MemberOvomorphApr-11-2012 7:22 AMThe blue start terraforming procedure on what we call earth.
It takes a while, so they wait dorment on there planet that isn't as good as it used to be. waiting till the point the planet reaches a level of intelligent beings looking for them.
Now they know the planet is ready for them. Want to wipe out earth lifeform so they can start living on a sweet new planet.
I bit farfeched, but probably close in some ways. any thoughts?

MemberOvomorphApr-11-2012 7:35 AMNot bad dude! Laying dormant until some civilisation arrives to awaken the, they then set sail for their "New Home" - NICE!

MemberOvomorphApr-11-2012 7:47 AMI would call this the "Lazy Harvester" theory. I admit I've also thought about it some time ago.
Basically they sow the seed of civilization and wait for it to ripen, with new invention, technology and stuff to feed on. Once the crop is ready for harvest they don't go back and check (too much hassle), they just wait for the crop, who has been instructed to knock at their door when it's harvest season.
Knock knock
"Who's there?"
"Your wheat, I'm ripe"
"Huh, ok... guys, wake up, grab your scythes, there's work to do..."
Lazy bums...
Ridley Scott will eventually tell us how the Queen was born.
Right now we have the Deacon; coming soon the Mercury, the May and the Taylor.

MemberOvomorphApr-11-2012 8:24 AMA good guess, but why would they wait for us to become so advanced? It is a big risk, and why would they need an intelligent race anyway? Technology? Infrastructure? For sure their own technology goes beyond what we can even dream of. Why do they need us? If they just needed an inhabitable world, they could have moved back thousands years ago. I guess something went wrong, we or the gods deviated from the plan, maybe we never where supposed to evolve...

Its a good a theory as any, but let me play devils advocate.
The SJs have space travel technology, are capable of terraforming planets and are able to create new lifeforms. Humans on the other hand have TV, radio and the internet. Given the SJs technological superiority over ours, I don't see our technology being a huge requirement for them. I'm sure they have better.
Also, the SJs are 9ft tall so all our housing would be too small for them. Every door on the planet would have to be replaced, every roof raised etc before a family of SJs could move in. Earth doesn't look as attractive as you might imagine and I'm sure it would be less effort to find another planet.
But of course you may be right

MemberOvomorphApr-11-2012 8:27 AMIt's just what RS said.
He say that the Alien sequels were "jolly good" but that they all in his opinion missed not mentioning the "Spacejockey" anymore.
so he had an idea about prequel or sequel (becoming a story on it's own) with just a few questions
what is the Spacejockey, why had he that cargo in that ship, and where was he heading to before crashing on lv-426 (maybe explaining how he did at the same time)
writing this getting a new thought:
maybe in the events a pre)alien is born or exists that some of prometheus manage to use against blue ppl.
i think i read Scott saying there is more than 1 Derelict, if they stop the first one with the Prometheus, the other ship must be stopped in an other way. i think it's the first time in over 20 years i will go to the cinema first day the movie comes out. Really can't wait till 30 may!!!!

MemberOvomorphApr-11-2012 8:32 AMWhy wipe out humans when they reach advanced knowledge? They could do an easier clean up when civilization is more primitive..?

They are advanced, but just don't know how to create decent entertainment ;) haha
i knew it's flawed, but i feel we're getting closer.
why would they wait? the few images of that planet in trailer and pic doesn't look like that civilisation is doing great. they could be on the ....... (damn english) of extinction.
they probably don't need our technology, but that desent planet needed a loooong time to become what it is (even with the flaws coming with it ) it's still a very good very habitable planet ones you wipe out annoying life forms resident on it.
I bet it won't be exactly like that, but the arguements are plausible

True mate, I'm not dissing your theory, its a typical alien invasion scenario. However
Humans seem to be expanding through the galaxy in the various movies so it would seem like there are habitable planets around should the SJs spend a bit of time looking.
Alien invasion movies all focus on invading but they never really give us a good reason why. At least in V they came to steal our water and eat us.
