What the hell's an 'AVP Canon' ?i

I think I read an interview with Ridley and he admits that is indeed the case.

Now, coming from an AVP game and film fan background...why is it called AVP cannon and not something else? are we still looking to mix these two characters in the same universe?

I've thought about putting my copy of AVP Requiem into a cannon and seeing how far it would go.

Try putting the question you're asking in some kind of context. From what larger statement have you selected the words, "AVP canon", from? It seems likely that somebody else was talking about [i]Literary[/i] canon.

Its just the thing that the space jockey uses. It is a canon that shoots baby aliens and predators onto far away planets. The canon doubles as a telescope which the space jockey uses to monitor the baby alien and predators. He is waiting for them to grow up and go to war with each other. This is a common pastime for space jockeys. Ridley Scott confirmed this a few years ago.

Yeah, it [i]could[/i] be referring to a literary canon, just like there could only be one Derelict ship, no Predators, and no DerelictflyingofftoLV-426 in Prometheus. But that's much too simple. And life isn't simple. Predators have cannons, therefore the phrase "AVP canon" [i]must[/i] refer to the Predator cannon. It has to. Cause' it's canon.

Look up the word canon. When someone talks about AVP canon they're talking about the Alien Vs Predator story line and how it relates to the rest of the Alien franchise.

@ RickK I'm hoping my copy of "Predators" would go even farther.

@ Constealltion88 - If I owned a copy of T3 or Salvation, they would be put into the AVP canon too, and fired far FAR away into space.

LOL I hav a bad feeling terminator salvation set the low standard for prequels. Altghough the 1st 20 min was good . Predators was great. In fact Predator needs a prequel...

For this threads intended audience, Canon refers to the "Body of Work" as it relates to the AVP or Alien "Universe" .

are u joking???? Terminator 4 is by FAR better than T3 for example..one of the strongest and dark Sci Fi´s ..T5 has to top that..

Terminator 4 is indeed FAR better than T3...but its still crap a bit IMO. Nothing like the dark, dreary future war as seen in T1 and even T2. I was really hoping it wouldve turned out better. But yeah, it was still miles better than T3. Never been so disappointed in a sequel in all my life. @ NoXWord - LMFAO!
