MemberOvomorphApr-10-2012 4:32 PMFreeze who?
Bringing a camera into a cinema is illegal, I'm happy to part with money for a good movie.

MemberOvomorphApr-10-2012 5:24 PMMeh good cams are fine. Though, I haven't watched one in years as I stopped caring. most shit i want to see I wait to show up on netflix.
The last cam I watched was revenge of the sith I think? It saved me leaving my house to endure that piece of shit. Time is always worth more to me then money.

Shane
MemberOvomorphApr-10-2012 5:09 PMYes, it is illegal. And I am sure you never have watched a cam of anything before? Or watched copyrighted materials on youtube?
I am not saying a cam of the movie, just the footage shown. I am planning on going to see this first show. I haven't done that since...terminator 2 when I was 14[I live in canada, it was rated "AA" meaning 14 and above not "R"]. Rather, I haven't don't it at a non-art theatre cause I generally am an art film sorta guy.
The best part is, if it is truly awful I will just get my money back. Most theatres here have a deal that if you hate the film you get your money back. 4 out of the last 5 mainstream films i went too I took advantage of that deal because they wasted 2 hours of my life and I felt i needed something back for it.

MemberOvomorphApr-10-2012 5:16 PMLove that part about the money back. I would totally complain about Prometheus just to have my money back and get back the day after to "give the movie another chance", and so on until I finally come to appreciate it and happily part with my money.
Yes, it's impossible, but sounds funny.
Also, apart from being illegal, watching a movie recorded with a cam is an awful experience, and really spoils the entertainment. It is better to hear somebody tell the plot (possibly in a foreign language).
Ridley Scott will eventually tell us how the Queen was born.
Right now we have the Deacon; coming soon the Mercury, the May and the Taylor.

MemberOvomorphApr-10-2012 5:28 PMI'm not accusing anyone of anything I'm just saying its illegal to bring a video recording device into a cinema, in the UK this is enforced by a company called FACT. I can also assure you that under no circumstances will a cinema in the UK offer a refund because you didn't like the movie.

MemberOvomorphApr-10-2012 5:30 PMI am a bit biased because I've watched Cloverfield (go figure, sea sickness squared) and AVP:R (which frankly deserved being seen on cam, or on a reel of tissue paper, as far as I am concerned).
The worst part is when the guy sitting in front stands up, or the guy with the camera has a coughing fit (Cloverfield, sea sickness cubed...).

MemberOvomorphApr-10-2012 5:50 PMI agree NoXWord, the blair witch gave birth to a load of bullshit handycam movies

MemberOvomorphApr-10-2012 5:58 PMSucks about not being able to get refunds. It's been a godsend to me. Granted I have no idea if that deal is going on anymore. I don't think I have been in a mainstream theatre since.....2009? Oh it was 2010. I went to see Scott Pilgrim. Deal was still in effect then.
It's illegal everywhere to take a cam into a theatre. That doesn't stop people from doing it. And if it makes it's way onto youtube or where ever I will watch it.
AvP:R should be burned. Every copy of it.
Best cam I have ever seen is "Clerks 2". Mostly for the audience reaction to a scene featuring Jason Mews and not much clothing.

MemberOvomorphApr-10-2012 6:04 PMI cant imagine a ridley film not being worth the price of admission no matter what the film is he normally gives good value for money even if the film isn't your favourite genre or subject matter to ask for your money back from a ridley film is pushing it a bit .

MemberXenomorphApr-10-2012 6:12 PMHey Altered I can say there is one film out there. Its two words long. Robin Hood.....I didn't like it. All the other films I loved.

MemberOvomorphApr-10-2012 6:17 PMYeah its not his best rick but not so bad i wanted to demand my money back compared to the huge amount of dreadful films out there. Mind you i haven't been to the cinema in 10 years so its all a new concept for me getting your money back. Theres always robin hood men in tights lol .
To be honest i was surprised that a director of his calibre would attempt a film with that much baggage attached to it, and the mere fact its been made dozens of times already even with its unique perspective on the story its just a subject matter that's not that appealing to me these days. I want total originality to make me part with my hard earned cash these days.

MemberXenomorphApr-10-2012 6:34 PMYou mean This June is going to be your first time in 10 years. Congrats !

MemberOvomorphApr-10-2012 6:49 PMAbsolutely i haven't felt compelled to see anything at the cinema and because tv home cinema is so good these days it makes it even more difficult for me to drag my ass along to a cinema choc full of annoying brats to see a movie.

MemberOvomorphApr-12-2012 1:42 AM@alteredstate, FYI Ridley apparently entered into Robin Hood with the premise that Robin Hood was a bad guy, but the good ol' studio hated the idea and forced wholesale rewrites/reshoot. Might have been a different film if Ridley had his way.
