"the fact that you see in poor quality have added even more mystery"
I am so totally with you on that my friend...I've felt that way ever since...like they leaked on purpose in that awful quality to start let the salivating begin...

craigamoreApril 13, 2012
Honestly...it's the overall experience of the first teaser trailer...even in the poor quality of its leak from November.....from moment one with Noomi's, "I was wrong. We were so wrong...and I'm so sorry" followed by the BRMMM...BRMMMMM.....BRMMMMMMM.......to the heiroglyphic graphic title reference to 'Alien' and all that came with it....that trailer screamed 'Alien' and the ten year old boy in me has just been giddy ever since......

shambsApril 13, 2012
@craigamore I agree, this trailer leaked. In fact, the fact that you see in poor quality have added even more mystery IMHO.
PS: They have gone out new trailers and TV spots, but none revealed the scene of the parasite that came out of the hull of the Space Jockey in the temple of the big head (in fact this scene appears in the leaked trailer)

craigamoreApril 13, 2012
I still take a look at the leaked trailer from time to time for that effect...

shambsApril 13, 2012
me too! in fact I keep my copy on my laptop well protected and usually watch the trailer from time to time to remember that first feeling of the first impression of Prometheus. On the other hand I like seeing the first official trailer to try to imagine how they would see the deleted scenes of the leaked trailer.

shambsApril 13, 2012
And if I also had the thought that their "filtering" was actually a smart marketin (to raise the Hype)

Synthrimonger94April 13, 2012
My favorite scene is when that worm thing goes into that guys arm in the IMAX trailer!

Jim100a100April 13, 2012
The HEAD - all the way.
Think about all the other images..it all the same without the head. There is a reason they started the marketing with it.

Jim100a100April 13, 2012
..and Synthrimonger94:
when I saw that, my expectations went down a few notches!
It seems like all the other scifi crap we've seen for 35 yrs!

Synthrimonger94April 13, 2012
Hmmm that's debatable! I think thank worm/eel thing infects the crew and "posseses" him!. Probably why the mohawk guy is attacking that crew member!

SpartacusApril 13, 2012
easily and by far the best scene I have seen in film in the past 33+ years and I haven't even seen more than a few seconds of it in slow mo earlier today and I am still shaking from seeing it....
The scene at the very end of the Space Jockey Suit and Jockey...Unlocking !!!
I'm shaking now typing it !!!

I like when Janek says "brace for entry" and Fifield is seen buckling up very keenly. It's so out of place, he looks like a real rebel who wouldn't dare take orders from "the man" but when you think about it, he has probably suffered the consequences of not buckling up before. LOL

shambsApril 13, 2012
I liked when Janek says: What the hell is going on there?
and yeah the true fire of the gods in the movie and Ridley is Prometheus who gives us.
CantSpaceJockTheRockApril 14, 2012
Favorite scene either the big blue "tail" slapping the bloody glass almost in Shaws face or the leaked trailers classic "facehugger scene"...I can't express in words how happy I was when I saw the later of the 2 for the first time...just too too happy unnaturally happy, euphoric.
But to me I don't think it's a scene that gets me the most as opposed to the aounds that accompany the trailers. One of my favorite tid bits is when see shaw praying but hear the over laying audio... Three words CUT IT OFF!!! CUT IT OFFFff!!!
Oh man I gotta to get my fix and watch a trailer or too Ive gone and worked myself up.

shambsApril 14, 2012
YEAH THE CUT IT OFF!!! CUT IT OFFFff!!! is very great and terrifying at once. God damn! I have to see this movie now!

If it's not the exploding spacecrafts, you are all lying.
a. This is the first shot of the classic Alien/jockey craft
b. Spaceship exploding, in atmosphere, .....in the trailer(?!)
Otherwise:
*yeah, in the teaser, when the faceplate on the helmet is fizzing, that right there, the first moment of an iconic Alien vibe that hasn't been seen in thirty years. Instant love.
*The first sound of the iconic alien distress screams as the full trailer propels to the finish. I heard that and I think my jaw hit the floor.
*Shaw doing who knows what, some act of resolution or prayer. It's a character moment that instantly tells you this person is in completely over her head, and willing to fight to her last breath. It's so undeniably perfect, and especially how it tells you in an instant of film what kind of story this will be. It's defining.
*The Prometheus has landed. That shot is so wickedly beautiful. Completely real in my mind, and I have to remind myself that this craft doesn't exist. As FX go, that shot is completely sexy, the kind of shot that tells you this film is top shelf, 2012.
*The planet landscape literally irising open while Shaw (?) runs for some form of safety. That is a huge shot, absolutely huge in scope. And, to my eye, they pull it off. Compare this to the stadium shot in the Dark Knight Rises trailer, and when comparing the success of the two ideas, and Prometheus blows it away in execution. Perhaps the shot in DKR is still being tweaked, but regardless, think about this shot again: The entire landscape irises open! How do you even write that in a script without laughing about what it would take to pull it off. Balls.
* and finally, Noomi Rapace at the end of the television spot, just screaming it out there. So so awesome.

The scene that did hook me in the movie was one from the first trailer ... the guy that try the flamethrower in the hangar with the horn sound ... it did build so much tension
NoXWordApril 14, 2012
I love the homage to the original Alien trailer.
Ridley Scott will eventually tell us how the Queen was born.
Right now we have the Deacon; coming soon the Mercury, the May and the Taylor.

shardyApril 14, 2012
for me, i have to go back to the teaser trailer that came out back in
late December of last year, the brief overhead shot of the Engineer's
ship rolling upwards as it had just crashed down
that image above all for me was the money shot

RuthApril 14, 2012
In the international trailer, when we see Shaw standing (in pain, I guess) and also hear voices and screams on the background.
Also, the scene (from Imax teaser) when we see Shaw waking up, then she grabs something and hits someone or some creature in hazmat (?) suit.

alteredstate.April 14, 2012
For me the scale and chaos of the Croissant/ derelict in the background and the tiny figures of the crew running for their life's all the while the surface around them is erupting .

BiomechanicApril 14, 2012
Ruth, I think she is using a loose restraint strap to give him what for. Looks like an average person in that suit but I can't tell what actor it is.

I agree that the entire first trailer is the best "part" ;) It's shrouded in mystery, and much more dramatic than any other trailer released thereafter. Actually, I kind of wish they didn't make anymore trailers and just released images. I REALLY want to be surprised...but the temptation of knowing more is so overwhelming...which I'm sure you all feel as well ( I mean, we're on this website for starters).
I think my favorite individual scene is the one where the other crew members (unnamed) are in the SJ chair room and that GIANT hand comes out of nowhere. I think it's in the UK trailer? Can't remember. But that scared the socks off of me...the hand, the one guy panic-shooting, and the woman paralyzed in fear (I originally thought that was Noomi).

RuthApril 14, 2012
Biomechanic, Yeah, might be a character we don't know yet, but still, the scene looks great IMO.

TigreApril 14, 2012
The very start of the guy looking at his hand seeing his body change. Just a wild guess here but i believe that guy is david!! The black lines to me is the body turning into a xeno. If you look at the top of his head its like breaking down changing if you well. Thoughts anyone thanks:)

kellicottiApril 14, 2012
That was my thought, too Tigre. Someone on another post mentioned that the "perfect being" that Ash described was actually part android. Either that or it is the scene related to the "beginning of time" sequence.
Does anyone else immediately think of the Xfiles when they see the black "goo"?
Prom_queenApril 14, 2012
These two "favorite" posts are fun, Shambhala. Thank you for something a little more upbeat!
The first time I saw the head in the trailer (I don't remember which one). It still gives me chills.

thefaceheadApril 14, 2012
'Prometheus has landad' and everything Janek say's basically, he's blatantly got all the best lines so I will be sad when he buys it! But my favourite scene that got me a little wet was the SJ chair rising from the floor MMMMMMMM GET ME A TOWELL LOL!!

craigamoreApril 14, 2012
I'm fairly certain that this guy in the suit is Chance played by Emun Elliot....

Look closely and compare it to these shots of him....
...here he is on the left...

markos_prometheusApril 14, 2012
Well, I like in fact two scenes...the first is when the crew is ordered to "shoot all of them...kill everything"...man! Just imagine what they are being attacked from...must be a major mess...And the second is where a suited crew member appears to attempt to pass through a portal like thing...dematerializing him somehow...
chthonApril 14, 2012
No wonder she whacks him. He appears to be attempting to 'examine' her behind.
My favourite scene is really her wielding an axe, it contrasts so well with all the cheesy grinning on the Isle of Skye.

That's Janek, right? I mean, in the centre with a flame-thrower. He looks cool in that scene.
And about Chance. Interesting and maybe you're right. It makes me wonder what was he trying to do when he was standing near Elizabeth before she hit him..

Goddamn Tropics in hereApril 14, 2012
For me it has got to be the transforming crew member who is tossing another crewmember in the air with his elongated fingers in his body.
This moment says it all for me.
From memory, this was from the mini teaser of the trailers released in March and we had not seen any new material for ages....
I think this guy's actions will count for the most fatalities out of the 17?
Lets just hope the story and pace of the movie live up to these classic trailer moments?
CervantesApril 14, 2012
So many terrific shots to choose from...but two of the inital images that I loved from the trailers were the shot of the back of the space-suited Shaw(?) looking up at the vertically standing 'derelict'...and the empty 'space-jockey' seat rising up from it's base. They both screamed iconic 'ALIEN'-like imagery to me at the time.
Another shot I loved was the glowing red 'mapping' orb receding into the distance in the cave.
