that effected this all permanently, and it was more than Likely Ridley Scott., as I think Ron Cobb Passed away recently.

Maybe the studio made a condition that if Yutani was a big element of the plot, they'd have somehow to tie in Predators too, and Ridley knew where to draw the line:-)

Weland yutani has nothing at all to do with "AVP" films,dont even go there!.Short of insult i suggest you go back to the alien films to get educated!

Its true. Even in the Nostromo tech read out there are several seperate "Yutani" and "Weyland" components.
